I am totally into MLB this year.  There were several years in a row where I barely even watched the Reds.  Now, I'm watching any game, Reds or otherwise, that I can make time for.

I can honestly say the pitch clock and elimination of the shift saved baseball for me.

This is the first year I’ve really started watching again since pre Covid. I hated the shift and I wasn’t sure about the pitch clock but I have liked it more than I thought…I like games ending under 3 hours for sure.

    Wow...the old shady pickoff play...

I didn't think there was any way they'd overturned that

I thought he was out but I didn't think they would be able to show it was conclusive. I'll take it! Back to .500 on the roadtrip...I'm still irritated by that first loss in San Diego, but hopefully they can take the Arizona series before heading back to the friendly confines.

Why'd Counsell take Leiter out? Christ, he only threw, what...3 pitches?

And Leiter has probably been their best reliever thus far this season. 😐

Neris can't get the ball in the zone. Not looking good.

Yeah, let's hope the bullpen can hold...

And Michael Busch has been a revelation...the Dodgers didn't have room for him...good for us...

I like Nico...his defense if phenomenal, but that is the second time he has gotten picked off this season...he needs to work on that...hopefully that doesn't bite us. I have a feeling the way the bullpen has been overall this season, Cubs will need a couple more runs.

Me too...my best pitch was a curve ball, and righties got a steady diet of those...

I never had a great breaking curve ball. I had decent fastball, and good change up, that had lots of movement/drop that I used quite a bit more than most. I really wanted to be a Nolan Ryan/Roger Clemens type pitcher with the overpowering fastball, but I was much more of a location pitcher.

As a right handed hitter, I always hit righties better than lefties...

If I was facing a lefty that threw a good tailing fastball and he started it in the middle of the plate, I wasn't touching him...

As a right handed hitter, I agree, I preferred right handed pitchers. I remember a couple of lefties that had the big sweeping breaking balls that I had a particular difficult time hitting.

As a right handed pitcher, I much preferred right handed hitters though...

I was thinking about @Lostin76 today and realized I had not seen him on the board in a long time.  He was a regular in this thread.  His profile says he has not been on the board since 4/18/23.  So, this was one of his last posts. That concerns me a bit

And, while we're on the subject of people I have not seen on in a while, @mrflynn has not been on since early March.  Hope everything is alright there.

I was thinking I haven't seen anything from @mrflynn in awhile the other day. I saw Warrant is playing in Wabash, IN next week, so I will post this for him and hope he is doing well...

  8. Cubs Win! They needed that one after giving away the first game in San Diego when they blew an 8-0 lead. If they win today, they will be back to .500 on road trip.

On a side note, I am tired of the west coast start times...I went to bed after 6 innings last night....I am getting old.

Are you giving out 20 points?

    If you’re accepting bets, here’s $500, I’ll take Purdue to cover 20.

Not a gambler, just a hunch based off how good UCONN has looked. I think UCONN's defense will give pu fits. Whether it is 20 point win or not, I am not expecting a close game.

  10. Cubs 5 game winning streak is over. Dodgers beat Cubs 4-1 today. Cubs wasted golden opportunity in the first with bases loaded nobody out and didn't score. Hopefully Cubbies win the rubber game tomorrow.

It was a nice diving play by Busch (kinda weird seeing a Busch play for the Cubs :) )

Nico had an incredible defensive play earlier in the game.

This might be the most patient Cubs hitting team I have seen in awhile. Really refreshing to see that.

I am enjoying that Marquee streaming (I would have went with MLB stream but I'm blacked out). I work from home on Monday, Thursday and Fridays, so I can have the game on in the background! 😀
