But they could have. That’s my point. Not doing so, and instead trading away picks that could have been Mahomes (and 2 other Pro Bowlers), to get Trubisky, is worse than what the Panthers did, in my opinion, at this point. If either Stroud or Williams become as good or better than Mahomes, then I will change my opinion.

And I’m saying 10 teams could have drafted mahomes. So it wasn’t just the bears who passed on mahomes. If the teams knew he would become the QB he has, he would have been drafted #1 and not even been available for the bears to take.

Again, my original point was trading up for Trubisky instead of staying put and taking Mahomes was worse than what the Panthers did. But that’s my opinion, I understand that you may disagree.

If Caleb Williams or CJ Stroud end up being better than Mahomes, then I will change my opinion.

But there is no guarantee the Bears would have taken Mahomes if they didn't trade up. The Panthers made perhaps the second worst trade in NFL history (after the Vikings/Cowboys Herschel Walker trade) by giving up a ton of capital to take Bryce Young. They gave up WAY more than the Bears did to move up. Yes we all know the Bears should have taken Mahomes now, but that trade with Carolina has allowed the Bears to stack their roster with starting caliber players and like you said, if Caleb ends up being a top 5 NFL QB...

I’d rather have Mahomes than all of those guys. But that’s just me. And then you could have also had Kamara and Mark Andrews too.

Again, I am not talking about who the teams that trade up didn't select, but rather who they did select and how much draft capital the teams moving up gave them.

I can go through each draft and find great players who weren't selected where they should have been in hindsight, from Mahomes, to Tom Brady to Puka Nacua.

First off, I was pissed when the Bears did this trade, but 10 teams had the opportunity to draft Mahomes and didn't, so clearly most NFL people did not anticipate him turning into one of the best QBs to play the game. Despite the poor decision of Ryan Pace to pick Trubisky, the Bears did not give up nearly as much to move up the 1 spot as Carolina did to jump up and take Bryce Young.

Bears received/selected the following from the Carolina pick:

Darnell Wright, Tyrique Stevenson, Caleb Williams, DJ Moore, and the 2025 second round pick, and Tory Taylor since they traded back a spot to get Wright from the spot they had from Panthers.

    Pat Mahomes disagrees…

When did the Bears trade with KC? I'm talking about who the Bears received in exchange for the #1 pick they traded with the Panthers not every player a team passed over in the draft. 10 teams could have drafted Mahomes in that draft.

That trade may end up being about as bad as the Bears trade up for Trubiski.

The trubiski trade was stupid but the Carolina trade to bears is already way worse. Look at all the players the bears have already gotten from that trade and we still have Carolina’s second round pick next year.

I have no clue. Simply sharing what I see. I'd be pretty happy as a Bears fan getting the only QB prospect, imo, that has a chance to be a star in this draft and a top 3 WR.

As a Colts fan, we need some depth places--- found that.

The two safeties, corner, and Day 3 WR are all gunna be excellent special teamers and with the new rules could be very valuable.

Colts still have 20+ million in cap space-- with maybe needing a vet Free safety as their only hole? As their only starter spot missing. Maybe you sign a vet corner, too? But idk if the roster space was there.

Outside of spending on that--- I wouldn't mind seeing a chunk of that used to extend Ryan Kelley for a year or two.

I did laugh at espn for having "TE" as a position of need for the Colts, its not.

I think both teams did well and I do read the draft grades as well just as a general reference point.

I was hoping the Bears were going to draft the center Bortolini from Wisconsin...so I was glad that if he didn't go to the Bears, the Colts got him.

It is refreshing that both teams are happy with the draft.  I think both teams have legit chance to make the playoffs next season.

I did see the Bears just signed an undrafted free agent from James Madison, defensive lineman Jamree Kromah, I thought that was cool considering coach Cig coached him.

From the draft grades I have seen, the consensus seems to be the Bears and Colts both received between B+ and A for the draft. I don't put much stock into draft grades for 2/3 years, but I do think both teams drafted well this week.

Caleb Williams ain’t no damn Andrew Luck.

I liked Luck, but thankfully Poles is better GM than Grigson was and will actually try to have an o-line that can protect him some, so Caleb will probably play more than 6 seasons. I’m not saying Caleb is going to be better but I think it’s silly to say he can’t possibly be better when he hasn’t taken a snap in the NFL yet. We’ll all find out in a few years.

This doesn’t bother me at all.  I think the Colts can use some pass rush help from the DE spot and he might be the best one in the draft.  Now go get a WR in round 2.

Yeah, if his medicals are fine, then he can be really good. I figured the Colts were taking defensive player in first round unless maybe Bowers fell to them.

Hearing the interview and watching some of the stuff it might be a character thing. Turner is phenomenal but for this many teams to pass I have to be missing something.

I like Byron Murphy more than Turner on defensive line...I know different positions, but I think Murphy has a ton of potential. But yeah....Turner was being mentioned as going to Atlanta at 8 by many mocks.

We've officially killed the offseason and I'll ask it again. Has a #1 QB ever walked into more talent? DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, Odunze, Swift, Kmet??

Just wow. PS....not sure what the Falcons are thinking giving Cousins a $100M but so happy for Penix.

I'm so happy they took Odunze and didn't trade back in that situation. Take the blue chip receiver to grow with Caleb. I'm all about the Bears reinforcing the trenches with 3rd/4th round picks and next years draft.
