  1. Yeah...Better to be a Monday morning quarterback, right? The very first sentence in the very first post explains it... No guts, no glory I guess...
  2. Tre(y)? Buch(k)et? Were they prescient? 🙂
  3. Yeah, I remember... And a lot at 3rd his first year with the Cubs... He and Ernie Banks were my only sure things
  4. Doing a full Cubs grid was challenging...The "One Team" alone was tough, simply because the Cubs either traded players too early (Lou Brock), picked them up when they were washed up (Dizzy Dean) , or were too cheap to keep them from free agency (Grace, Maddox)...
  5. OK, so I tried to match @5fouls and was going pretty good til I guessed Joe Tinker and Gabby Hartnett...The only non-Cub was Mike Squires who I remembered was the last lefty to play catcher in MLB (White Sox)
  6. The difference is that Tom Allen has a full 7 years to perform, was 2 years removed from his high water season (and one of two where he had a winning record)... One or two more games weren't going to save him... Like I say, I'm not going to belabor it, but I can't imagine myself rooting for IU or any IU coach or team to fail... I just don't have that in me...
  7. See? I don't get this line of thinking at all... I mean, @Hoosierdave I'm not trying to tell anyone how to think, but #1 you're kicking dirt on the "corpse" before it stops breathing, and #2 I would never, under any circumstances, root for IU to tank or lose to achieve some sort of perceived advantage in what may or may not be a coaching search... I really just don't get it...
  8. There lies the rub... If the story that Buckner inserted himself is true, then I view Dolson in the same light I do Greenspan when he allegedly gave into Adam Herbert in the Sampson hire. Ultimately no matter what happens, the results lie at your feet..
  9. I'm just wondering which of y'all is Paul Pelosi?
  10. Maybe as a backup? I always hear that we'd be better with Mac at the 4 and Reneau at the 5...And I'm not sure Sparks will ever see significant minutes at IU...My thought on him is that the very thing that DOES get him time (hustle and aggressiveness) lead to the mistakes he makes when he does play... Anyway, I guess we just have to wait and see...As I said previously, Woody isn't going to quit...And if Dolson goes to the powers that be with his hat in his hand saying he wants to buy Woody out, then he'd probably better have his own resume in order...
  11. I thought we were better off without 2 bigs on the floor?
  12. It looked like a great atmosphere...The family of Bryce Jordan probably wouldn't like it, but I'm sure Mr Hall (whoever he is ) would
  13. I don't think there's little likelihood at all...If we have Mgbako, Reneau, Cupps, Galloway back, and we add McNeely, I think that's a solid place to start from...Of course, there's a lot of unsubstantiated speculation that everyone is leaving or whatever...I personally think if Woodson is terminated, then I'm almost sure we'd be starting with a blank roster...
  14. As I said, you can't keep saying you want something while overlooking the reason schools like Purdue and Wisconsin got where they are...
  15. At Indiana, yeah...At Purdue or Wisconsin it would have gone a bit longer...And we keep saying we want a program like theirs...
  16. Some seem to think if you disagree and present facts or an alternate opinion in rebuttal, it's somehow an "insult"... If Mike Woodson is the coach next year, and we have another year like this, I'd be very much on board with him being let go...I don't care if people agree with that or not...It's an opinion formulated on what I see as the facts and fairness... Simple as that...
  17. OK, then...What IS the criteria? I'm just not buying that metrics, or the "it isn't that we lose, it's HOW we lose." All coaches are going to be judged on their won/loss record...I don't care how ugly it is on either side...A win is a win, and a loss is a loss...No coach is going to get fired for "winning ugly." Do you honestly think we're going to bring in a coach that will have us in the Final 4 immediately? Here's a list that addresses just that...The favored sons like Pearl (1 FF in 20 years), Beard (1 in 8 years), and Musselman (never been in 9 years). On average, it takes 10.5 years for a coach to reach the Final 4... So I'm just not real sure on what y'all want?
  18. To be clear, the reason I thought CAM should get another year was the COVID deal, the fact that by all accounts we would have gone to the tournament that year, and that $10 million dollar roadblock... But I didn't know money was so cheap And saying Dolson isn't going to fire Woody right now has more to do with how that'll look to the donors/trustees, than the money part of it...
  19. Y'all have short memories...Miller had the "generational player" and finished 12-17 and 7-12 in the Big 10 in his last year...
  20. Again, though, you ignore the first 2 years and why we terminated Miller... Hey, I'll be the first to say this year has been disappointing and hasn't met what I expected of the team. And that's fine. Any coach can have an off year...Beard, Pearl, Musselman have all had bad seasons...it's the way college basketball has always worked...Kids graduate/leave and new kids take their place... We always look at Wisconsin, Purdue, and Michigan State (while holding our noses) and wonder why we can't be like them...One word...We don't have stability. And firing up the coaching carousel every time we have a bad game isn't a recipe for success....
  21. Facts are facts, and no matter how many times someone presents them to you, you ignore them... You dispute that Mike Woodson knows more about basketball than anyone on here? Really? Because that was the only statement I made about his knowledge. And that's kind of undeniable...As for posting off topic, show me where...Dissenting is not "off topic." You don't want a debate...You want absolute agreement...You're not going to get it here without rolling out a few facts to back them up... If you don't "give two shits" about my opinion, then why even read anything I post?
  22. Mike Woodson is NOT going to quit, or retire for that matter. I think some of you overlook that the guy got off of back surgery and 6 weeks later led IU to a Big 10 championship and was the Big 10 PoY. That's not to say, as @Artesian_86 iterated, that because he's "IU Royalty" he shouldn't be canned if the situation warrants (it doesn't), but it does show a toughness that you can't overlook. He's mentally tough and he's a competitor...Quitting isn't in him Why did we fire Archie Miller? Because he could not beat Purdue or get to the NCAA tournament. Yet we get a guy who accomplishes both of those tasks in his first two years, and because we have one down year, we're ready for Dolson to go back to the donors, ask for another $12.5 million dollars to cover what would be essentially admitting he made a mistake. He's not going to do that.
