  1. Good...college hoops needs more non-con P5 match-ups on home courts. I wonder if they had to get approval from The Alliance since KU is not included?
  2. Ha, well played. My new predicted finish after the limited December conference action. 1) Purdue. Yeah, shaky recently but 2) Illinois. Assuming Curbelo is back relatively soon. If he doesn't make it back, then have to drop them down several spots. 3) Ohio St. They are also looking to get guys back - Sueing and Towns. Could jump to #1 is they do. 4) MSU. Pretty solid though they've been drilled by the 2 really good teams they've played. Top half for sure but unlikely to win it 5) Wisconsin. Weak interior but Davison can shoot it now? 6) Indiana. Could easily be unbeaten and should continue to jell. 7) Michigan. Too much talent to have them any lower but...? 8 ) Minnesota. What the heck. 9) Iowa. Like Wisconsin, but even weaker inside. 10) Northwestern. Looking decent and the conference is weaker than expected so may move up? 11) Rutgers. Great upset over Purdue and will be tough in the RAC. 12) Maryland. Too much talent to be this low, but here we are. 13) Penn St. No idea but it's Penn St. 14) Nebraska. Thought Hoiberg had enough talent to move up, but some injuries and still not making progress.
  3. This year's Curbelo has been playing with concussion after effects, apparently. A healthy Curbelo, as we saw last season, is really good. Meanwhile Jacob Grandison has exceeded his 3 point shot total from last season in only 10 games. With 1 fewer attempt. Nice win for Maryland, I think they should hire Manning full time.
  4. Yeah, they upgraded coaches for sure. Some bad decisions on offense down the stretch were killers - Kofi taking a mid range shot and Plummer getting a 5 sec call. Need Curbelo back, I think he'll be there for Jan but is it too late? Plummer's been "going crazy" all season, it was good to see Trent get his game going. All on the road....oof. Nah, their studs are all 2nd year guys recruited by Miller. Several European kids that really know how to play. They do have a couple of reserves that are transfers. Mathurin and Tubelis are first round NBA picks.
  5. AZ is really good. At least top 3 nationally, maybe #1? Would like to see them go up against Purdue.
  6. I give up, you win. Just not worth the effort since you apparently are incapable of following a discussion beyond a single post or grasping a point with any amount of nuance. Will check back in when the Illini and Hoosiers play. You'll be pleased to realize that's a really long time from now, about 2 months! Conference scheduling with 14 teams has been a little strange.
  7. Hey, got this one right but didn't think the ACC would sweep the rest. That Nebraska/NCSU game was something to behold. Reminded me of an Illinois/Rutgers triple OT game a few years back, just 2 bad teams that couldn't figure out how to win. A real shame there. 😄
  8. Glad to see him come back into the game after going down. That looked a little scary at first. I think he's mad that Kofi had more dunks last season and is trying to get ahead in that race. 😀
  9. Not sure why you're all worked up or think it's "invalid"? I can agree it's early and still TBD but again these are 2 guys of similar size, skill sets and nearly identical HS rankings that are both in the Big Ten. And my "comparison" was about their career trajectories so there are a bunch of other variables in play that make any kind of evaluation difficult at best. I made no claim that they were equal players right now.
  10. Yes, this caused you to introduce Kopp in the other thread, remember? http://www.hoosiersportsnation.com/index.php?/topic/9809-big-10-finish-predictions/page/6/#:~:text=He just made a comment in another thread dissing Miller Kopp You might want to start a journal to keep track of this stuff.
  11. 6-2 now and those 2 could have been Ws as well. Think Wisconsin and MSU will clinch it, couple other games that could go either way.
  12. Oh, "disparaging"? So sensitive! He did have a nice soph season and then regressed pretty badly as a junior. He's pretty limited athletically so has a tough time on defense. But as he showed last night he can shoot the ball so is a nice guy to have against that Cuse zone. And you were the one who introduced the Goode comparison, not me. So maybe you shouldn't take yourself seriously? I mean, it's not an absurd comparison, they're similar sized and have somewhat comparable skill sets. For sure Goode is just getting started so we don't really know much but it's not like we're comparing him with an All Big Ten level guy ...
  13. You have 2 guys out? Man, that's rough. Illinois has had 10 different players start. I think they've been missing at least 2 starters in just about every game so far. Yes, injuries and illnesses are part of the season but it's pretty unprecedented to have this much happen to start a season. Just suggesting to wait and see for a while.
  14. You do. I'll try again though it's probably pointless. Yes. Kopp started at Northwestern. Because they are a lower level B1G program. So my original comment that I was surprised he's starting at IU is because IU is not a lower level B1G program (this is where the "higher standards" comes into play that you decided was somehow something else....because I'm an Illini?). I don't know enough about IU's other guys, maybe they just don't have anyone better right now.
  15. Good god you just can't read, can you? Or understand it?
  16. B1G up 2-0. Looks like no worse than a split tonight to me. Really hard to gauge some of these other match-ups but will be surprised if it the conference doesn't take this thing rather handily.
  17. Is it? Maybe wait until Illinois has all of its players available and healthy. It's a long season.
  18. That was at Northwestern? I would assume you had higher standards....
  19. Well it looks like I was wrong about Purdue being overrated though I'm not really high on either UNC or Nova. The Boilers also have an advantage right now with basically the entire team coming back, they aren't trying to integrate too many new players (Furst looks good tho!). Others will catch up in that regard but they've been impressive so far.
  20. Goode is probably a good comparison, I think he'll be a nice role player during his career but will be surprised if he's a starter. And that's all I was saying about Kopp.
  21. Not sure what else to take from "Jereme Richmond vibe"? Apologies if I overstepped but that's the only thing that came to mind. Yes early commits are more rare these days but if a top in state kid wants on board you take him. I'll be out for Thanksgiving, hope you and all here have a nice holiday.
  22. Huh? Another straw man from you, I made no claims that Illinois would ever be a blue blood. Don't think there's a chance any current program can reach that status that hasn't had it in the past. I guess if Gonzaga wins a bunch of titles over the next ... well I'll probably be dead by then so will never find out. And yes IU has a chance to regain their status as does UCLA. But IMO the odds are stacked against that happening.
