Maybe, maybe not. Hard to tell what he thought but I can tell you from experience things can go from normal to shtf in less than 2-3 seconds.

You are right about that, brother. I'm am old guy now and damn lucky to be here. The chances I have taken over the years scare me just thinking about them. I hope there is no rush to judgement here and the proper amount of time is taken to sort this out.

  2. CMW this week didn't sound all that positive that XJ would return at all. Said he still wasn't practicing or doing contact drills. Also said he was going to meet with him about what XJ wanted to do. While I think he will give it a shot just because he doesn't want his career to end like this, I'm not sure he will be physically ready to play at a high level.

I'll throw this in this thread. For those that like to keep up with legal side of things. Seems now players will want to be treated as employees and expect minimum wage. I swear the NCAA has messed this thing up so much. Instead of getting out in front of this years/decades ago they now have created a system of so much disparity.

Which players would be considered employees? Revenue vs non revenue sports? Would they pay taxes? If you play Lacrosse at Yale should you be paid the same as a football player at Bama? Or a different pay? Just a mess.

It feels like we are getting close to just dropping the pretenses and letting schools hire a basketball team. The evolution of this is not going to be pretty. Nothing corrupts like money.

Pikiell will likely have to address it in some form - the kid deleted his Twitter, I'm assuming due to a lot of backlash, he's had some issues with anger and some cheap behavior on the court before, and he's one of their best players. Guess it depends on their relationship, but I would imagine a coach would at minimum have a chat with him about it.

If I was his coach, I would address it from the standpoint of maintaining emotional control. The incident is inconsequential but the behavior, if left unchecked, could cost his team at some point. The player has some maturing to do. Part of a coaches responsibility is the personal development of young people.

Thank you, brother! My wife is taking good care of me. Pain is gone as of today and just chilling to see what what happens.

I’ve had floaters off and on for several years. Feel like those are pretty common. Have learned this week that flashes of light are the real danger sign for a retinal tear. If you get those, get to an ER. Untreated, I guess it can turn into a complete retainl detachment and permanent vision loss. Thank you for the kind words, my friend! But make sure you take care of your eyes too!

Yeah man, they were really perplexed by it. Usually related to things like diabetes and high blood pressure, but I don’t have those. Also could be trauma related and they say people who are more nearsighted (that’s me!) are more prone to tears.

Bottom line is if you see new or weird flashes in the corner of your eye, don’t ignore it! Things can go pear-shaped quickly.

Vision in that eye is still bad, but it’s now like looking through a mesh screen instead of looking through safety glass.

About three years ago I noticed that my vision in my left eye had degraded significantly. Made an appointment with my optometrists and found out that a capillary in my retina had ruptured. Was referred to a retina specialist and began a series of injections in the eye to reduce swelling. I learned the true meaning of "needle in the eye" and didn't like it much. Thankfully, the injections did their job, the retinal swelling went down, and my vision has returned to the previous level. I never had the flashes of light but that is the first question they ask at each appointment. I'm going to need cataract surgery at some point and I have scar tissue on my left retina that may need to removed eventually, unless, of course, I die first. Things are stable now and not more shots for almost two years. I feel for anyone having serious eye issues. Very frightening stuff.

A guy called for 30 fouls in 21 games and has only been in foul trouble once (a game his team lost) has a coach whining about him not getting calls.  Discuss.

I took that as a pre-emptive strike in preparation for the Indiana game. TJD will be target number one.

These news anchors are not dumb.

Agree completely with your overall point. However, after a serious tornado hit southern Indiana an Indianapolis TV station sent a team, including the anchor, down to cover the story. The anchor while interviewing a power company worker asked him if they had gotten the internet back online. That was the last of the worries for a devastated town. The power company guy had a confused look on his face like he couldn't believe what she had just asked him.

Obviously Frazier takes this game against us really personal…even 15 years later. That game in 08 was crazy. If I recall, they had to have extra security around the team and Gordon’s family. Lots of bad stuff was going on in Champaign

Lots of very bad things. After Sampson flipped Gordon from Illinois to IU, their fanbase went ballistic. Honestly, I get why they were mad but threats and objects being thrown at family members was way over the top. Frazier bringing that back up is classless and inappropriate for someone in a position of leadership. It's not what he should be promoting to his student-athletes.

I will also mention..  while no doubt our OL has been awful for 2 years and was only average the Covid year...

We also play 3 schools every year that turn out HIGH NFL draft picks on their DL. Bosas, Tyquan Lewis, Chase Young OSU, Kwity Paye, Aidan Hutchinson UM, Micah Parsons PSU... that's just the ones of the top of my head..

Those three schools defensive fronts, and really MSU as well..  are elite in their front 7, especially.

Makes it extra tough. All I'm saying.

Exactly. As much as I want IU to be really good in football, we are realistically playing for fourth place in the B1g East. Unless something drastic changes, we will never compete for talent with the top of the conference.

I really don't think it's like that... Yet...

I just want people to be fair about it. I think you're one of the prime examples of a fan who just after an ass kicking like we took in Happy Valley has their judgement clouded by emotions. After you think about it later, you simmer down some.

I believe in fairness. Trotting out half truths and outright lies to prop up a position to me is unconscionable...

Some nobody over on BtownBanners says Coach Woodson is lazy and none of the players listen to him and next thing you know, it's gospel even over here...

That's not right... And I'll say my thoughts on it every time...

    Simple as that...

I think CMW's vision of IU basketball is different than a good portion of the fanbase. I would be shocked if he changes his approach in any meaningful way. He simply doesn't have the players right now to make it work, especially down two important starters. However, he has to show the style of play to attract the type of player he wants. If you listen to recruit interviews style of play is always at the top of their list. None of the top players are going to a program that restricts their ability to play "their" game.

  11. I don't have any answers and I don't know that wholesale changes would produce anything positive. The game has evolved into NBA lite, especially for programs recruiting top talent. Those kids want a free flowing offense that allows them to make plays and showcase their talent for the next level. They aren't interested in setting screens for someone else to score. I'm not even sure that winning games is the most important thing on their agenda. CMW's coaching experience is as an NBA talent manager. It looks to me that he is trying to establish that model at IU. He doesn't have the talent level at IU currently to make that work. If he doesn't get it soon he will fail. Purdue is a better TEAM this year without the NBA talent than they wew last year. Personally, I don't like the trend. Right now, we aren't structured enough to be Purdue and not good enough to be CMW's vision of IU basketball. I don't see that changing anytime soon. I also expect a completely different looking team next year.

Great post. I agree completely with the 3 man weave. It rarely generates any significant opportunities and we end up with only 15-20 seconds left on the shot clock. Severely limits what we’re capable of doing for the remainder of the possession.

Especially when we run it slow motion with no apparent purpose. If we made hard cuts to the basket off it, then maybe. Most of the time I just don't get what we are trying to do.
