  1. Completely agree. I highly doubt the committee is sitting there all weekend thinking about how they can screw IU. I was just responding to your point about the committee pointing extra emphasis on February. They've said for several years that they don't weight the last 10 games or the last month any differently then they do games played any other time of the year.
  2. Actually, I'm pretty sure the selection committee has said over several recent years, if not longer, that they do not take into account recent play. They look at complete body of work, not an 8, 10 or whatever game snapshot at the end of the season. Also, I keep hearing about SOS, but what often doesn't get brought up in that discussion is that many of the main metrics (KenPom for instance and I believe NET) already have SOS factored in. So, that's already there when comparing our metrics to teams that got a bye.
  3. I don't know that playing today would have helped our seeding, but I think beating Iowa would have. Win yesterday and I don't think we're in the Dayton round.
  4. Same! I don't know a ton about these teams, but from what I've heard so far Wyoming isn't one of these crazy 3pt shooting mid-majors and St. Mary's plays at a very slow pace which could play to our advantage.
  5. So glad we're finally back in the tournament. IU should never, ever go 5 years without being in. Mad we're in the play-in, but with that said I actually don't hate our draw. While we could certainly lose Tuesday, it's a pretty favorable draw.
  6. Yeah, Miller has been better of late. We do tend to lump them together, which isn't always fair. Just stunk that Kopp's shooting left him a bit yesterday. It's a shame the funk Stewart has been in since the NW incident. At that point he was shooting 46% from 3 on the season, not sure he's still even above 40? He's close.
  7. Unfortunately, I feel like we've been saying that all season about Kopp and Stewart. Just completely wide open looks are being missed at a high rate.
  8. Just got done watching. Crushing loss, but what a fun three days. Just fun to actually enjoy and maybe more importantly believe in IU basketball again! Probably should have won that one. You just can't miss that many wide open shots and win that game. So many missed wide open shots. Tough on Bohannon's last two 3's as well. Obviously the bank in to win it was crushing, but the one before it was just a miscommunication between XJ and Kopp. There was a screen and both guys followed the same player, leaving Bohannon. Hopefully the extra day of rest helps and we can go on a little tourney run. Not ready for this to end!
  9. Yup! Can't imagine Race, XJ, Phinisee and Galloway combining for 16 turnovers again. But yes, will come down to us taking care of the ball, making some open 3's against the zone to prevent their transition game (same with limiting turnovers there) and defending the 3pt line.
  10. Yup, both he and Galloway. I just checked the box score and am now remembering, XJ got in foul trouble and we had Phinisee or Galloway at times brining it up against the press with Race. It was Race and one of them depending on the lineup and it made no sense to have Race back there. Turnovers in that game: Race: 5 Phinisee: 4 XJ: 4 Galloway: 3
  11. That was the game where Iowa used a 3/4 court press and Woodson inexplicably had Race in the backcourt with XJ brining the ball up and it was a disaster.
  12. Biggest thing today in my opinion is going to be our guards (XJ, Stewart, Phinisee) and Kopp knocking down some 3's. At some point, even maybe from the jump, Iowa is going to play that zone. If we miss open 3's and allow Iowa to get out in transition that is where Murray will kill us and they will knock down open transition 3's. That will be a backbreaker.
  13. Sorry for derailing the thread. It's a snowy Saturday morning here in PA, so just kind of sitting on the couch bored and not doing much. Don't worry, I have to record today's game again and watch it later (daughter has a volleyball tournament) so we're good there.
  14. Agree for the most part. I dont have a problem with Dakich. He says a lot of things that are spot on and he says a lot of things that are ridiculous. It's part of the deal and part of the gig. I just don't like his fans trying to act like he isn't what he is. He's a smart basketball mind that has put decades of sweat, blood and tears into the IU basketball program. He's also incredibly disrespectful and quite often goes way below the belt with players and coaches. Just be honest (not meaning you, just generally) about what he is.
  15. How do we think Dakich would act if Archie Miller went on a 4 year campaign constantly referring to Dakich in the media and on social media as "cheater Dan" due to his association with Sampson? How would the people that think Dakich such "calls it like he sees it" would react?
  16. Nobody has a problem with criticism. We criticize the coach and players all day long here. Maybe this will help you understand what we're saying. If we criticized your position on this on this message board the same way Dakich criticizes IU players and coaches, then we would be given a ban from the board. If that's your cup of tea, totally fine. Lots of people like Dakich, he wouldn't have a show if they didn't. But, he's also a shock jock with his delivery and purposely tried to be disrespectful and disparage people publicly. It's what he does.
  17. I haven't said a word about winning in regards to Archie. There is no scenario where calling him "lil Archie" for four years is justified. A child calls another man "lil Archie" publicly for 4 years because he's mad he's not getting his way. And yes, Dakich is held to a higher standard then fans on a message board. That should be fairly clear, he's supposed to be a professional.
  18. I'm not disputing any of that. The guy is great as an analyst too. Just don't try to say he doesn't disrespect and disparage people and go below the belt much of the time. He absolutely, 100% does. That's his shtick and it's worked for him. But don't deny that it's his shtick.
  19. You're dancing around the issue though. You say he isn't disrespectful to people and he indisputably, 100% is. There's no justification for calling Archie 'lil Archie's for 4 years. He is purposefully meant to belittle and embarrass the man. That's not criticism, it's acting like a child. You said Dakich doesn't do that. We've given you clear, concrete examples and then you just reply with justifications or excuses on how it's ok in that case. The guy acts like a 2 year old on radio and social media.
  20. He doesn't call anyone else that. He doesn't call any of the players from his era that, and we know stuff went on in the 80's and 90's. He only calls Langford that, and he does it as a member of the media, not as a former player in a bar or something. It's 100% meant to disparage Langford's character and as far as what has been reported, the Langford's did everything above board. Taking shoe money to fund an AAU program, while certainly a workaround, is not against the rules. Dakich has not reported anything that justifies him calling Langford "shoe guy".
  21. Right! Calling Langford "shoe guy". That's not disrespectful? That's not meant to disparage Langford's character?
  22. How about calling Archie Miller 'lil Archie' for 4 years? You don't think that wasn't meant to be disrespectful, belittled and mock Archie at every turn?
  23. Nope. I've been pretty consistent that I just think Big 10 officials are just awful at officiating. They're just really bad. You tell me? IU isn't a team that shoots a lot of 3's. IU is a team that plays inside out. IU is a team that attacks the basket. We don’t take a lot of midrange shots. We're the best defense in the conference, so while probably physical, the best defense is typically pretty disciplined. Wisconsin plays extremely physical and I don't see these discrepancies in their games? Each of our last two games the opponent has had 10+ free throws attempts in the first half. In the Purdue game, Purdue wasn't called for a second half defensive foul until less then 3 minutes left in the game. I certainly don't think refs are coming into the games targeting IU, so I guess they're just horrible at their jobs? Either way, officiating plays a real and big part in the outcomes in these games, so will always be a discussion point.
