  1. Always... They act like they're on some UCLA type run... Like I said, we're 3-3 against them in the Woody era...and they've lost to double digit seeds the last 2 years... If that's the zenith of Purdue basketball... 🤣 It's going to be enjoyable next year watching them play without Edey... I wonder if Painter has put in for Berg's lane parking pass yet?
  2. So we're after Mark Few, Billy Gillespie, and Bob Huggins?
  3. When: Wednesday, March 6th 9:00 PM EST Where: Williams Arena (The Barn), Minneapolis, Minnesota TV: BTN 2nd year coach Ben Johnson (40-50 overall 15-42 in Big 10 play) leads his Gophers (18-11 9-9) into a game with our Hoosiers in the venerable Barn, a notoriously difficult place to play. Minnesota comes in losers of 2 of their last 3, but are 7-2 at home, and have won 5 straight in Williams Arena. The Gophers are led by 6'11 senior transfer (North Carolina) Dawson Garcia. The versatile big man can post up, or drift outside and hit the 3, although his outside shooting hasn't been spectacular. Freshman Cam Christie, who is a lock to make the Big 10 All-Freshman team, checks in at 12 ppg, and shoots 42% from 3 in league play. He also has a good mid-range game, but doesn't go to the basket all that often. 6'2 junior transfer (Pepperdine) Mike Mitchel (11 ppg 40% from 3) and 5'11 junior transfer (Howard) Elijah Hawkins (10 ppg 37% from 3 8 apg) make up the backcourt. Ben Johnson made a change to his starting lineup last game replacing Pharrel Payne at the 5 with senior Parker Fox. Fox is another of those high energy guys that comes in and makes plays. Fox is a great story suffering 2 ACL injuries in the past 2 years, but hanging with it. He does all of those "little things" that help teams win. If Johnson does stick with that lineup, then Payne will be one of the first off the bench. Another high energy player, who seemed to have lost a bit of that the last 2 games I watched of him. Still a formidable force around the rim on both ends. 6'4 sophomore Braeden Carrington had been getting good minutes off the bench, but was held out Saturday against Penn State with a concussion. His status is unknown. Joshua Ola-Joseph seems to have fallen out of favor with Johnson, but he's another high energy guy that can come off the bench and produce. Isaiah Ihnen also sees spot minutes. IU beat Minny at SSAH in January 74-62, holding the Gophers to 39% shooting overall and 15% from 3. Our frontcourt combined for 52 points, and we shot 6-14 from 3. We did give up 18 second chances via offensive boards, and were out rebounded overall 40-38. The Barn is a tough place to play with the raised floor and the poor shooting sight lines. This will be a tough one to win, but we should be able to go inside with some success. In the first game, Gabe, who started and played 30 minutes, didn't score and had 4 boards, 1 assist, and 1 turnover. He did do a good job on Hawkins, holding him to 5 points. Hopefully, we can continue our good play and pull out another road victory...Let's take it to them... GO HOOSIERS!
  4. <Sigh> If you look at starting lineups, this year our prevailing starting lineup is Cupps, Galloway, Ware, Mgbako, and Reneau and with that lineup, we're 8-8...That group is also our top 5 this year in minutes played per game...they combine for 173 starts at the D1 level... The team we played yesterday's starting lineup had 414 starts at the D1 level...Purdue? 397...Illinois? 445... Even Ohio State's most prevalent lineup has 302 starts under their belt... Leal and Walker are bit players, but I know you threw them in to prop up your argument...But it doesn't... So the facts say, yes, we're an inexperienced group...But don't let facts get into the way of the "Fire Woody" argument...
  5. Yeah, we are... Experience means something in college basketball...
  6. 😂 Well, I know your generation thinks they never lose, so here you go... Even in the baby crap yellow and black of Purdue...
  7. The bad losses, and we have had more than a few, I attribute to our youth... Our starting 5 against Wisconsin had aggregate 178 starts... Or less than Wahl and Hepburn... Or Edey and Jones... Or Sissoko and Hoggard... I know the Woody bashers deny it, but it's the truth... Starting 2 sophomores and 2 freshmen is a tough road to hoe... I believe Woody will be back as well, and for all of the caterwauling about transfers, I think we'll have a solid nucleus back...Add a couple of transfers and get a no crap shooter like McNeely and let's see how it goes...
  8. But to some, the entirety of Mike Woodson's tenure has been "mediocre" and that's just not the truth... And I think that your opinion that Bruce Pearl will never coach IU is a valid one...
  9. Yeah... Jealous You probably weren't even born the last time Purdue went to a Final 4...
  10. So you normally tell people face to face to "shut it" when they don't agree with you? Ok... Winning on the road in the Big 10 is tough, no matter who you play... Purdue found that out at Ohio State... Mike Woodson is 3-3 against Purdue and went as far as they did in the tournament his first year, and a game farther, against a higher seed, his second... If this is the Apex of Purdue basketball, getting beat by double digit seeds every year with not only a "generational player" but now by some accounts "The Greatest Boilermaker Ever" then good for them...
  11. Again, no one said it was... Was 1985 the "standard" during Coach Knight's tenure? And I see you dodged my question... Probably better off...
  12. Yeah... How many times do I have to read "we're gonna lose out" or "we're gonna get beat by double digits" before I'm convinced you're the former in your first sentence? No, we're not "great." No one said we are. But we're not "terrible" either... Let me ask you this since you're so hung up on Xavier Johnson...Do you think we win the game with Cupps getting XJ's minutes today?
  13. They also became a laughingstock by being only the 2nd team to lose to a 16 seed... Even in their glory years they screw it up...
  14. How many times did Purdue beat us last year?
  15. Get past the first round and we'll talk...
  16. Why would I be jealous? IU has more Men's basketball championships that Purdue has TOTAL NCAA championships... What are you going to put Painter's name on? A popcorn stand?
  17. "What is, two guys who've never been to a Final 4, Alex"
  18. Hey, look... It's fair weather outside!
  19. No we can't get top 4... Nebraska has 10 wins, but they beat us twice...
  20. You know y'all are making me homesick...
