I was at an Expos-Cardinals game in 81 or 82, and during BP walked down by the visitors bullpen (which at the time was down the left field line). Bahnsen was signing some autographs. I see him looking up in the stands. There was a stunning lady in a black dress standing in the aisle just above me. Bahnsen takes a ball, writes something on it (guessing hotel room number or something like that) and tells this 10 year old kid he'd just signed for to give it to the lady... Kids runs right past her to the concourse Heard Bahnsen say, "that little mother$#+?!$#!"

The vast majority of posters want Mike Woodson fired... Now, tomorrow, or at the end of the season (that varies) A few don't... And I did that as a public service (since you knew who Ernie Lombardi was 🙂) I never took a pen pal after my father in law told me what a mess his WW2 pen pal, Gunda Bierschneiter of Velburg, got him in with his wife after the war... He said the Battle of the Bulge (which he was in) paled by comparison 😁

I always support the program, the kids, and the coach...I didn't care for it when Sampson rolled into town with the NCAA hot on his heels, but I watched every game and rooted just as hard as I do now... But, my initial feelings did turn out to be true...

What odds do I get? A lot of variables...Don't know who we'll have on the roster...But let's just say if we have a nucleus of Reneau, Mgbako, and Cupps, I feel good about our chances...I'll be excited to see 2 shooters like McNeely and Mgbako out there... LOL...I burned $20 to prove the experience stuff...Hell yeah...at 10-1 I'd put $100 down

We do have a 5 star kid coming in? Right? There's another (Davis) who might be in this class too...and 25 has always been the big target...Very few have made a decision...If Woody totally whiffs there, then you might have a point... If Dolson is going to let the pitchforks and torches crowd make his decision, then he's not much of a leader...And I don't believe that's the case... I get it...You want Woody gone...I'm not trying to dissuade anyone off that point... I think he deserves another year...Simple as that Time will tell...

I've said numerous times, if next year is mediocre and Dolson wants to make a change, I'd be all for it...

2021-22 XJ was honorable mention All Big 10...I don't think it's a giant leap of faith to think he could elevate that... He has struggled with consistency, but always seemed to have an interruption, injury or self inflicted just when he was rolling... Honest question...Do you believe that this season would be different if XJ was healthy all year?

No, I'm arguing that the struggle that Woody and this IU team has experienced this year happens to even the best coaches...Do you agree or disagree with that?

Again, not the point of contention...Pearl can struggle just like any other coach...

Point 1 is 100% valid...I'm not sure anyone thought Trey would regress so badly... Point 4 was kinda interrupted by injuries, no? Did you watch the game yesterday? Did XJ make a difference?

Not "flailing" at all...It was case in point that ALL coaches can and do struggle at times... Pearl's first 3 years shows that's true in his case as well...In addition look at 2020-21...13-14 and 7-11...So to say we'd can Mike Woodson over this year, and have "sure thing" Bruce Pearl take over is nuts to me...That's the point of debate...

It was a simple question...Would ANY coach have survived with that record at IU...I think we all know the answer... You need to watch this video then determine for yourself if Scott Dolson would trade Mike Woodson and Bruce Pearl... I realize that this video was after Woody's first year, but "sticking with the plan" and "no timetable for success" are kinda the root of Scott Dolson as an AD...He cut his teeth under Knight, and I think he understands that every coach...Every coach, can have a year where things don't go as planned...He was a manager on the 85 team, so it's not like he's never seen IU finish under .500 in Big 10 play...
