  1. Here is an alternate viewpoint- https://www.breitbart.com/the-media/2020/04/12/fact-check-new-york-times-claims-trump-could-have-seen-what-was-coming-on-coronavirus/ Dr. Anthony Fauci cautioned Jan. 21 that while we should “take it seriously,” the virus was “not a major threat to the people of the United States, and this is not something that the citizens of the United States right now should be worried about.” I can't fault the federal response. The implementation has been shoddy in areas. My bigger concern is seeing how various local leaders from Mayors to Governors have handled it. Banning hydroxychloroquine?
  2. I'm seeing studies showing mortality might be around 0.37%- akin to a bad flu and that up to 50% of Chicagoans might already have antibodies. https://www.tagesschau.de/regional/nordrheinwestfalen/corona-studie-heinsberg-101.html
  3. @milehiiu you had asked earlier how the lock down was affecting murders in Chicago. Not so much it seems. Warmed up a bit last week and 79 shot, 25 killed. https://heyjackass.com/home/
  4. Allstate and American Family have announced rebates. I expect others will join in.
  5. I'm aware of Shawn Phillips and Alex Karaban. Who's the third?
  6. I'm praying for hail damage to my roof in the next few years. Congrats to you!
  7. My height has kept me from Hondas and Toyotas before. I like the likely reliability of a Toyota. Longevity is my main concern with my GMC. I do fit ok in my wife's Highlander but it is not nearly as comfortable to drive as my truck. Hopefully it will be 3-4 years before I need to be worrying about buying my next one.
  8. The Tacoma is probably the only other midsize I'd consider when I buy my next truck. Not impressed with the Ranger or Ridgeline, The Gladiator has a cool factor to it but probably not for me. Maybe the Tesla Cybertruck will be ready by then?
  9. Could it be the weather? Greater levels of vitamin D due to the sunshine? I think we will be learning about this for years.
  10. This will be something to watch out for- https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-04-09/coronavirus-may-reactivate-in-cured-patients-korean-cdc-says?srnd=premium
  11. Very sad indeed. What is striking to me is the disparity in where the cases are. My county has 1000+ cases. The county adjacent to me is much less populated but only has 13. I'm of the belief that we are getting ahead of this. They just dismantled a field hospital in Seattle that was never even used. I think the antibody tests will be a game changer. Hoping to see those available in April.
  12. Maybe Dr Birx has less of an agenda then a US Senator or some website? In her words, they are being "very liberal" with the definition. Before you attack Greg Price, I swear I have never heard of him before I found his tweet and personally am not even on Twitter.
  13. @rogue3542, Yes I read it. Your first paragraph is very clear. People who have not tested positive can be listed as COVID-19 deaths. Dr Birx said the same. I'm not a Dr, but it seems that is looser than normal. I'm not here to argue about media bias. All sources have a bias, IMO. Again, when I Googled for that story, I picked that source since it had the source document embedded. Seems accurate to me. Seems more sites should do the same and people can make up their own mind as to the veracity. It's not some anonymous source being reported. Focus on the facts and not messenger.
  14. I don't know how much more reputable you can get than a US senator providing and linking a HHS document in the article. The HHS document speaks for itself. Did you read it? Think it's fake? I linked that article because it included the source document. There are many other stories out there saying the same thing from all sorts of sites.
  15. Dealers around me are open. Agree that you will get the best deals in a decade in the next 2 weeks. Pick out what you want from their online inventory. Negotiate via phone and email and have them deliver it. Let us know how it goes and post a pic of your new truck!
  16. MN Senator Dr Scott Jensen actually provided the HHS document linked in this story- https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2020/04/huge-mn-senator-dr-reveals-hhs-document-coaching-overcount-covid-19-cases-copy-document-video/ And, according to Senator Jensen, hospitals get paid more for listing patients as COVID-19 and even more if they get put on a ventilator. I hope more of this gets brought up.
  17. He shot 203 free throws while at Iowa so at least he was touching the paint for those. He would rebound balls there during warmups as well. Hard to believe he spent 17 years in the NBA.
  18. Thanks for starting a car thread @Hoosierhoopster. Think you should label it Car / Truck talk though I just had my truck (GMC Canyon) hand waxed today. Figure we are finally done with the snow and salt here. Now I can put a coat of the Car Guys Hybrid Wax on one of these next weekends when the weather is nice.
  19. That is big for a kid his age. Hope he can stay up in the rankings as other players his age develop.
  20. More people died of suicide in TN this week than COVID-19. NY selling it's ventilators. Death estimate dropped from 2 million to 200,00 to 85,000 to 45,000? I think the lockdowns will start be eased shortly.
  21. @The Daily Hoosier reports Logan is 240lbs with a 7'4" wingspan. Nice.
  22. Just don't go paddleboarding in the ocean- they will arrest you!
  23. From economist Brian Wesbury- "During the Great Depression, the suicide rate in the US hit the highest level in history. Recessions are traumatic, both physically and emotionally. Anxiety and depression multiply the problems of being jobless. The consequences are very real, though often hard to track. The faster the economy opens again, the less the long-term damage. But this would mean government has to do a cost-benefit analysis of economic damage as well as the health costs of Coronavirus. So far, that’s not happened. It’s time government set up a Coronavirus Economic Task Force. It’s true that $2 trillion in government bailout money, and trillions more from the Fed, will blunt the damage. But it won’t stop the atrophy. It just slows it down. More importantly, it significantly grows the power of government. It also boosts demand for goods, while the shutdowns artificially hold back supply, which causes inflation because demand exceeds supply. One thing to remember is that even leaving parts of the economy open – grocery and drug stores, gas stations, restaurants for take-out, etc. – risks spreading the virus. So, by choice, we are already taking risk. Let’s expand that risk assessment and take into account all the risks, including the economic ones. Things need to change. Why can’t landscapers work? Construction crews in many states are still working. Why can’t factories or machine shops that normally produce 8 hours a day, go to 24-hour production schedules – three, 8-hour shifts with fewer employees? If I can pick up food, why can’t I eat somewhere 6 feet away from others? There have to be a million ideas. Let’s start thinking about them, because the costs of the shutdown must be balanced with the benefits. It may not be possible to “do no harm” in the response to this pandemic, but we can at least try to “do the least harm.” " Very well put IMO. Echoing many of the thoughts already posted in this thread!
