I blame the defunding of mental health institutions. Believe it or not Reagan is at fault. Then he got shot by John Hinckley Jr.  Dumb bastard.

The weapon is a choice, some more effective than others. I could kill a dozen people with a pocket knife before the cops showed up if I wanted to. But I don't.

Charles Whitman is a great example.  He told people he was messed up in the head. No one listened or payed attention.

That is the real problem.  Some people need serious help, but nobody will listen or give them an ear.

You want to know what the root of the problem is? Loneliness, but Noone will listen.

100% agreed. If you are or have a friend or family member that is a vet. You'll know exactly how piss poor our mental health programs are. My brother struggles mightily with mental issues from Iraq...  I've had multiple discussions with the VA here in Indiana and I can tell you it is pretty much worthless

IMO... Race and TJD are the same type of player with TJD being the better version of course.  JG's ability to get up and down the floor, guard different positions, and hopefully improvement in shooting and driving make him an ideal 4.

He's an ideal 4 for us. But unless he develops at the 3, his NBA aspirations will die off quickly. Woody needs to win obviously,  but identifying and developing players at their next level positions is crucial for recruiting.

a lot of interesting perspectives.  would be shocked and concerned if Kopp and Galloway both start.  just because i'm counting on JHS being that good and Bates making that big of a jump.  very hard to believe that coaches today don't start the best players from day 1 if they are the best players.  as much as i love and miss good old school basketball, that's just an old way of thinking.  if Kopp and Galloway are 2 of our best 5 players, my expectations will be lowered.  now, if they aren't 2 of our best 5, but still start, i guess we could be okay, but still seems rare to have 2 of your best guys not starting.

If you listen to the Kenya podcast of hoosier hysterics, he pretty much says JHS will be starting g with X.   To me the 3 spot is the only question mark. Bates, JG, or Kopp...

To be devil's advocate, I'm not sure that is a simple answer. It could potentially ruin relationships with HS coaches in the state (Crean was great at that), it could upset the chemistry of the team, you risk DD not picking up the system quickly when the departed player has experience in it, etc.

I think DD seems like a fine player, but all these unknowns seem like a lot to risk for a player of his caliber. Now, if we are talking about a potential 15-20 ppg guy then it's a completely different story. The potential reward outweighs the potential risk.

I know I'm playing the guessing game too, but I think there's a lot going on behind the scenes that we don't know about. And despite all the rumors (and as much as I don't want it to be true); I still think TJD is not coming back IF another player transfers in.

IF!  Woody continues to recruit at the level he has been. We won't have many Indiana kids on our roster,  unless they are elite. I Kentucky doesn't typically have instate talent like Indiana does, but I am pretty certain Cal could care less what the local high school coaches think. Win big, recruit big, and when the IU scholly is offered it means a lot. Leal dreamed of playing at IU. We need that dream to be on a national level, which means going toe to toe with Duke,  Kansas, Carolina, KY and winning our majority share of recruits

It's possible but not a given.  As things stands today, improvement will depend mostly by how much returning players can improve.  With most of the roster returning I'd think some improvement is inevitable just due to experience.

Will anyone provide reliable 3 point shooting?  Will we stop missing so many bunnies?  Will we find a way to keep an opposing player with a hot hand from scoring at will? A lot of things need to get corrected before we can be a really good team.

I see a lot of a classic fan response (all fanbases do this), where we go from thinking we need to significantly upgrade the roster at the end of the season to convincing ourselves this or that player will make huge strides over the summer or that incoming freshman is going to be a difference maker or surprise a lot of people.  Recent history hasn't supported the off-season optimism.

We are due for a player or two, like Geronimo or Bates, to have a breakout season or a freshman to be a significant contributor.  I certainly hope so, but I'm a bit skeptical.

I agree. We need improvement from our athletic players at the wing spot. Kopp is what he is and in my opinion we won't take a leap forward until we have an athletic shooter in his spot. Like you mentioned JG or Bates

see i agree with this in a way.  i would bet any amount of money Thompson will be in there, but my point is that if JHS, Bates, and JG are all good enough to start...we would be REALLY good!  i certainly wouldn't bet on it.  i personally really don't want Kopp to start, but i get that it is fairly likely.

I agree. This is just the lineup I would like to see. Eventually we have to start playing the talent we have. Unless Kopp can come in and hit 3's at 40%+ when they actually matters, I don't want to see him.

JHS has the size, speed and athletic ability to be elite in the big 10 from day one.

X shot had improved by end of season. Someone was obviously working with him on his form. If he puts in the time this summer, him and JHS should be the best back court in the big by a wide margin.

Bates needs to be our 3.

JG can easily play the perimeter in a 4 out system,  which should satisfy his wants

  7. Personally I think X is our most important player. There were multiple games towards the end of the year, he was our best player on the floor.

Woodson's job will be decided by wins and losses, not the character of the kids on the floor. I don't want bad kids, but just like NIL and some other things. I would gladly take kids in the grey area. Doing it the "right way" is over, it's past time we get with the reality of what college athletics always has been. Wins and losses fellas, nothing else matters.

Give the kid the keys to this team and one of those old crean "all gas no brake shirts". Obviously he's living it

  8. Young kid with a fast car...  stupid yes, uncommon... not in the slightest. In my early 20's we used to race all the time, at speeds way faster than X was going. We were lucky to not have any accidents, as it was a weekend routine.  Put $10 in gas, race for $20 so the gf and I could go out to eat afterward

Agree, but it’s a tough thing. In a one game tourney scenario, you can swarm and deny a big man with smaller players, but in the B1G conference schedule, you are facing so many big guys. Can you do that without wearing your smaller players down?

I'm saying the whole conference needs to get with the current times.. our big Peter out come tournament time. They simply get ran off the floor
