  1. I'm an IU guy, and I don't mean to start an argument, but when I think I want an IU guy it is because I associate a former IU basketball player with grit, smarts and a competitive spirit (and maybe someone who can shoot). When I think of hiring an IU guy I am, in a shorthand way, of saying that we need someone with the ability to bring those characteristics to his team. I also expect that an IU guy knows this is what made IU great, so he doesn't have to learn it. Doesn't mean he necessarily has to be IU grad, but like I said, he should already know this and so already understands what IU is about. Sure thought Woody knew this and he talked as if he knew this.
  2. maybe i'm wrong, but it looked like to me when we would get doubled on the wing, the wing defender on the off side (in this case CJ) would go half-way between the outside players and the Reneau player would take the bucket. We must have thrown three or four passed right to the wing defender cross court. Don't know why we couldn't do that.
  3. I agree, but I think that was also the possession where Trayce went up three times, got fouled on at least two of them, but not foul call until the ball bounced out to Bates, who didn't appear to get touched.
  4. I agree that defensive rebounding, and maybe transition defense, were the biggest problems. I've said this for years that when you let a team get comfortable in transition, it makes everything easier, and we let them get a little too comfortable. But I've never played or coached above church league, so I don't know much.
  5. JHS was such a catalyst. He missed a couple of passes, but hit big shots and got some really impressive rebounds. Just a complete played in what, his seventh game.
  6. Agree on Geromino and Banks. I think Banks will get there fairly quickly, however. The real negative I saw was the number of offensive rebounds we gave up.
  7. I would call that a travel. As I saw it, he had his left foot down on the ground as the ball touched his hand, he then took one step with his right foot and then another step with his left at the rim.
  8. If the summer stuff helps NIL, I don't see a problem. Go have fun and IU go ahead and schedule Gonzaga, and some other big names
  9. Watching Bama/Texas. So refreshing to see referees call Bama for pass interference. Living here in the SEC I get to watch them get away with it every week
  10. Ohio State and Illinois look to have the easy schedules to me at first glance.
  11. Was a Purdue fan until I ended going to IU in Fall of 1975. Got to be there at Assembly Hall to welcome the team back from the 1976 National Championship. Needless to say, a fan for life
  12. Someone tell me me with a straight face that Arkansas is being officiated the same way against Duke as they were against Gonzaga. Tell me with a straight face that Duke is being officiated the same way as was Gonzaga. I've seen two over the back calls on Williams for Duke that would have been called against just about anybody else.
  13. There might be a former IU assistant now available for his staff
  14. Look, I hate Wisconsin as much as the next guy, but is it time to look at the difference the new ball has made. I don't think any Big Ten team shot better than 30%. Maybe the Big Ten should quietly use the NCAA ball in the league tournament next year.
  15. I think Iowa got a taste of the type of referee job we have seen lately
  16. Plan on seeing my first Big Ten Tournament game ever Thursday against those, those, those ....... jerks
  17. Agree with just about everything, however, X was driving and not getting anything out of it. Don't know why, in the Big Ten, we try to drive to the basket on the road. You are not going to get a call, especially late. I think you can't win on the road without a good pull up, mid-range game, and I don't think anyone out there at the end could get that done. If Woodson learns anything this year i hope it is that.
  18. I think I disagree. Instead of doing what ever team knows he going to do (and which osu not only anticipated but defended when they were down 4 with 1:30, go back to the foul-line screen for Kopp or Stewart and open the lane.
  19. just really tired of seeing fourth and fifth year players making critical errors coming down the stretch
  20. Agree with this. I think Coach Knight would say a missed layup in the first half counts just as much as one missed in the last two minutes. I was thinking about that when Galloway missed an easy layup at the first half buzzer. if he hits that we have two more points heading into our dive at the end.
  21. Sorry, don't mean to sound so negative. Really liked our team coming into today and I think we will play better going forward.
  22. Exactly right. One team was mentally tougher and it was not us. Worked two good plays to get Stewart a three and he missed both and it was downhill from there.
  23. I mean this as a serious question because I don't know. Does points off turnovers include every time they scored after getting a turnover? So, even if they get a strip under their own basket and walk it up and get into their offense and score, is it still considered points off a turnover?
