  1. I have heard they are/ will be filling the reserve not only due to the low prices but to help out the oil industry.
  2. I'm in the same boat. We shop at Costco so usually have a decent supply. With a house of 5 (daughter just returned from college) we go through food fast. Just exacerbated since we are all eating every meal at home. Its easy for a retired couple to stock up since they generally don't eat much. Not so much for bigger families. Wishing we still had the second fridge.
  3. Was just going to post this. With people cooped up indoors, they aren't getting enough Vitamin D from the sun and consequently have weakened immune systems. Also, seems the virus doesn't like heat and humidity. AZ more at risk than FL. The farther north you go, the cooler and drier. Hopefully a warm up and wetter spring weather will help to further limit the virus.
  4. Basement bathroom. The nicest one in the house until I get to the rest.
  5. My firepit. About $150 of bricks and liner from Menards. Didn't glue so I can relocate if needed. Super easy.
  6. I installed a pocket door to the bathroom in my last house 10+ years ago and last year put in in 3 barn doors in the basement I finished of the house we bought last summer. Love both of them. Barn doors are trendy. Got mine at Costco for $300 a piece. Might depend on the rest of your decor. If you can go rustic, use the barn door. I'd say they are easier as you don't have to open up the wall.
  7. I can see you checking this forum while your gf is staining your boat seats.
  8. I love the Weber Chicago Steak seasoning. Use it on Burgers and Steak. Haven't been able to find the bigger size bottle in stores for awhile. May have to look online and stock up for the summer. Used to live in Naperville so been to many a Ribfest. Highly recommend anyone who can try and get there to check it out.
  9. Just started it! Back to virus news here.
  10. For people out of work, I'd expect it to be the ideal time for projects. From painting, to gardening and spring cleaning there are lots of things to do for those that finally have some time on their hands. My brother is a realtor and he says he's been busy. Rates are low. We'll see if the lending dries up.
  11. Figured I'd start a thread for this topic. What type of gardener are you? Do you have the best looking lawn on the block? What are your projects for this year? My wife loves her flowers. I take care of the grass and the manual labor (digging, mulching) for her projects. She will prune and I use the chainsaw. I love relaxing on the tractor with a beer. We moved to a new house last year so there was a lot to do. Planted 3 trees, put in two beds for bushes/flowers and built a firepit. This year's spring project is to completely redo the front landscaping on 1 side of the front of the house. Personally, I prefer Menards for all my supplies but do shop Home Depot, Lowe's and Stock and Field.
  12. Was just wondering if Menards/ Home Depot / Lowes will stay open and be getting their deliveries of Mulch / Flowers on time this year. I'm hoping that after the snow expected tomorrow that we will be done with winter and looking forward to sprucing up the yard. Already aerated and fertilized earlier this week. I think those are essential stores. People need to be able to maintain their homes.
  13. My wife is a germaphobe so this is the worst possible thing for her. She would rather go to war against zombies than a virus.
  14. @bluegrassIU Can I borrow a few rolls?
  15. The Senate insider trading is a travesty. They should all resign and be prosecuted. Enough of this two tiered justice system. Fridays market looks to start up. Will be interesting to see if the gains hold throughout the day. I think we could go down a little more. If we rally here, watch for a restest of the lows. Do think the worst is behind us and there are excellent bargains to be had.
  16. A couple of great (if you like detailed and lengthy) articles- https://medium.com/@tomaspueyo/coronavirus-act-today-or-people-will-die-f4d3d9cd99ca https://medium.com/@tomaspueyo/coronavirus-the-hammer-and-the-dance-be9337092b56
  17. Chicago is so unorganized. Have no faith in them to do anything https://wgntv.com/news/coronavirus/cpd-officers-given-ineffective-hand-sanitizer/
  18. That's about 15-20 minutes away from me. Gets more serious when it hits closer to home.
  19. My wife and I each own our own business. My revenues are tied to the market so they will be down but minimally. My wife is a dentist. She will have some cash flow issues. Being closed (and/or working at a much reduced capacity) along with a likely slowing of insurance claims being paid to her means a decrease in revenue while fixed expenses and employees still need to be paid. Will be interesting to see what kind of help the very small business gets from the government. Truly heartbreaking to hear the stories from Italy. Basically having Drs and Hospitals acting as death panels determining who gets treated and who doesn't. Blessed to live in the USA and not having to worry about that for our parents/ citizens.
  20. No need to be discussing the hygiene habits of @5fouls. here.
  21. A few factors I've heard has been on older aged population, lot of smokers and not that many ICU beds per 100k of population. They really are not treating older people so they can save the younger ones. Scary.
  22. Looking good. Looks like you are in the home stretch! A master bath remodel is in my future. Might be next years project.
  23. "Until then, perhaps the last word should be given to virologist Dr. Lisa Gralinski, who told The Scientist, “If you’re over fifty or sixty and you have some other health issues and if you’re unlucky enough to be exposed to this virus, it could be very bad.” While everyone else should remain vigilant and take proper precautions (e.g., washing hands and avoiding crowds) until more data comes in, from a scientific perspective the public alarm is disproportionate to the risk." https://geopoliticalfutures.com/the-most-important-coronavirus-question/
  24. Dentists and eye Dr's being encouraged by the ST of IL to close for 2 weeks starting tomorrow
