  1. Slightly surprising but he's a fairly limited player and would be a back up at best. Good defender, rebounder and passes well but can't shoot, even layups are a struggle. What's really odd is his very first exhibition game as a freshman he came into the game and knocked down a couple of 3 pointers. Strange game sometimes... Smart kid who will be going to law school so good for him.
  2. Interesting move here, going to Overtime Elite but not taking a salary. Will earn NIL instead and keep his college eligibility.
  3. Waited to make sure Kofi was leaving, now it's safe to return.

  5. Yeah, some could be grad xfers I guess. But one of the driving factors towards adopting the one time waiver for all was to get rid of these "hardship waivers" because they were so seemingly randomly approved or denied. So will be interesting to see how many are requested/approved.
  6. Pretty amazing all these high profile jobs filled these last 2 seasons and none with a sitting power conference coach. Of course with K, Roy and Jay no one wants to be the guy to follow a legend.
  7. I think that's Jamie Jaquez, easy to get those 2 confused. 😂
  8. Are all these guys assuming they are going to get some kind of waiver? Because otherwise they have to sit out a season....
  9. And the year before. You can take your name out twice, but not a third time. It's actually more of an NBA rule regarding the draft process. In fact the NCAA is ready to change the rules and allow undrafted guys to return to school but the NBA has to approve that in the next CBA. You keep saying he hasn't "learned" which is just wrong. Kofi's a smart kid, he's just physically incapable of moving quick enough to play anything other than drop coverage. Which can work at times in college but you're right, not the NBA. He'll probably end up overseas or the G League.
  10. The NCAA "rules" were pretty simple: 1) If the state has passed NIL laws, follow those. 2) If the state doesn't have NIL laws, make your own policy. 3) No cheating! And you can't use it for recruiting (but we're not going to enforce that). So of course all the states that had passed NIL laws have since amended them to be less restrictive, especially in SEC country, The NCAA as we know it is a lame duck but there will be something to replace it. Probably with a CEO....
  11. Verdonk? He's a deep reserve, not really a difference maker. Illini will have plenty of talent at the guard spots but very little experience. Probably will try to add a veteran there from the portal. But Kofi does probably = top 25. I agree there's a great chance for IU to move up, overall the league seems to be taking a step back next year so the opportunity is there. But all these rankings will change a ton once the portal season wraps up.
  12. I would think so, since it's legal now.
  13. Yep, just have to be in the portal by May 1, can pick the destination any time. I would think each schools has a different deadline for being enrolled officially.
  14. Well....they have to be in the portal by May 1 if they want to be immediately eligible next year. So really only a couple of weeks to get in. And with the draft withdrawal deadline not until June 13, could be a few tough situations out there.
  15. I'd be surprised if he leaves now with 2 sons on his team, but yes we shall see.
  16. I'm trying to figure out how Wisconsin will do it once again. Davis meant so much to them as well as Davison and they don't have much to replace them that I can see. Hepburn will probably be "the guy" for them but is he good enough? Getting guys from the portal just doesn't seem to be their MO and they only have 1 3* guard coming in. I'm sure they'll somehow finish top 4 anyway. Grandison is very likely not returning for Illinois, he's going to get on with his career. Kofi is still TBD but either way you're right, a very inexperienced though talented team next season. Michigan's another interesting one if Dickinson, Diabate and Houstan all come back they'll be really tough.
  17. Man, what's happening to the Hooiser brain trust? All these experienced coaches deciding to move on?
  18. No, started at Florida, then to Illinois. I do think he'll have a to sit out a year this time though.
  19. Dainja transferred in from Baylor mid season and has been practicing with the team for months. Hawkins can also play the 5 if they choose to go small. If Kofi doesn't return they'll probably look to get another depth piece from the portal though.
  20. Huge disappointment, had more fouls than points this season.
  21. You may be taking his comments too literally. guys. 🤣 Though I do think Illinois and a lot of Big Ten schools are probably a little more restrictive on NIL stuff than other conferences, so it will be interesting to see how it all plays out.
  22. He's not really complaining, if you watch the video the context is a little clearer.
