What can he even do in that role?
Anything but coach on game days and recruit off campus. He's there to help Woodson schedule games, work the rules. Run a college program.

Then why hasn't another franchise hired him in 6 years? Because he's uninspiring to even NBA franchises. You couldn't sell a Woodson head coaching hire to an NBA fanbase in 2021. He's got zero college coaching or recruiting experience and it just seems flat lazy. Seems to me they swung for Stevens and then went right to Woodson, without ever even trying for Beard, Muss, Oats, etc.
This could definitely work out, but we absolutely lost the press conference. The good news is winning games is more important than winning press conferences.
Dolson never lied to anyone. he flat out said it was going to be someone from indiana that had NBA ties. only a hand full of people fit that.

That kind of surprises me...
Like I said, take a look at his NBA record with 2 woeful franchises...He improved every year in Atlanta, going from 13 wins the 1st year, to 53 when the Hawks in their infinite wisdom decided not to bring him back, and the Knicks, well, you know about them...But he coached them to a 1st place finish in the Atlantic Division in 2014...Just for a refresher, here are his numbers...
...
The guy can coach and players love him. The list of All Stars he's coached is impressive.

I'm trying to talk myself into being remotely excited about this, but it just isn't happening.
Boston hates New York.

Dolson just sucks. My hunch about him was spot on.
We paid $10M and Utah and Marquette got better hires. Tom Crean and Archie are laughing their a$$es off.
no one wants this job....you could have Woodson or Alford. Go read what his former players say about him. This may turn out to be the greatest hire ever. I'm glad the site crashed. i was thining like you until i started reading things. Dolson had only a couple of choices here, we arent what we used to be. not everyone can coach here or wants the bullshit that goes with it.

Yep. I kinda like our guys in the portal. That way the new coach can simply recruit back the ones he wants and let go of the ones he doesn’t. Won’t be stuck with left over ground chuck and can go get some prime angus steak!
Players are starting to sign. MIch.St. got a good one today.

True but, and I cringe saying this, but IU was a competitive 12-15. If most of the guys leave, we’re a Nebraska dumpster fire.
Thats why its important to get the right guy. To keep the ones you want.

Not directed at you, just a general comment, but with open season transferring going on and a coaching change, what did we expect? Going to find out who really wanted to be a HOOSIER from the get-go when they came here.
Totally agree and said the same things. With the portal it will be so much easier now than Crean had it to bring in good players right away. 12-15, what are we really losing. Archie wasnt the problem a lone.

I am glad he is no longer a Pacer. Kind of wonder why he has been in 5 organizations In 8 years
From some of the things i've been told Vic went from being my fav. hoosier to below Bracy Wright and Kelvin Sampson.

Wish Victor would have stayed in town but now I'll have reasons to take in a couple of Heat games each winter. Also like seeing him in a franchise that is very, very solid from top to bottom. Hopefully his last stop.
ITS not the Pacers fault Vic is gone.

Wonder what is going on with the Pacers because I have seen reports that they could look to trade Sabonis and Brogdon
Neither one can guard you or I is why they are trade bait.

Victor finally lands where he wanted, now maybe he'll stop tearing a part locker rooms and be a good team mate.

If guys only want to play for a coach and not IU then they dont get what IU is about to start with. The portal will make us better quicker. No Worries about who leaves in the end.

Crean never had the portal to pull from. The new coach will if we lose players. Which we knew we would.I'm betting 1500 or more in the portal this season with the free movement.

Brad's only 44. He figures he'll get five more chances to coach at IU.
Thats why I like Bellien. 4 to 6 years, Turns things around, Stevens comes home.

I like the Arkansas coach. Dude can recruit transfers really well. Turned Nevada around and took Arkansas to the 2nd round so far. Only problem is I don’t think he would leave. Arkansas has a pretty big basketball following based on their attendance records
Reminds me of a young Jerry Tarkanian. Takes every ones transfers.

Our best coach threw a chair on to the court etc. Losing it doesn't mean you can't coach. The results are there. But I get it. But I would definitely talk with him.
Losing your temper and losing your nerve and functions are 2 different things. Just saying what I saw first hand and no way I would talk to him. Another question is why hasnt he coached again?

Out of curiosity, why not Matta?
I sat right behind there bench at the B10 toun. one year. Mata was lost and panicked in the huddle and the assistant had to grab the clipboard and draw up the play. I thought Mata had a stroke.
