  1. There is no reason IU can’t get its 💩 together and not look like a dying program. The arguments that 66 year old Woodson needs more time to find and navigate the hump is equally absurd as blaming the fans.
  2. I didn’t say anything about Scheyers job at recruiting nor did I bring him into the conversation. But since he was mentioned I touched on how well he is doing at Duke for a young guy with no experience other than assistant coaching vs a senior guy that has NBA coaching experience.
  3. Woodson shouldn’t have been put in the head coach position in the first place. Someone in the admin knew he was lacking or they wouldn’t have created a new position to put Matta in to oversee and guide him.
  4. Hunter replaced Woodson tonight on the coaches show.
  5. Rumor was Bakos mom or someone actually contacted Woodson. I don’t have to disparage our coach. To me, he hasn’t proven anything. I wish he would work out. I tried really hard to be on board when I wasn’t in favor of his hiring to begin with. Matta was huge in changing my thought process as an overflow of basketball minds. I’m on this mound and unless the team turns around quickly, which I seriously doubt, I I’m staying on it.
  6. Those schools easily recruit themselves. Of course there are “recruiters” lol
  7. Three proven coaches well known to recruits, families and the entire basketball landscape. Scheyer is doing an amazing job for a 36 year old. 47-14 .763 Dukes recent and historical success lands recruits. IUs history still has an effect to a lesser degree I would assume. IU hasn’t been anything since Crean and at this point I would trade Woodson for Crean.
  8. Again, I will refer to a trace Jackson Davis. In interim coach could have done the same with Trace and Jalen. No?
  9. No, it’s been said that everyone was afraid of his abilities to recruit but now he’s proven because of the kids he’s brought in when actually it has been Archie’s leftover guys that brought the talent in. Woodson so far has just wore the head Captain label while Matta and company helped set sail. I’m still waiting to see something that he has done to show me he’s the guy for the job. Loving the program dearly isn’t enough.
  10. He was given the credit yes. The MonteVerde/IU connection was established by Kenya Hunter.
  11. Mcneely, JHS, Queen (not signed) & Reneau are all Kenya Hunter. Where is the talent Woodson brought in? Ware? Nah, that’s Rosemond.
  12. What is a great recruiter? Having a connection to MonteVerde? It’s was my understanding the recruiting connections was through Hunter and Rosemond. MonteVerde specifically is all Kenya Hunter. Not Mike Woodson. I understand Woodson is responsible for the overall assembly of the roster & for managing his staffs movements. I don’t understand the “hes a proven successful recruiter”. Or team is poorly assembled right now. Bako wasn’t recruited by Woodson. So how exactly is he a “ good recruiter?”
  13. That’s the rumor that I hate the most. May to OSU and Holtman to Vandy
  14. As would be expected, May is already in the discussion for a couple spots
  15. Trace Jackson Davis spanked Purdue. Jalen along side was icing on the cake.
  16. I don’t disagree on his slashing ability in high school. Overall Leals strong suit was offense is my overall point. However, he was and is a really good shooter. I’m a south alum, played for JR Holmes and Chris Byers. I go watch games when I get a chance. Especially now that I have a child that’s into it as well.
  17. We’ve had tremendous talent come through. But without a good staff. Like mentioned above from @13th&Jackson. Trace and Malik can only do so much without the right pieces around them and without a well written program from a staff that knows the college game and how to win at it. With the correct parts and pieces imagine how much better they could develop and how much easier the game would be for all involved. Those banners are result of Bob Knight and his ability to make it happen. From basketball wizardry, to recruiting, motivation (see pine bench example), development and preparation. It takes all the pieces to work. He brought Buckner, Woodson and Alford here. He squeezed as much potential out of them as possible to get the results he did. Because he’s one of the best to have ever coached the game. Since he was fired we have had a few great players that gave us all they had. Every one of us at one time thought man we are lucky to have them. You know how good Kentucky would be if they had went there. They may have even turned out better with a better staff coaching them. In my opinion, the missing piece has been a Chris Beard type that can come in and assemble all the right pieces and win.
