I definitely prefer charcoal or charcoal/wood mix for taste, but I must admit, I use the gas grills too for convenience if I am in a hurry. But for years, I only grilled with charcoal (although I used both lump and briquettes).

I've come a long way with grilling and smoking.

When I first really started, my food was under or over cooked and  tasted like lighter fluid.😳

Marinated turkey strips...absolutely fantastic on the grill, but spray them good before you put them on.  That delicious marinade really likes to stick to the grill, but it's so worth the trouble.

May have to make a trip there soon.

Sad the Ghrahm cheese farm went out of business.

I don't know if you knew Mrs. Graham as a teacher. She taught history.  We got along but she hated my grandma Prewitt, and Rustin because after he dropped out of school was tossing water balloons into open windows and hit Mrs. Graham in the back of the head.

I don't know how she knew I was part of that Family but we got along well.

I do like the milder fruit woods for Turkey...going with an orange/cherry mix this year...

I know people call it piss wood but had a good source for red oak for awhile.  And white oak.

If I need a tree, I have the farm and the tools to play lumberjack.

I've felled trees and cut them up into firewood.

No, I'd better use the smoker my wife bought me...She reminds me what she paid for it all the time :D

When it comes to smoking, the wood choice is critical. I take my wood choices seriously.

I can't stand mesquite or hickory. Maybe for beef. But I mostly deal with pork and chicken.

I like oak and apple for pork.

Pecan and cherry, and apple for birds.

Yeah, I admit, I'm not a huge turkey person....but I typically eat a couple slices for Thanksgiving dinner and a sandwich with the leftovers that night. It is why I am making a small brisket as well.

I dry brine my turkey, fill the cavity with lemons, onion, garlic, fresh sage and thyme.  Put a couple slabs of butter under the skin on the breasts.  Rub the whole thing with olive oil and pour a can of chicken stock in the roaster pan.

Now that I think of it, takes alot to make turkey taste good.

I know this is a little off topic but just irks me. My oldest son's finance is a grad student at a Catholic School and the 1st day of this semester instead of introducing themselves to the class by name they had to introduce themselves by the pronouns that apply to them. She said her name and the Professor said no no no, what pronouns do you identify with thats what is important. I am just too old for this crap!!

Drives me nuts too. I'm pretty anti social. I will never understand why people need to be accepted or be part of a group or seek validation from others.

In all honesty everything has to go. History is told by the victors and this country was founded on many ideals that by today standards are unacceptable. That does not mean they did not happen and that those that impacted and shaped our country should not be held in high regard. Its sickening

My Mom smoked, we used lead paint I stood up in the car as a child while she drove, I slept in the back window on the Grand Torino from Cincinnati to our house many times. I would never do those things and today we all know all of those are wrong but I am not dishoning my Mom and tearing her pics off the wall. Its gone too far.

By taking these down does it somehow change what happened??

Applying today's standards to the past is ridiculous.  There are many reasons why some things took awhile to change, even though some of the founders may have wanted it changed sooner.

There are things going on in this world today that are much worse than anything that happened in American history.

    Read the last 2 links-

    https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/australian-army-hauls-38-citizens-to-quarantine-facility-over-some-positive-covid-tests/'

"The government of Australia’s Northern Territory has ordered the transfer of 38 Australians from a remote Aboriginal town to a quarantine facility. Nine people there had tested positive for COVID-19.

The group of 38, identified by health authorities as either positive cases or “close contacts,” was taken in army trucks to Howard Springs quarantine facility, located at a former mining camp near Darwin in northern Australia.

“It is highly likely that more residents will be transferred to Howard Springs today either as positive cases or close contacts,” announced Michael Gunner, chief minister of the Northern Territory, at a press conference Sunday.  "

9 people test positive and 38 get taken from their homes with more expected to be taken?

It is not just an Australia thing. We have seen our elderly locked in Nursing Homes where even family could not visit healthy, non Covid, individuals. Various mayors and governors are calling for lockdowns and I believe some would love to have quarantine camps here.

I would hope they wouldn't try that here. Come and try to take me or my wife out of our house to a quarantine camp and see what happens. I advise against it.

Mahomes is on bye this coming up week, so that's an easy decision.  Going forward, though, it's tough to not play Mahomes.  You're in a position in the standings where you probably have to win each of the next 3 weeks to get into the playoffs.  So, after next week when you have to play Cousins, I would go with Mahomes and hope you get one of his monster games.

All that said, you just beat me, and you are ahead of me in the standings after this week, so I may not be the best person to listen to.

I have 2 good qbs. And Mixon at RB had been doing well, but my WR core has been 50/50.

I’m glad we have CMW, but it’s awful tough to compare him and CAM. Totally different situations (leftover roster, transfer portal, etc.) for the two. Now, do I believe that CAM could have come in to the same situation and done the same thing, no, but I’m fairly certain CAM took it seriously as well. Just didn’t work out for him. Little early to be crowning CMW as Moses isn’t it?

I got a bit excited, I admit.  It's just nice to have fun watching good fundamental IU Basketball again.

  11. This has been the first time in over a decade I've done fantasy football. It's changed alot.

That said it was nice to get Patrick Mahomes.  Produced early but has been underperformed recently and I have kirk cousins on the bench who has been productive the the last few weeks. How do you choose?

Amari Cooper has been solid but had to sub in Robbie Anderson.  That guy sucks, but J. Waddle and Mixon has been good. Ertz will be my go to TE from now on.
