Yep…and whatever happened to that Dalton Connect 4 kid or whatever his name was. Thank god we didn’t throw any NIL money at him…would have been a huge waste having him with Ware last year.

Knecht had a huge year for Tennessee

What a great race. I'd like to go one day.

I put my name in the hopper for next year... we'll see how it goes...

Normally we go to the local track (Sam Houston here, and Arlington when we were in Chicago) and always have a blast...kinda slipped my mind this year for some reason, and by the time I looked, only thing available was GA...No thanks...

Not raining now.  30% chance this afternoon.  If it does rain, it will be a downpour.  Very humid.  A lot of moisture in the air. Just said on the local news coverage, the track is now listed as 'Good'.

If it was held down here, they'd have to issue flippers...We got pounded...This is about a mile from my house...

The article stated that they didn't recruit over XJ and bet on the best version of him. Woodson's quote indicates they would have recruited a starting pg if they could have.

I'm more inclined to believe that if any of the kids I named had said yes, Galloway would have been the one coming off the bench...Woody did start a CG  who was quite capable of playing the point (JHS) along side XJ at the beginning of 22-23 no?

That article is a bit of revisionist history.

“When we knew Jalen was leaving, we desperately tried to find a backup point guard, starting point guard, to go along with Xavier and Gallo,” Woodson said. “So we explored, we talked to different guys, and guys went other places based on they thought that was a better fit.”

I can name 3 our insiders said the staff was talking with...Dingle, Dennis, and Caleb Love (CG)...and that's without looking anything up...

So I'm not sure of the point you're trying to make...

  6. Good article "That’s A Wrap: Mike Woodson" at Inside the Hall

I agree with the vast majority of this...Particularly this part...

"Woodson didn’t recruit over Johnson in the transfer portal and bet on the best version of him. Injuries took their toll on the sixth-year senior and he was unable to stay on the court. When he did play, the results didn’t measure up. Johnson’s addition to the Hoosiers was always a gamble after he flamed out at Pitt. In his final season, things came up snake eyes."

I think Mike Woodson is loyal to a fault...Not only with XJ, but Gunn, Banks, and to an extent, Galloway and Leal...

Anthony and Trey paid him back by speaking up for him on Senior Day, staying on, and encouraging recruitment of guys (Carlyle and Rice) that would take a starters spot away from one (sorry, @tdhoosier, but while in most cases concerning Woody and his penchant for not replacing starters I would agree, I think it happens here) and minutes from the other...

Really good read with some solid explanations on where we're headed...

I will say that we bought our team and there's nothing wrong with it. I will also say that Woody deserved much of the the criticism for the play on the court and bad roster construction last season. I will also say that the false rumors flying around and leaks were straight up trash and an unnecessary low blow.

So, it's time to put up or shut up for the coaching staff. Somebody put up a graph in another thread that said: as our roster stands right now, we have more returning power 6 production than ANY other team in the country. If Hurley had this roster I think many would be projecting us to be National Championship contenders.

But here we are. Many are debating whether we have enough to make the 2nd weekend. I think that says a lot about how much faith fans and CBB analyst's have in Woody's ability to coach at a high level.

I will be rooting for Woody to prove all the naysayers wrong, but he's going to need to accomplish a lot next year to silence all the noise. I don't want to hear any excuses about talent, depth, experience, lack of fundamentals, etc if we underperform, because at that point, the answer should be pretty clear.

We have the pieces. Now we need results.

And I'm fine with that...the expectations are high and they should be...

But I also don't want to hear the "we bought a team" BS if we are successful...that's the rules of the game right now...

    Deal?

The problem is that I doubt we can get much better than this guy for our backup 5 position. Anyone good enough will want more playing time than we can offer at that position.

If Minnesota is in the mix, it'd be hard for him to turn down...they have scads of playing time available for a big...they just signed a D3 kid (guard) yesterday...if Christie stays in the draft or goes elsewhere, Ben Johnson will be scrambling, big time...

Woody is lucky that he is coaching in the day and age of NIL and portaling.  Also that he has a ton of high level donor support. If last year happened under Archie or another former coach they wouldn’t have a job. You play the way we did last year combine with losing your only damn recruit there would have been no coming back from that….no big $$ donors to buy your players for you…they would just bought you out instead. Imo what has happened this offseason is simply the result of IU being IU…and little about who is the coach. I think there are 100 other coaches that could be running this program and have similar results with the $$ that has been thrown at this program.  I had little faith that Woody would be fired but I still see little to give me faith that he is the right guy to be running the program.

And I expect this to be the popular take if we do well this year... nothing to do with coaching...we just "bought" ourselves success...

I dont think a portion of the fan base wanting to replace him meant people expected it.

I don't remember anybody saying they thought he was gone. If so, it was a very very small percentage.

While I'm not talking about this site in particular, there was a sizable contingent in social media that started the BS about Cuban being in town, back room deals, and clandestine meetings that would result in Mike Woodson's termination or "retirement."

Sorry you missed it...it was quite funny in retrospect...
