  1. I can’t like this post enough!!!! Post of the year!!!!
  2. Fair points. I’m sure there is some little tweak that gets him more comfortable off the dribble which I also thought was a struggle of his in shooting the three but don’t have exact data to back it. I’m sure there is a site out there that shows his percentages of off dribble threes, posted up threes, and off screen threes
  3. I also think it’s a matter of how we feel about how many of the 4 top 2025 kids we think we are gonna get. 1. You want spots for as many of the 4 as you can and 2. You want some experienced mixed in if you get 2-4 of them. I do think even outside of Indiana the class of 2025 is pretty strong so that could help that mix of young players and portal players.
  4. I’m not sure in his role if he is actually allowed to work with the players.
  5. I’m hoping someone works with him or he gets his own shooting coach in offseason because even if he improves 2-3% from 3 that’s huge for us.
  6. Me too…..A really good shooting guard. I’m really hoping we haven’t heard a TON of guard talk because Conwell is still playing.
  7. To me he either needs to be paired with a shooter or a point guard who can shoot 3s. You can’t have him on the floor for long stretches without a shooter next to him. He takes wayyyy too many 3s for being 30%. His best skill is getting to the hole. When he drives and leaves his feet that’s when he has issues because he makes dumb passes.
  8. Also I just don’t think mgbako is playing the 4 in the NBA so if he’s told he’s a 3 in the NBA then I think he would be very reluctant to play the 4 next year
  9. You don’t think working out muscles has anything to do with shooting? I don’t know your background but have you coach basketball? Your legs have absolutely everything to do with it and if you work the wrong part of muscles in your legs or overwork them then that has a major impact.
  10. I agree with this but if you’re getting Leland Walker plus Tucker plus Perkins plus TG plus Newton plus Mgbako you only have one guy who’s over 35% from 3 and that’s Mgbako at 37. That doesn’t scream a team who will make more 3s. Plus in this scenario leak goes back to not hardly playing. Plus you still would need 3 more 4/5s so that leaves open only 2 spots to get players that are shooters. If 1 of those 2 is Conwell and the other is the dude from Bradley or dude from Evansville then I feel completely different about it.
  11. Wonder if they will pursue? He wouldn’t start but may be a good replacement for sparks?
  12. That means Galloway would play the 3 and Mgbako the 4 and Reneau the 5. Woody hasn’t shown he’s willing to do that very often unless Mgbako’s feedback from NBA is you need to play the 4 which I would be shocked they say that so he is going to want to play the 3. If you have Tucker/galloway at the 2 it means you won’t pursue Conwell which is a horrible mistake and then you must have a high percentage shooter at the point guard position.
  13. Do you really think Woodson will have TG come off the bench? It’s been said Perkins is way better at the 2. IMO Perkins is my backup plan to Conwell. I find out through back channels how interested Conwell is in IU and I throw him a ton of money to sweeten the deal. ISU and SLU can’t offer him what we can IMO. Maybeee SLU but paying Avila and Conwell would be super tough plus trying to build a new team for his style.
  14. Let’s say we take Perkins. What would your starting lineup be? How would you stagger in 3 point shooters so teams don’t pack the lane? What players would you get to back up our starters?
  15. This 1000%. If he comes I hope he helps our team but this move doesn’t truly help our team at all and feel like we will be in same boat as last year. Especially since tuckers strength is mid range. Teams can just pack the lane again.
  16. The problem is Cliff Marshall is used to training nfl guys and while I agree some people need to put on weight it seems a lot of guys that came to us as shooters and all of a sudden have struggles can be linked to him not working on the correct areas needed for basketball players. Also sure seems like our players have had a lot of lower leg injuries. Way more than other schools since he has taken over. I wish an NFL team would come scoop him up
  17. I bet he’s regretting saying those nice things about Woodson now in that press conference LOL
  18. Plus he gets more playing time because DG is a dumb dumb who wouldn’t surprise me if they traded in the offseason especially with how much Trayce has came along and Trayce isn’t a trouble maker.
  19. Nope it was Bobby knight before he locked in on throwing that bad boy
  20. Well his hometown is only 2.5 hours from Champaign so makes sense.
  21. I get that but who you get affects 2025. If you get a bunch of sophomores that play the same position as the 4 -2025 kids compared to getting 4 - 1 year player that makes a difference. Like I said it usually plays itself out but to me you have to plan ahead in roster construction. That’s why it’s probably important to have a person in a role like Thad was in previously that focuses on those types of management.
