Tom Seaver died today. RIP Tom Terrific. It may have been yesterday, but just announced today. I don't care...either way it's a sad day. Guess he died in his sleep on Monday.
He should just stay there. He can't really compete effectively with the younger guys on the regular tour. His game just isn't consistent anymore. He can wear sunglasses and chew gum and talk about the "bombs" he can hit, but his time on the tour has passed. Sorry, Phil...you're old.
The pros are total machines. Diet, workouts, equipment technologies, swing coaches etc etc etc. The personalities are pretty much all business...which is what it is as in ALL pro sports anymore. Very few Lee Trevino or Chi Chi Rodriguez types.
Saw Clemente hit three HRs against the Reds at old Crosley Field in 1967. Hit one out to each field and drove in all seven runs for the Pirates. He was an incredible all around player with great offensive and defensive skills. Never saw a better all around player.

A time of innocence, a time of confidences. Long ago it must be, I have a photograph, preserve your memories, they're all that's left you."
