What’s this argument over “modern” basketball anyway? Is the three point shot utilization now being considered modern basketball? Surely not. The three point shot was first used in professional basketball in 1961 (ABL), 1979 (NBA) and 1986 (NCAA). Kansas has played winning basketball it seems like forever ago. Do they play modern basketball? They beat us today. I think the game today should show that we need to be able to play strong at the guard and shooting forward positions. That includes three ball and slashing. We have the interior covered very well with Malik and Ware. After the years is over, it would be interesting in viewing a broke down efficiency chart on both ends of the floor, comparing last years combo of Trace & Race vs this years Reneau & Ware. Guard play is down and I’m sure we don’t want to dig into any type of comparison there.

Just generally speaking here and not really a reference to this single game, there is such a huge drop off from our starters to everyone else on the bench. The three times we have played anyone with a pulse has made this stand out loud and clear to me. We don’t even have that reliable sixth man.
