Positives… didn’t quit, won, and Anthony Walker.

Pathetic performance otherwise. Missing FTs like we did is inexcusable. Didn’t guard the perimeter yet again. Can’t shoot. Not been mentioned, but I’m at a loss for words that Reneau isn’t smart enough to get that last rebound and kick it out with the shot clock turned off. Typical behavior though…. gets the ball and is determined to shoot at all cost unless he just can’t.

Totally agree. And this wasn't the only time coming down the stretch. When Banks was in he grabbed an offensive rebound trapped under the under the basket and still tried to force it up rather than dribble out and reset. I have been observing this same thing going on all season, and my conclusion is that CMW is coaching them to go up no matter what and avoid passing or resetting after an offensive rebound. Only explanation.

No... Out of bounds off Kel'el to Kansas

While I can agree that bad calls can go both ways, there are, it seems to me, momentum calls that can swing a game, and I think this blown call qualifies. Instead of Ware slamming home a dunk, or at least getting two free throws, the ball was turned over to Kansas and IU was robbed of a great momentum play. Probably a great (foul) play by Harris.

So over 8 minutes left to go and McCullar picks up a 4th foul.  Self leaves him in the rest of the way.  Was it an incredible stroke of luck that he didn’t foul out, or did Bill know something the rest of us didn’t?  It’s like he dared the refs to call the 5th foul, knowing that they wouldn’t.

I haven't gone back to watch, but I thought Self switched McCullar off of Galloway. Whomever had McCullar after that didn't do enough to draw that last foul. My guess is that it would not have made a difference. The refs weren't going to call another foul on Kansas like that.

With 11:05 to go, we were 5-9 from 3...

We finished 6-15 not counting Gabe's heave at the end...

Down the stretch we went away from our strength (inside) and took ill-advised 3 pointers... Reneau, Banks, Galloway...

So you know what "modern basketball" got us today?

    Beat... That's what...

Would not have been the game but for the previous makes. Just have to shoot with confidence when the game is on the line, kind of like Kansas did.

Leaving Assembly now. Officiating cost us the game. That’s just the reality of the situation. Play like that at home and bring the same energy we did tonight and we shouldn’t lose any here in the conference.

Galloway was absolutely phenomenal. I would’ve loved to have seen what happens if he hits that three to put us up 1 at the end. The roof would have came off the place. Wish we would’ve ran more stuff to get Mgbako shots - I would have brought him in a lot sooner at the end even though he had 4 fouls. Heartbreaking loss for sure but I am optimistic for the rest of the year.

Hard for me to see this team turning into a confident, poised, killer by years end. Hope I'm wrong. Think we are a year away. Mac and Ware need to come back.

I don't know what was said (or not said) to any of the potential guard transfers/recruits and I highly doubt anyone on this board does either.

Is it unreasonable for our staff to tell any recruit that they will have to earn a starting spot and not promise it to them? I suspect Ware and Mac were given similar messages but it was a whole lot easier for them to see how it would play out. Potential guards were looking at 2 senior starters they would have to compete with.

Again, I know nothing but I'm pretty sure the staff wasn't sitting around saying "nah, we're good at guard. Let's just go watch CNN"

This sounds right to me, however, I think possible transfers also had to factor in what kind of opportunity they would get to shoot even when they would get in the game.

The cylinder foul on MM was complete BS

MM establish legal guarding position. Offensive player than stepped into MM putting his leg between MM’s leg. MM never moved foward.  Offensive player then tired to clear and raised elbow up and out making contact.

If some can post it. I can’t do it

Not only did he raise his elbow, he extended it outside of his space. At the very least it should have been a flagrant one.

  8. I think Dykes mentioned this, but it seems the Auburn guards pulled up in the lane and hit every mid range jump shot over Galloway they attempted. Sure looked like a lot of push offs, but still seems as if the Auburn coaching staff saw something.

Looking forward to next weekend. Lots to dissect and figure out for the staff. Hopefully X can come back and be effective.

P.S. - I don’t think many expected us to do much this season, if we’re being honest. That being said, we just weren’t competitive today.

Don't know where that is coming from. I saw three McD's boys, a six year and a four year guard and thought we should be good. The guards have not been good enough, and that was certainly true today.

Amazing move by Woodson to not only put Mgbako back in when we got the ball back up 1 underneath our basket, but what was is even was the play ran to ensure we inbounded it to him.

Absolutely.  Ran the play for him and then he put two dead center

  11. That is second time our sixth year senior, our captain, our supposed point guard couldn't execute the simple pass. Gunn had a half court lead and he couldn't hit him. That is the same play he had against UConn and he turned it over for a 3-point play that was the turning point in the game. I hope this is not the turning point in this one. That guard is now going to get hot and he will torch us the second half. And Galloway has been particularly horrible. Starting senior guards have given us nothing in two games. Really just negatives. Sorry I am so negative, but i never played organized basketball and I know how to throw a length of the court pass to lead someone with air under it and with backspin.

  12. Look, I am as frustrated as anyone, but I don't think Malik played well. He went to the rim whether he was doubled or tripled teamed. He got the offense stagnant, so when we needed some guard to step up no one could because they were iced out all game. I know its difficult to take the ball out of his hands because he is the only one scoring right now, but if you don't, it will never get better.

I gave you a crazy look bc I don’t think CJ has earned playing time at all, let alone with the first group.

I understand, but my thinking was this,  CJ might not give you better offense with the starters than Mac, but the starters don't need as much offensive help as defensive help. CJ at least brings defensive energy and quickness to what seems to me is a less quick starting lineup. Again, what do I know.

  14. Obviously I know nothing, so take it for what is worth, but it sure seems to me that Mac would be better suited (at least right now) to playing with the second unit. He would more likely be the go-to offensive option and get more shots. He would also, hopefully, be playing a second unit defensive assignment. Who you put in to start I don't know, but CJ would be my first option.