  18. I don’t know of anyone especially here that has an “agenda” of being “right” and rooting for the team to fail. That would be some kind of massive ego. Actually Dakich comes to mind. But he’s not here on this board. I hated the hire myself but here I am still rooting for the team as we all sink in the same quick sand. My boys middle school coach who is with AAU and an IU grad told me two days ago that the general consensus around his group is that everyone wants a change and can see it’s not panning out. When I go to my office I have several IU lifers & alum that say the same things that’s being said here. Woodson just isn’t IU level college coach material unless he has help getting the right pieces. And even then he still needs help. Look at all the help he surrounds himself with. No one has a personal issue with the staff as people. The issue comes from playing terrible basketball. We all just want to win. Especially at home. And if we can’t win, we want to be proud of the attempt and feel like we are good enough to beat them next time. Woodson, Hunter or whomever had these tremendous accolades, needs to figure out how to translate it to one accolade they don’t have and that’s winning big at college basketball. Because right now, they are sucking at it. In the end, we as fans are all on the same team and of all the people I associate with daily, I’ve not heard one that said I hope the team loses. Think about a guy like Anthony Leal for example. Putting on the jersey has been a childhood dream. I feel horrible for the kid. He’s already toughed out a coaching change. He’s in what would be his normal senior season and has been patiently waiting his turn to get minutes. I couldn’t imagine rooting against the team for a personal agenda and not considering that young fella. The kid just wants IU to win even if it means he doesn’t play. Btw, I seen someone say he isn’t a shooter. Ask Jr Holmes about that. Shooting is his strong side. It was defense that Holmes always had an issue with.
  19. Change direction of the conversation to one that avoids direct finger pointing of other members. Folks this is a one and only warning. We damn well will keep things civil here on this board or there will be some people on the outside looking in. This is a IU fan message board. Its not new for the boards discussion or attitude as a whole to be a direct reflection of the current state of the program or results in general. The team does well. Everyone is happy. The team tanks, that’s where the division starts and things start to go off the rails. It’s part of it but stay civil. If you don’t like a certain conversation, find another thread. If you’re not happy because someone else doesn’t feel the same as you do, just walk away. We aren’t going to change each others minds. Especially by taking things personal. Good grief guys. How old are we again? This has always been a respectful, civil board. The members here are what makes it great. Sometimes you have to weed out a bad apple or two save the bunch. Don't make the mod team hold your hand. We are 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 & 70 year old adults. Let’s show each other respect. I said yesterday I’m not going to explain to a bunch of grown adults why we should maintain a level of respect for each other yet here I am. The great thing about this board has also been its ability to self moderate because of the respect we all have for each other as people. That will return here or we are gonna weed out the problems until it does. End of discussion. Final warning. This isn’t debate able. The mod team doesn’t get paid. HF pays for this site from his own pocket so we all have a place to gather and discuss. Have some respect going forward. Please.
  20. Yep. IU fans are smart when it comes to basketball.
  21. Back then I heard Buckners choice was Woodson. Dolson had no idea of Woodson and that was not his first choice. This came from a couple members of the football staff that a family member runs around with.
  22. https://thegruelingtruth.com/basketball/college-basketball/mike-woodson-doomed-to-failure-at-indiana/?fbclid=IwAR2Z9gdgTW9AcdLkcV8I_t9-XLuZs2eiqT5QGBARlz7g6K1EW3cHIA-13xc_aem_AUWpBGVu3lVobZ17tEzEdRaIIHf9j-J6zXAAQYx7tR0CcC4YpkJSEELtAkdNtM2L7FY
  23. Ladies and gentleman the whole point of this conversation is IU is not where it belongs in the trajectory of the program conversation. Archie was fired because he failed. Crean was fired because it was determined he had reached his ceiling which wasn’t high enough for a traditional blue blood. Look where we are right now with Woodson. We (IUBB) are not good. We are no where near or even approaching the level of play that Woodson was brought in here to establish. Even though his sideline demeanor reminds me of droopy the cartoon dog, I’m sure he’s a great guy. Takes pics with folks and makes the older generations feel all special yada yada. He’s not the guy IU needs to return to its spot on the national grid. We are the worst team in the state. 7th grade JT Rink, Dr. Rinks grandson plays better ball than this entire squad. Kids gonna be special btw. Sack up and move on or continue the 1970s reunion. Thanks Buckner.
