  1. Guys trying to stay on topic, this is about IU's chances. And you're not competing just against Illinois but 356 other programs as well. Sure, Illinois (and most teams) would benefit with more road wins as well but there's a reason the Illini are projected as a 5 seed or so right now vs IU's 8.
  2. IMO IU should get in barring a disaster. What would improve their seed is a good road win because right now they haven't beaten any likely tournament teams away from AH and have a losing road record. Combine that with the weak SOS and that's not going to look good to the committee.
  3. Like Buie trying to score himself on a 4 on 1 fast break. It's amazing how frequently their games have followed the same script in conference this season. Just happy they stuck to that script yesterday.
  4. Glad the in-state programs didn't want him. 😝
  5. Yeah, with the unbalanced scheduling, covid pauses/postponements (are those Michigan games going to get rescheduled?), injuries, etc it's a crazy season. Big Ten tourney should be wild.
  6. Mizzou choosing not to foul on that last possession was coaching malpractice. I hope they keep Cuonzo for a long time.
  7. IMO court storming is great for the students, let 'em have fun. OTOH I'm surprised more schools don't take more steps to prevent them, just seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen.
  8. Great win for IU, career game from Phinesee and a court storm! Pretty ugly FT shooting on both sides and I wish that Sasha had shown up at the SFC Monday. Amazing how Edey is able to draw fouls on other teams' big men but stay clean himself.
  9. I hate Iowa but even they didn't deserve that. Oh and BTW it was the same ref that made the terrible call in the NW/UW game Tuesday night.
  10. Purdue is a really tough match up for Illinois, fortunately not too many teams like that out there. Very happy to get Curbelo back, now we can finally see what this team can do. Still going to be tricky to figure out rotations, as happened in the OT yesterday, can't really play Curbelo, Frazier and Plummer together against teams with bigger wings. Amazed that Curbelo was able to play at such a high level after 6+ weeks off with very little practice and being out of "game shape". Also seems like Kofi must have been one of the players that had covid issues, he hasn't looked too good since coming off that "pause". Here's hoping IU can break that streak Thursday.
  11. Not just IU, they showed Illinois as 3-0 instead of 4-0. And it's still that way on the B1G web site: https://bigten.org/standings.aspx?path=mbball They did this early in the season as well, took them a while to acknowledge the Illini beat both Iowa and Rutgers in those games.
  12. First true road game of the season for CSU, a rude awakening.
  13. Yeah, I get that. OTOH, why wait? I'm guessing that his good start with the Bulls may have factored into the decision to do it now but maybe that's too cynical. An article from The Athletic yesterday said "99% chance" their Purdue game is postponed. So looks like my Illini may get to welcome them back to B1G play. Although based on last season's shenanigans, Juwan may decide they need more practice time after their pause before playing again.... 🙄
  14. Just the jersey goes up, Dee Brown wore #11 before Ayo and Plummer has it this season. I think the only #s retired at Illinois are football - #77 and #50. Those 2 guys have statues, too.
  15. Kofi got foul #2 halfway through the first half so auto-bench was activated. Which I hate, even though it worked. There's a set criteria for getting a jersey raised and consensus All America is one of them. Kofi's already qualified but they'll probably wait until he's done with the season. 🤣 Great to see DeMar Derozen at the game to see his teammate honored. Nice win for IU last night!
  16. MSU will be there, too. Not completely writing off Purdue but they've got some serious issues on defense to figure out. And I can't figure out Wisconsin, they don't pass my eye test but have some really good wins. And Davis is a stud. Without him, they're NIT material.
  17. MIchigan and Purdue both 1-2.... It's nice having an easy stretch to open conference play for once.
  18. Unfortunately the only thing the NCAA controls is the post season tournament, the rest of the schedule is up to each conference. And unlikely that those groups would be able to agree/coordinate anything like this. Too much is different from league to league, state to state on testing protocols, etc. Hopefully this new wave burns out relatively fast and the season can get finished with a tournament.
  19. Juwan Howard is figuring out which games he might want to cancel....
  20. A) Why would they feel foolish? B) It's a frickin' pre-season "watch list" that's completely meaningless, so who even cares?
  21. No doubt they have all entered into protective custody to ensure their safety from angry mobs that are outraged over this injustice.
  22. Yes, you should have mentioned Da'Monte as well. Then you would have covered all the guys in the rotation that are less than 38% from 3. 😎 No doubt he was due for some reversion to the mean this season and having to play some PG hasn't helped. Curbelo made that list based on his play last season which also earned him the 6th man of the year in the Big Ten. That was from the coaches, guess they are lazy, too? So you have Ohio St as the favorite? I know they have some good wins and Liddell is playing great but ....just don't see it. I guess it's a sign the Big Ten was just overrated at the start of this season. I hope we get to have the debate on Curbelo but he needs to get back first.
  23. Not gonna watch, assume that's the one where IU made a billion 3 pointers?
