  1. Bingo. I’ve never been a fan, and had speculated on this one for awhile. Wish him the best wherever he moves on to. Woody continues to garner more and more of my respect on a daily basis.
  2. Nope, I don’t focus on negatives. I focus on being real / honest. Who was responsible for recruiting kids that could succeed at IU? Was it not Crean? And it’s not his fault he recruited the wrong kids that either couldn’t make the grades or didn’t produce on the court MORE TIMES THAN NOT? Good grief. Yeah, you’re right nobody bats 1.000, but the good coaches in recruiting don’t bat .500 either (no he didn’t have way more successes, and the proof is in the pudding …. sorry). I don’t think you’re understanding a head coach’s responsibility in recruiting. It’s to find kids that represent IU well WHILE helping the program win. No idea what you’re talking about with the tutoring or the negativity (that’s never been me). Tutoring is normally a service that most athletic departments provide for their student-athletes. I’m done with this conversation. You believe what you want 🤣, he’s no longer here, and not worth talking about.
  3. No, but it’s about recruiting guys that fit your system and help the team win or at least have a positive impact. You can’t seriously believe that Etherington, Hollowell, Patterson, Perea or Dev. Davis to name a few had positive impacts. And if they didn’t, they weren’t the right fit or Crean wasn’t able to pull it out of them. So, yes they were recruiting misses. It’s not about the *** next to their names. It’s about the results.
  4. Only went back 8 years. Didn’t feel like he should get penalized for the first two classes given the situation. Elston, Creek, Hulls, Watford (4 for 4) Oladipo, Sheehey (2/2) Abell, Etherington, Zeller (1/3) Yogi, Hollowell, Jurkin, Perea, Patterson (1/5) - Disaster Devin Davis, Fischer, Hartman (+), Robinson, Vonleh (+1/2), Williams (+), Ev Gordon (2.5/7) - Vonleh is a half bc he was a poor teammate, not the type of kids we want April, Blackmon JR (+) Zeisloft (+) Hoetzel, Holt, RJ (+) Priller (3/7) Bielfeldt, OG, Bryant, Morgan (4/4) McSwain (+), Newkirk (+), DeRon (+), Gelon, Green (+), Jones (4/6) 22/38 is 58%, so almost 1 out of every 2 CTC recruited was a bad move. I gave NV full credit in my calculation, but I could argue that a few of the guys I have pluses to are generous. This isn’t to beat a dead horse or crap on CTC, but I felt the need to back up my claim. I appreciate CTC taking the daunting challenge that he did and giving it his best, but it just wasn’t anywhere near good enough.
  5. It’s easy to say that all the kids that transferred out didn’t add up to anything when 2/3 of the kids he brought in were mediocre players at best. Crean either crushed it or he either failed miserably with kids. Wasn’t too much in the middle. A LOT of misses.
  6. I agree for the most part, but something about Archie did not motivate / push the players to get it done. And it was his job to do that. He also failed miserably in bringing in that shooter we all knew we needed for the last few years. I was a CAM believer. I felt like every year was an improvement up until the last 6-7 games of this past season.
  7. National title contender? Why not? The pieces are there to make a run. If UCLA could do it this past year, then we definitely could ... assuming the team gels and picks up Woody’s system quickly. I hope this team thinks they can. Little too early to tell, but if they ever feel like they can’t then somebody isn’t doing their job. And I know you’re tempering expectations and not wanting to look crazy for thinking we could go from what we had last year to the complete opposite, but I absolutely think they can.
  8. Respectfully then, I’ll pass. Give me Smith, Washington, Clowney, and Gunn
  9. Why is everybody so high on Clowney? As of now, isn’t he a 3 star kid (or am I thinking of somebody else) that just happens to be 6’10? Why are we drooling over this guy? Did he just blow up this past year and his ranking hasn’t reflected it yet? Not that I’m a huge fan of rankings, but that’s part of the anti-Smith argument... fact he doesn’t get much attention from the rankers and coaches. Believe I did see Clowney had some P5 offers but I don’t remember them being impressive schools. I could be way off here, going off aging memory!
  10. Next level? Meaning what? Athletically? This kid will hold his own.
  11. Probably, but it’s also a stretch to suggest he’s just another “20 point per game kid across the country”.
  12. You’re right, and I know that. But I would say it means this list was put together by somebody who doesn’t have a clue. Hence, my comment.
  13. I hope who you are talking about stays. I know we’re deeper at the guard position, but I’d rather see a player at a different position leave, assuming we bring in another 3/4 guy.
  14. The fact Al Durham is on this list and Kopp isn’t on it tells me everything I need to know.
  15. I know absolutely nobody that likes the NBA, but I live in NKY. I’m sure the large markets soak it up. I’d be interested in knowing the population breakdown (age, race) of the large markets as well (could research it but don’t have time). Would assume certain subsets are prevalent in each, meaning I would bet it’s prob a combination of things..... presence of an NBA team, fact that larger populations of younger people statistically live in the city and are drawn to it, and fact that the black community is larger in these areas and connect to the NBA since the majority of players are black. 🤷🏻‍♂️
  16. I agree. Part of that gray area (kind of) that we want IU to operate in.
  17. Note to self... just “mark as read” next time.
  18. I grew up around all UK fans as well, and I hate UK (I’m convinced) even more for it.
  19. I disagree a little bit, and that’s ok. But I think Kopp is more valuable because he can get his own shot if he needs to, or at least has that ability more than JH who has strictly been a streaky spot up shooter. I also don’t think JH is a better defender. I guess that’s debatable, but Kopp’s much higher basketball IQ will make up whatever difference you see. JH is guaranteed to get blown by every other trip down the court, and make a poor decision with the ball every other time he touches it. I just don’t see him as being anywhere near a better or more reliable asset to this team. JMO though.
  20. It’s all good man. I can take a joke. You simply think more of JH than I do, and that’s okay.
