  1. Agree to an extent and disagree a bit too. JG didn't sit because seniority was ahead of him. He sat because TJD and Race were both much better. With that said, I do agree that I'm almost excited to see what a JG/TJD pair would be like. While I'd love to have Race back, there is something intriguing about a TJD/JG frontline with shooters and creators around them.
  2. Don't let Dan Dakich see this, his head might explode.
  3. Agree! I would love Kopp coming off the bench and maybe even off the bench as a hybrid 3/4 depending on matchups. For IU to take a leap next year we need more talent on the wing. We need more athleticism on the wings.
  4. Absolutely! IMO, recruiting has been IU's biggest issue over the years.
  5. Thompson and Hunter brought the ball up most of the game against St. Peter's. Ivey really only brought it up in transition. St. Peter's guards gave Thompson and Hunter fits on both ends.
  6. Yes, but he's not really their point guard. He plays more like a wing.
  7. St. Peter's hasn't faced guards like Davis and Love.
  8. How did they let the fairy tale hang out there? I believe during Fife's intro press conference he explicitly said he was not the coach in waiting. IU didn't give him the "Associate Head Coach" title. They did nothing that would indicate Fife was a coach in waiting. IU shouldn't waste the mental energy and time it takes to address every made up fan theory.
  9. Honestly, I'm starting to come around to your line of thinking here.
  10. I think you nailed it with "vocal minority." I have no clue how the Woodson era will end, but IMO any fan that has turned on Woodson already is an idiot and probably doesn't really understand basketball or how to build things.
  11. Yeah, that's just what fans and talking heads do. People like Dakich thrive off of ripping statements like that apart and getting the fans all frothy. It's good for business.
  12. "Most think we underperformed" is your opinion. We lost a bunch of really close games and the NW loss was a debacle, but no matter what happened or how it happened the fact is Mike Woodson got IU in the tournament for the first time since 2016. That's a fact. I highly doubt he has worried for once second about the fans turning on him.
  13. But that's an us problem (us being the fans) not an IU or Woodson problem. Nobody from IU (Dolson, Woodson, etc.) said anything about Fife being part of some succession plan. Fife even denied being the "coach in waiting". Woodson hasn't said a word about only being here 3-4 years. He's never even made a hint to that. He could be here 10 years. These are mostly fan theories.
  14. I think he fired a coach so he released a pretty benign statement. You release the statement so you don't have to field calls all day from the media and the SID office can simply say, "Coach made a statement, we have nothing more to say." I don’t think there is any ulterior motive or trying to send any message other then Woodson is in charge and wants a staff that is fully on the same page. All of these theories that Woodson was trying to react to fans on message boards or that the program was trying leak info to make people look bad is nonsense to me.
  15. If Woodson felt a "substantial share of fans" would turn on him, after he got the program back to the tournament in year one, simply for moving on from Fife then maybe @IU Scott is right and we do have a major fan problem. I'd be really surprised if he felt that way or that had anything to do with the release, but if he did then that is an us problem (meaning fans on message boards and social media) and not a him problem.
  16. This is why I feel criticizing officiating is completely inbounds following games. That was absolutely atrocious and just that one play caused a potential 5-point swing during the 3rd quarter when it was just a 6 point lead. That directly had an impact in the outcome.
  17. Yeah at this point, unless IU stumbles into a stud freshmen then I'd rather they add a transfer that can be a main contributor.
  18. Yeah, I think the entire point for Matta was to get some time on the admin side to prepare for being an AD.
  19. That was my biggest takeaway those two games last night. It wasn't defense, it wasn't substitution patterns (St. Peter's coach literally did a 5 in/5 out substitution 5 minutes into the game), it wasn't offensive sets, etc. These teams had guys that could create and make tough shots. Shots were made throughout both games where my thought was "nobody on IU could make these shots".
  20. I tried to post a shot of the scoreboard but I can't get it to upload
  21. Go St. Peter's!! In the arena with my son,, this place is crawling with Purdue fans...making me sick 🤣
  22. Geronimo can't play the wing on either end. I'm a JG fan and excited about what he might do next year, but beyond his offensive limitations on the wing, he was terrible this season defensively on the wing.
  23.
