  9. Happens on both sides... But if we can't cast aside our differences with less than 50 people on a message board, we're not getting 350 million on the same page... And if we can't, then your politics won't matter...

  11. Please, I don't want to get this thread shut down, so let's stay away from finger pointing and Monday morning quarterbacking and look forward. That's going to be essential to American success...if we're splintered, were doomed... Or as Benjamin Franklin said... "We must all hang together, or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately."
  12. Hopefully, this galvanizes our country and makes us put aside the petty differences that have driven us apart...I think the vast majority of Americans understand what's at stake here... “Those who don't know history are destined to repeat it.”

"To anyone who would consider interfering from outside: If you do, you will face consequences greater than any you have faced in history," he said, according to Politico's translation of the speech. "All the relevant decisions have been taken. I hope you hear me." His speech also alluded to the substantial nuclear arsenal he commands, noting that Russia "is today one of the most powerful nuclear powers," Chilling...
  15. Interesting article on Ukraine giving up nukes that the USSR had left behind and the assurances they were given...
  16. Not yet...but my fear is they will be forced to eventually... And I'm waiting for the sabres to start rattling between China and Taiwan...
  17. I've read it...twice. Cover to cover, and all of the footnotes too. Own a paperback copy, which I browse now and again. When I made the comparison to 1936 it was simply a broad statement about the actions themselves. I considered 2 things. Hitler's hatred of the Treaty of Versailles, and his wish to (initially) unite the German speaking people of the Rhineland, and eventually Austria and the Sudetenland. Putin was a young KGB officer during the glory years of the USSR. I think his tipping point was the fall of the Berlin Wall and the subsequent disbanding of the USSR. Those are simple, but relevant parallels. I don't want to start this thread down the geopolitical road...just wanted a place to discuss this significant world event...
  18. Michigan beating the crap out of the Scarlet Knights...up 14 under 3 to go...
  19. Rutgers in Ann Arbor down 2 to the Wolverines with 2:50 left in the 1st...
