So what that people were signing a petition and done with Woodson?   Supporting or not supporting woodson as coach has no bearing on whether you're a true IU basketball fan.  Both sides want what they think is best for the program.

So yes, it's a load of crap to pull out the "true fan" card.

Because if launching a petition is your honest reaction to something as trivial as a basketball season, then in the immortal words of Anthony Leal, you guys gotta chill.

  2. Twitter is a dying place. I still use it because that's where most of my follows remain, and I mostly stick to media figures and prominent fan accounts. It's valuable to get breaking news, and to get instant reactions that make watching a game a communal event. But for true social interaction I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Ads are getting worse by the day, and bots have gone from just suggesting porn to actual porn. It's a gross place, in several different ways.

I say all that to say that most of our players, Carlyle and Rice included, aren't present much on Twitter but are more active on other social media platforms like Instagram.

It's funny how everybody is a victim. Nobody is saying you are not allowed to have an opinion. But if you post that opinion publicly, people are going to respond. That's just the way it is.

The problem comes when people care more about their opinion, and being "right" than they actually care about the program itself. It gets nonsensical.

And to be clear, I am not referring to you with that part, just a jumping off point for my opinion.

On another note, my opinion of Leal and coach's comment about certain fans is blown out of proportion.

Everybody is assuming they were referring to all fans that voice frustration or dusagreent.

My belief is it was geared more towards the lunatic vocal fringe that attacks players, makes it deeply personal. That's my opinion.

I do agree it was better off not being said at all, no argument there.

The "true fans" comment was about an as if-the-shoe-fits moment as I can remember. By and large, the people I saw take exception were those already quite vocal that they were out on Woodson. Including a certain host of a postgame podcast.

I'll agree the comment didn't need to be said, at least not by the head coach, who needs to be above that level of discourse. But I also know we had fans literally creating petitions on change.org and emailing the BOT to call for Woodson's job. Pitchforks and torches were out for program legend Quinn Buckner, and even Armond Hill was catching strays just for being caught on camera next to Woodson during games. Wild stuff, and deserving of being called out, if not by that person in that moment. If anyone feels targeted by Woodson's "true fans" comments, it might be worth taking a moment of introspection and asking yourself why.

I have no problem at all with Galloway and Leal responding the way they did, in that moment with the biggest platform they'll have.

I think another possibility is Woodson's inability to take any criticism without lashing back may be rubbing off on his players.  He could be stirring the pot.

lol. I think it far likelier the players are just tired of hearing too.

Speak what you want as a fan, that's your right. But Leal and Galloway responding they way they did is the most natural response in the world, no pot stirring by Woodson or inability to take criticism needed.

lol Goodman is suuuch a douche

The last video of Goodman I saw, he was saying Mgbako wasn't a good shooter last year and Woodson should have gone all in for Andrej Stojakovic in the portal. Because the pieces won't fit without a shooter like that.

      3P% 3PPG 3PP40
    Player A 32.7% 3.3 5.8
    Player B 32.7% 4.6 6.8
    Player C 32.0% 4.3 6.8

Two of these three guys are on Indiana's roster next year. The other is Stojakovic.

Luke Good was 38.9% from three last year, on 4.1 attempts per game, 8.2 per 40 minutes. If he does commit, can't wait to see the goalposts move once again.

If that’s the only explanation, that’d make me nervous. Freshman get better. But his Ortg was 91.7, which would’ve been better than CJ Gunn but worse than XJ last year. I’d have to think there’s a better explanation than that.

XJ was a sixth year senior. Kanaan was a freshman adjusting to the college level, and there's some evidence playing point for Stanford wasn't his best role. His scouting report describes an aggressive three level scorer, not a facilitator. He's also quite good in catch and shoot situations, per numbers posted by Assembly Call. Playing next to a true point in Myles Rice seems like it will fit him well.

Freshmen take time, especially at the point. We think fondly of JHS because he had some big games for us, but his efficiency numbers weren't much better than Carlyle's. Kanaan had those games when he popped, too, before falling off over the last month. I can only imagine how the game would have slowed down for JHS in year two. Kanaan seems to have all the tools and the mindset needed to make a big leap.

If the Rapture happens and prevents me from seeing our F4 run next year, I’ma gonna be pissed!!

Given what I know of players past and present, and the degenerates on this board, if the rapture happened I don't think the college basketball world would notice. 😄
