  1. Well, hang in there Hoss. I hope you feel better soon. We're all thinking about you here... Keep us up to date when you feel like it...
  2. How are ya doin Scott? Hanging in there? Parents ok?
  3. For all you "Tiger King" watchers, my oldest daughter sent me this today...thought it was funny...
  4. And that has me concerned. Their economy goes south, and I can see a global conflict brewing...
  5. I was just looking over at the MLB thread, and was thinking about the third piece of the balancing act (death from the virus and financial/work considerations of course being the first two) and that's the mental health issue. I know it's been talked about in this thread some, but I also believe it is the most overlooked aspect of all of this. How many people are we going to lose because they can't cope with the stress? How many will succumb to addictions? Believe me, I understand the personal side of this, and the accompanying fear, but society has to get back to some semblance of normality.
  6. You tip them? Really? I've never even considered it. I'll ask some of my cohorts that live and work in the South Jersey area if it's the norm, but I don't think so... And if someone asked me why I don't tip the gas station attendant, I'd probably say the same thing I cited earlier in this thread that Jerseyites say when asked why an attendant has to pump their gas in the first place...😀
  7. That is correct...if you get out of your car at a filling station in Jersey, someone will tell you to get back in your car... I go to Atlantic City about 4 times a year for business...the running joke with people from Jersey is, when someone from another state asks why they can't pump their own gas is, "Because f you, that's why." Even the women...cracks me up every time...
  8. Though it was reported that way by some, it was really more of a reorganization and streamlining within the NSC... Reuters article on it...
  9. And this is what concerns me about the whole "globalism" thing... There's always going to be a world leader, and the farther we progress into globalism and blurred nationalism, the ideas of democracy and socialism/communism will clash...the country with the upper hand globally, will call the shots...and if it's China or Russia (who, while dangerous, aren't nearly as aggressive as the Chinese) democracy will eventually be a casualty... We basically saw a microcosm of this post WW2 in Germany... I'm not saying we're as pure as the new driven snow in global activity, but believe me, we're a helluva lot more benevolent than the Chinese or Russians would ever be...
  10. I'm not a big fan of crackpot conspiracy or rumor mongering on either side... But I think one thing can be ascertained in what we've discovered in the last few years, and especially the last few months... The Chinese Communist Party are not our friends... Not in trade... Not in intellectual property... And not in the search for answers to the Corona virus issue... It's clear they want to supplant the US as the world's super power... And they've been doing it right before our eyes with at the very least inattention, and at the most alarming the complicity of multiple administration's...
  11. Love history too...my favorite book is "Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" by William Shirer...great book on how Germany and the Nazis evolved from post WW1 and the Treaty of Versailles...
  12. I'm about 25 miles north-northeast of Houston...rural area and we have to drive to get any kind of food beyond fast food... Like Pad Thai but my favorite Oriental dish is Korean Bibimbap...they do have some decent Korean restaurants in the city...our favorite is Korea Garden...I don't get the egg on my Bibimbap, but a nice side of kimchi...
  13. Pad Thai for Texas? I don't even know where they think you'd get a good version of authentic Pad Thai around here...Pei Wei? 😟
  14. I'd forgotten that Billy Martin was the Tiger's manager at the time...if he'd have gotten to Campy, that would have been a donnybrook...
  15. Did it mention the Lerrin LaGrow incident? I remember watching that live...a guy would get 10 games easy for that today...
  16. Yep...pretty good SS for some pretty good A's teams... The second guy that pulled it off is a little tougher...
  17. Ok, 5 major league players have played all 9 position in one game... Who was the first to accomplish this versatile feat?
  18. Glad it doesn't have you down like it has some people...
  19. Bill Kilmer (fumbler) and Jim Marshall
  20. Dave Williams of the Bears I think...
  21. Yep, Dave Hampton in 1972... He finished 3 yards short of 1,000 the next year too...but he eventually got his, and the Falcons, first 1,000 yard rushing season in 1975...
  22. Paul Robinson had over 1,000 yards for the Bengals in their initial season (his rookie year) 1968... So you have the team...
