I've said numerous times, if next year is mediocre and Dolson wants to make a change, I'd be all for it...

2021-22 XJ was honorable mention All Big 10...I don't think it's a giant leap of faith to think he could elevate that... He has struggled with consistency, but always seemed to have an interruption, injury or self inflicted just when he was rolling... Honest question...Do you believe that this season would be different if XJ was healthy all year?

No, I'm arguing that the struggle that Woody and this IU team has experienced this year happens to even the best coaches...Do you agree or disagree with that?

Again, not the point of contention...Pearl can struggle just like any other coach...

Point 1 is 100% valid...I'm not sure anyone thought Trey would regress so badly... Point 4 was kinda interrupted by injuries, no? Did you watch the game yesterday? Did XJ make a difference?

Not "flailing" at all...It was case in point that ALL coaches can and do struggle at times... Pearl's first 3 years shows that's true in his case as well...In addition look at 2020-21...13-14 and 7-11...So to say we'd can Mike Woodson over this year, and have "sure thing" Bruce Pearl take over is nuts to me...That's the point of debate...

It was a simple question...Would ANY coach have survived with that record at IU...I think we all know the answer... You need to watch this video then determine for yourself if Scott Dolson would trade Mike Woodson and Bruce Pearl... I realize that this video was after Woody's first year, but "sticking with the plan" and "no timetable for success" are kinda the root of Scott Dolson as an AD...He cut his teeth under Knight, and I think he understands that every coach...Every coach, can have a year where things don't go as planned...He was a manager on the 85 team, so it's not like he's never seen IU finish under .500 in Big 10 play...

A little bit more than a double standard based on the results, wouldn't you say? No one is denying Pearl can coach...But he's not exactly the moral standard bearer when it comes to college basketball...

Interesting take...Pearl didn't have any real success at Auburn until around 2017...Here's that roster... He went from having 1 RSCI top 100 kid to 5...and his top 3 players were all freshman... So I wonder...What would be the allure of playing basketball at Auburn? History? No...The Cliff Ellis years were ok, but other than that, nothing... OH! Maybe Pearl met them in "Person?"

Crean had to play a lot of kids that had no business playing D1 basketball at a P6 school...Despite what's been said in this thread previously, if you look at what Pearl walked into, he had some talent there...400+ games of D1 basketball experience...Crean had Devan Dumas, Kyle Taber and 12 freshmen (including walkons)...

Hey, we're getting better! Against Maryland we had an 18.4% chance! And I cited the the 3 point stat simply because Williams Arena has notoriously bad sight lines for shooters... Gotta pound it inside

Interesting stat of the day... In Big 10 play, when IU shoots 16 3 pointers or more, our record is 2-7...When we shoot 15 or less, 6-3...

I simply used Timberlake as ONE example...there could have been better choices, but also could have been worse...And I'm not going to cover every guy we were (supposedly) on... Disagree with that...I don't think Timberlake makes much of a difference for us this year... Not much to say Timberlake over Gunn... Haven't watched enough of Kansas to see Timberlake on the defensive end, but I'm not sure Timberlake is a better defender...He's definitely struggled from distance against better competition... Now Knecht is a different story...But he opted to go elsewhere...it happens...

Depends on who we could have grabbed...The name I heard most was Nick Timberlake...Look at his stats this year and tell me he would have helped... As far as "optics" goes, I'm not a big fan of either "optics" or "perception." I'm more of a real world/truth kinda guy...

Why do you feel the need to get involved? We know what you think about the NIL and paying players, even though the Polly Purebreds at Purdue think they don't... Worry more about your team getting past the first round...

So, after I thought about it, and realized I'd spent $28 dollars on my wife and I at Grab N Go Tacos yesterday I spent the $22 bucks to get all access to Kenpom... Here are the Big 10 experience rankings...I had to copy and paste it into a spreadsheet ...Higher, of course, in the first column means more experience..2nd is where the team ranks overall Of ALL the teams in D1 basketball, we're 225th... Of the P6 (B10, B12, ACC, SEC, Big East, and Pac 12) only these teams have less experience than we do...
