I’ll stand alone in the minority. I think you don’t waste anymore time. IU already screwed up and killed three years. The program trajectory isn’t where you had in mind in year three. Cut ties and move on. The hire was completely nostalgic. Thanks Buckner but there really wasn’t much of the traditional IU to salvage. That left with Coach Knight. He was the tradition. Matta was the only semi exciting thing about the new staff. He’s gone, Trace and Jalen gone, who btw was the reason IU made any noise to begin with. As much as I believe Woodson means well I don’t see it happening in 2-3 years. I hate the coaching carousel. I don’t blame the coaches though. I put all blame on the admin and Buckner and anyone that helped make the decisions.

We aren’t exactly in a coaching search but since we are discussing Dusty who grew up in Bloomington (he lived on the outskirts and went to Eastern Green). Dusty has that edge to him like his mentor RMK. Very strict and firm. Super competitive. He’s an interesting character and reminds me of a few coaches. He won’t end up here but someone will snatch him up should he decide he’s ready to move on.

We have all been there through thick and thin. Indiana is fortunate to have fans that have been so patient. The Blue Blood portion of its brand is tied to its history extending no further than RMKs firing. I feel this tweet fits the last paragraph of your post.

Unfortunately Dusty wont get a chance. Even though he has figured out how to win with less and coach K has vouched for him as being one of the best in the game. As much as I could get behind him after watching some of his interviews, IU needs an elite proven performer. The fans are restless. Recruits and transfers want stability and proof that their time wont be a wasted mess that will lead to them transferring or missing their chance at the next level. But, who knows what is to come and when. As for the op, I want action and less excuses. I want to see a change for the better.
