I have a job that is very performance based and people end up on the chopping block frequently. I would not interpret the fact the fact that he is going to the game tonight as he is being retained.

For all we know, Dolson may have said to get another year he has to make the NIT this year AND have traction towards improvement next year by way of recruiting.

And if Mr. Dolson feels that is an acceptable level of performance then the mighty IU has greatly fallen.

I would be disappointed and feel the only way the program would stand a chance going forward would be to clean house starting at the admin level.

Trilly shared an update that Dolson and Woodson met today and that no decision about the future has been made yet. I took this as Dolson giving Woodson an opportunity to show something the rest of the year but that’s just me.

Nah. If Woodsons fate depends on the last three remaining games then he wasn’t really in any jeopardy of being canned to begin with.

Dolson is no dummy. The negative effects would kill the program the minute we started losing games.

    Woodson is out.

You touch on an unfortunately common sentiment - we are all so starved for quality IU basketball that we get our excitement and fun from coaching changes (real or not) instead of competitive games.🙁

Following recruiting & coaching searches is how we can express a degree of optimism & hope for the program.

Sadly there is a lot of truth to this

Pearl would kill it here.  Think Tom Crean's enthusiasm and work ethic combined with Sampson's coaching ability and fun personality.

You know that friend that always went the cheap route even though you tried to explain that in the end it was going to cost them more money and issues so just bite the bullet and get the right one to start with.

If Pearl wanted to come here 20 years ago, IU was that friend.

No question, but his FF team won’t win its conference this year with primarily the same players. They are an entertaining team to watch, but they play matador defense. Will his wide open offensive style play in the B1G?

Underwood brought his system to IL and it was a disaster. He would have been fired if he didn’t completely adjust. Would May be able to do the same and be successful?

Yeah I notice some of the same things as you when watching them. It hasn’t happened yet but it seems like the type of players that IU could get with the historic brand as lofty NIL could really catapult a coach that already gets more with less. Maybe not.

A family member went to school with him. Grew up with him and says unless he has changed a ton, Dusty was always highly intelligent, driven and full of fire. And to not let his short stature and public demeanor trick you.

  6. FAU was nothing before May. He built it from ground up to a respectable team with a great outlook for the program as it stands now. They had only been to the NCAAT once (2002) before Mays arrival.

There is a reason he is in the Ohio St conversation. At only 47 years old, landing at the right spot could set him up for long term success at the highest level.

  7. I like Dusty May. If he can build FAU into a competitive and respectful program then he should do well with the IU brand and resources.

That said, if a more instantaneous approach is the goal, a coach like Pearl is the easy choice. His age is a concern for me though.

With the transfer portal, a good staff can build a roster fairly quick.

Don't get me wrong, this win is great! It's just both confusing and complicated at the same time. I think most IU, if not all IU fans would love and welcome this type of play on a consistent basis. Though it wasn't crisp and pretty, nor one sided dominant, it was a win that showed both purpose and determination. I will take that any day, a win.

This type of play would have been welcomed and expected back in January,....... Here we are, March is just a few days away and we still have no certainty about this team as a whole or Coach Woodson. I will enjoy this win like I do all the others. Congratulations to the coaching staff and team for this much needed win. I just wish I felt differently about the win. JMO

    Go IU.

    Understandable position.

But, my bet is Woodson is gone. He has to be. No way the program and recruiting can sustain the raging inferno throughout the off season and moving forward towards 24/25.

He knows it’s coming. Everyone does. Reasons are obvious and have been beaten to death on multiple platforms.

The big boosters had a get together to raise money and discuss some things. Woodson and the basketball program was a topic of discussion. Cuban was in town for the Pacers and Mavs game so it was a good time to get people together.

Cuban was in Bloomington and stayed at the Union this weekend. That’s a fact but other than that who knows.
