I was there when Jakes turned to Mars. Lots of great memories. One of my roommates won the hotbod contest just about every Thursday night. She was well deserving for sure!!

Nice(feel free to message me proof) lol.  Jake's had dime beer night every Thursday.  Oh the headaches you'd get from that Little Kings.  lol  Always had a good time there though.  Listening to Live music and trying to dance.   Who remembers the Oliver Syndrom and the Rod and Cones?

I believe there is a Taco Johns in one of the dorms if that counts?

That's cool.  Nothing like Taco Tuesday there.   The old one was over on 10th street in a strip mall.  The Wooden Nickle record store was right next to it.  Another place that got a lot of my $$$ back in the day.

Don’t know what The Vid is.

Back in the day we would hang out at Time Out, kinda catty corner from the Bluebird

There are several bars/clubs and restaurants from back in the day(85-89) that aren't with us now.

Jake's, The Peanut Barrel,  J. Arthurs, Garcia's Pizza and Taco Johns to name a few.

There's really something to be said to hearing about your favorite restaurants and bars when you were a college kid, now in your 50s, and they're still there and going. Bloomington going strong, Give me Mother Bears, Little Zagreb's, Runcible Spoon, Nick's English Hut, Cafe Pizzaria, Village Deli....

Dagwoods Deli opened my freshman year.  Funny Dagwoods story... living in the dorm on the meal plan meant Sunday night on your own.  Which living in Wilkie and being broke usually meant breadsticks at the Noble Romans a block away.  Anyway... one rainy Sunday night my roomie and I splurges and decided to order subs from this new place in town(Dagwoods).   It was far from a good experience(took forever and the guy dropped my roomies sandwich in a puddle getting out of his car).  But damn wet bread and all we were sold on the Hoosier Hoagie.   Every visit to Btown always includes a Dagwoods stop.

I don't think they really care. They're willing to risk a lot to try to fix things now.

Maybe so.   I have no problem with them Boycotting the season.  Just not sure how it helps.   The league and players did a lot to raise awareness since coming back.   Despite low ratings those messages were seen by thousands of fans around the country.   By ending the season early that stage disappears.

Anybody know Cody's contract status with Charlotte?  I sure would like to see him someplace else.

His contract is through next season so a move is possible soon.   Would love to see him stay healthy and have a big season.

I was wondering the same thing. I know it could just be an iu football thing or really nothing in general, but Rabjohns tweeting this made me curious

AD announcement maybe.  247 has an article today.  Headline read Notable developments happening this week in IUs AD search.

Yes...too many stories of similar situations from different people in my life. I've seen a grandfather threating to fight his son who he thought was looking at his watch and wanting it (he will have to pry it from his cold dead hands) and a grandmother animatedly accusing her 95 year old wheel chair/on oxygen husband of cheating on her with the cafeteria lady....and not so nicely wording it...language she had never used in her life. It is sad...but you cherish the good moments and are understanding the bad ones are simply from the disease and you make sure they feel loved and cherished to the end.

Omg the "filters" that we all have with language and speaking our thoughts out loud are out the door when dementia hits.  My sweet little grandma that I never ever heard swear or say a bad thing about anyone became the opposite.  She became just downright mean and cussed like a sailor.  We all kinda chuckle now at family gatherings thinking about how many of the in home help she ran off because she thought they were trying to steal my grandpa away.   Lol they weren't.

I hope he does make it back to AH soon for a game.   As the season goes on the likelihood of it happening lessons though.  I wonder if just a tour of Cook and AH would be a way to ease him back.  Maybe stopping in on a practice.  No press but have someone with the athletic dept taking a few pics maybe.  As a fan I'd love to see just that.

Exactly Mile. I was there, saw him bantering with the hysterics guys, fans and players. Didn’t miss a beat. Obviously he’s not 100% but unless things have taken a drastic turn in the last few months, he still appeared to be pretty with it to me.

The thing about dementia/alzheimers though is there are good days and bad.  Even times of the day when a person's mind may be clearer than others   Having dealt with family with this disease in the past and currently you never know what they may say or do.  From a distance things may look fine but they aren't.   One of the toughest days in my life was the morning my mother didn't recognize me   I tear up everytime I think of that morning.  Luckily her mind was clearer later that day and she knew who I was and had no recollection of her talk with me.   Sadly I know one day soon she probably won't remember me.    Watching someone's mind being stolen away is one of the saddest things you'll ever see.

Highly doubt it. Has had several invitations in the past. And has come up with various excuses as to why not to attend.

Rather, if he does show up. It would be unexpected.  As when he showed up for an IU baseball game.

Coach Knight's condition(dementia if accurate) is such I'm sure it will be somewhat a spur of the moment kinda showing(if it happens).   I could see it playing out like this one day.  Pat stops by one morning and says, "Hey Dad I'm going to see Indiana play tonite with some of the guys.  You wanna come?"  Coach says, "Yea son I think I'd like that." Then Pat gets on the phone and let's Archie, Glass and as many former players know.  Pat picks him up a few hours later and they sneak in a side entrance at AH.  At some point before the game Chuck Crabb announces to the crowd the very special guest and the crowd goes wild.  Coach stands up and gives a wave... Not a dry eye in the building.

With dementia the ending could change in an instant though.  Pat could come by to pick him up only to find Coach in his pjs watching a fishing show on TV.  With zero recollection about saying he wanted to go the game.

I just hope he comes back before things get worse and while he still remembers all the good times.

Lifted this quote from Coach Knight at Hoosier Hysterics from another site...

“This was a great place to coach, and it was an opportunity to coach a lot of great kids,” Knight said. “And more important than that, we just about beat everybody’s ass.”

Made me smile...Coach Knight isn't done just yet!

Maybe you missed it but the video of him talking and saying that is on page one of this thread.  It's worth a watch.

Both Cody and Romeo are out tonight.

The Hornets announcers said Cody was out for personal reasons.   No idea what it could be but hopefully everything gets better/fixed soon for him.   He had such a good start the other night.

  13. So anybody watch that show The Masked Singer?   I'm 100% sure Victor is one of the singers.  And according to this article I'm not alone.

    https://ftw.usatoday.com/2019/09/masked-singer-victor-oladipo-thingamajig

None of the judges guessed it was him but any Hoosier fan would have picked up it was him with the hints he gave.

I believe the shows were all recorded earlier this Summer so we can't stuff the ballot box for him.
