There's been a ton of baseball on the ESPN family of networks the last two weekends! I'm loving it!

Wouldnt mind a lock out and the College season becomes front and center using it for their big broadcasts. I think it'd be cool.

Maybe the MLB starts in July haha

I love it! College baseball might be the biggest hidden secret in sports. It's everything people have always loved about sports without the big-time money corruption in football and basketball.

Now they just need to adjust the 11.7 scholarships and lack of a third paid assistant.

Hoosiers will start 4 TR FR today and I'm all for it. I think it was much needed.

He benched Fougerousse halfway through the game yesterday for Mathison.

This game is really big for IU, I think. Losing today and having to beat a top 10 Stanford team to avoid another sweep wouldn't be a great spot to be in.

  3. After winning a series at Mississippi State, Long Beach returns to California and drops a game 1-0 to Sacramento State.

In another Ivy League upset, Harvard knocks off Miami in Coral Gables.

Clemson stayed perfect on the year with another win at home against Hartford.

Iowa's Adam Mazur had another impressive start at the Hawkeyes bested Pepperdine 3-1.

Nebraska falls again, this time to # 17 TCU in Arlington. Nebraska has really challenged themselves in the non-conference but like IU just hasn't been able to pull one out save for one game against Sam Houston. The schedule difficulty should pay big dividends in Big Ten play.

Didn't realize Maryland was in the top 25, but they had a nice 2-0 win over Campbell to open up the weekend.

Looks like Michigan is also playing a tough schedule, currently sitting at 3-2. They've already played 3 Big 12 opponents and still have the Keith Leclair Classic at ECU, Vandy, Notre Dame, Louisville, and Cal State-Fullerton on the schedule. Big coup getting Fullerton to come to Ann Arbor for a series in early April.

    #2 Arkansas Friday at 5pm

    ULL Sat at noon

    #6 Stanford at noon Sunday

Any win this weekend is huge, BUT.... if we play three competitive games, that is very important, as well. These are not equal playing fields that we are working through, compared to our first four opponents.

As expected, Arkansas will counter Modugno with experienced right hander Connor Noland. Believe Noland also played football for the Hogs at one point.

This is the big difference from football/basketball to baseball. These smaller schools are legit contenders/power programs.

Schools in the American, Sun Belt, and schools like GC... are a lot of times better than B1G teams.

That's one of the great things about college baseball. There are so many competitive programs that don't make a dent on the football and basketball landscape. Even Vanderbilt being a national power illustrates this.  Schools like Long Beach State, Sam Houston, Louisiana-Lafayette, Dallas Baptist, CS-Fullerton, and too many others to name. College baseball feels like one of the last vestiges of true amateur athletics.

  6. Arkansas won 2 of 3 at home against Illinois State.

Lafayette took 2 of 3 at home against UC-Irvine.

Stanford took 2 of 3 from CS-Fullerton in Palo Alto.

Missouri State also took 2 of 3 from Central Arkansas.

The Troy Trojans swept 4 games at home against Holy Cross.

SOS looking good for IU early on.

  7. Lots of good opportunities for quality wins coming up.

    - Obviously, Arkansas, Louisiana-Lafayette, and Stanford speak for themselves. These are big name programs and any wins over them would come on a neutral field (big for RPI).

    - Don't sleep on Missouri State and Troy either. These names don't have the same cache as the teams IU will see next weekend but are excellent programs that regularly make it to the postseason. Plus, they are on the road too so any wins IU can squeeze there will be huge moving forward.

    - Then throw in opportunities in the midweek against UK and Indiana State. I believe D1 baseball had ISU in their postseason projections.

this would be a much worse weekend then we had

Rough weekend for Cliff Godwin and the Pirates in Greeneville. Always a great atmosphere in their park, which IU got to experience in 2020. Bryant is a really good program, though. Certainly one of the best in the Northeast - tend to make regionals regularly.

  9. Tough loss. Tough weekend. Just have to take this valuable experience and hope for some better results next weekend. Would have liked to have gotten one of the three, but lots of big opportunities for key non-conference wins still on the horizon.

That won't sit well. Whens UFs new ball park open?

It opened last year. The SEC facilities arms race continues. Florida, Kentucky, and Alabama have new parks. Tennessee and Mississippi State recently renovated theirs while Ole Miss and Arkansas announced new renovations coming. Ole Miss just had big renovation a couple years ago also.

Hoosiers get 2. Honestly a great inning. Forced a 2 out walk and rallied from there.

    4-3 IU B6

There it is. If nothing else, the Clemson pitchers had to throw high-stress pitches early on leading to runs here in the 6th.
