But they did know X was coming off a season where he missed significant time. And had missed a lot of time the season before. It was pretty dumb not to have another PG or at least another Combo guard.

We can argue about it til the cows come home, but in my eyes, it was nothing more than another thing to criticize Woodson about...

A 13th kid on the roster, especially one that we could have gotten in the time frame that we had, wasn't going to make a difference to our season...

So each year they have a chance to negotiate for another NIL deal?  That has to be exhausting for everyone involved.

I think that's about the only way it can be played at this point...

The kids all have representation (and the really smart ones get a pro, and not some family member/friend who thinks they know how to talk money), and I'm sure the schools/collectives have certain people representing their interest as well...

At this point, it's kinda the Wild West...But we seem to have gotten ahead of the game, and are already pretty good at it...

I have a question about the NIL and the "Extra" money i heard was added this year.

Is this extra money only for this year?  Do these players we're buying get this extra money for the whole time they are at IU or just this year?  Is a NIL deal for the whole time they play for a school or can they negotiate each year?

I really don't have much of an idea what rules are around the NIL

    That's the $64 dollar question...

    This explains the guidelines...

But I think anyone who believes these kids are visiting and signing without numbers being negotiated are only fooling themselves...And I'd think year to year would be all they're good for with the way the portal is bustling...

Galloway was a senior last year and still didn’t show me any leadership. Not sure if that will be the case this year. He could though….especially if he sacrifices and is willing to take on a stopper role and a spark plug guy off the bench.

Its hard to be a leader when you are the new guy but yes…hopefully someone emerges.

I thought Trey got better with his leadership as the year wore on...The Ohio State game in Columbus and the 5 game streak at the end, I thought he led very well...

You'd think being a coach's kid it'd be a natural fit, but it just doesn't suit some players...

If that’s the only explanation, that’d make me nervous. Freshman get better. But his Ortg was 91.7, which would’ve been better than CJ Gunn but worse than XJ last year. I’d have to think there’s a better explanation than that.

With similar numbers, Mackenzie Mgbako was Co-Big 10 Freshman of the Year...

People act like experience doesn't matter...it does...a lot...

Carlyle, Rice, and Mgbako all have a year of college basketball under their belts, and they're physically more mature...they'll improve...

Can someone explain Carlyle’s numbers from last year? Looking at them, they look pretty subpar. 32% from 3, 54% at the rim, 40% from mid range. More TOs per game than assists.

Was he just asked to do too much, not put in the best position, injury, all of the above? He seems to be pretty universally considered a top transfer, so I’m guessing there’s some explanation. Just trying to understand what his game will look like with the starting 5 we have next year.

    He was a freshman

  7. I'm beginning to like Cubs color analyst Jim Deshaies...when Nico Hoerner had a 3-1 count, Deshaies says, "put it in the box, Nico. One pitch, one spot." Sure enough, Hoener hits a single to left...

To which Deshaies say, "Nothing like hitting advice from an .079 lifetime hitter." 🙂
