Need a couple of defensive stops to get a run going.
-
From everyone's comments, it sounds like IU doesn't know how to play basketball. Is that about it??
-
The opening play that IU ran ended with a lob dunk from XJ to Ware. Why not run that a few more times??

Army had 17 rebounds to IU fifteen. Army had 7 offensive rebounds to IU 3. XJ had 1 and Sparks and Banks had 1.

Probably have to worry about bigger program come calling for Sorsby and he leaves this sorry program
BING!! You got that right, Scott. Any kid with some shown talent is going to listen or look for other/better opportunities.

IU seems to have a couples guys a year with some talent, but the subsequent players need to be a bit better to help support. Seems like we have wasted quite a bit of talent at times without enough talented support.
wouldnt be surprised if Lucas is gone after this year.
Hard to blame any player leaving...especially if a school with a more successful program (that would be almost every other school) reached out to the player.

Reneau vs Mgbako at the 4 is not the primary point though. Because of our lack of guard depth, Woodson needs to be careful with how many minutes X, Gallo, and Cupps play.
It's fine to ride it like he did last night when it was clicking and critical to the game. But, those calling for that to be our starting lineup? I totally disagree with that. Woodson has to manage those minutes or it will become an issue midway through the Big Ten.
In addition, Walker, Gunn, and Banks are going to be more successful when they are sprinkled in with 3-4 of the starters, not as part of a hockey-style second unit.
The next game with Army would be a good one for giving minutes to those three mixed in with starters. Hopefully, get Sparks some minutes too.

When: Sunday, November 12th 7 PM EST
Where: Simon-Skjotd Assembly Hall, Bloomington, Indiana
TV: BTN
First year coach Kevin Kuwik leads his Army Black Knights of the Hudson (0-1) into SSAH coming off a loss to Marist 71-55. Army returns 1 starter, native Hoosier (North Central High School) senior Charlie Peterson who averaged 8 ppg and 5 boards for last year's team (17-16 10-8 good for 4th in Patriot League). There are 3 other Hoosier connections...6'2 junior Blake Barker from Columbus, Indiana, 6'10 senior Matt Dove from Princeton, Indiana, and assistant coach Dr Carson Cunningham from Andrean High School in Merrillville, Indiana, and Purdue.
The Black Knights did not play a single P6 team last year.
In their first game, Army started 6'0 freshman Ryan Curry, 6'4 freshman Josh Scovens, 6'3 senior Kwabena Davis, Peterson, and Barker.
Boxscore from the Marist game...
I think we win this one easily. The Black Knights are undersized and didn't show well vs an inexperienced Marist team. Army did shoot decently from 3 (8-21 38%) but had no inside game and shot FTs worse than we did (13-24 for 54% if you can believe that).
Go Hoosiers!
Yeah, this has the cupcake feel. Get Banks, Gunn some minutes once we have a lead. Hopefully, get Sparks minutes too, if he's good to go.

Anyone got a Xanax 😂.
In all seriousness, a good first test. Had a feeling it would be a close game based on that Mich St game last night.
Still need to address last years issues- perimeter scoring and overhelping on D.
Most notably, I am really glad Woody put in Cupps. Shows me that he cares more about wins than keeping the high-ranked underclassman happy.
Cupps is going to be vital for the success of this team. JMHO. 😊

Cupps = coach's kid, gym rat, leader, high BB IQ, better shooter than you think, winner!

Shooting really cooled off. After starting 6-10, we went 2-10. Add in 55% free throw shooting and getting out rebounded 26-18 and you can see why it's a close game.
ESPN scoring shows rebounds as 20-18? Still not great.

Votto, sadly, believes he can still play and be effective/productive.

That's the way, guys!! TD !!!

Need to answer that Badger score. Come on, guys!

Nope. Penn St. makes adjustments and will most likely score at least three touchdowns this half. Final score 38-14.
How nice to be wrong! There's still fight left in this team.
