  1. I simply posted that he was not personally a good shooter, and that his last team was not particularly good at shooting. Certainly lots of variables, but the evidence available does not lend itself to the conclusion he is a shot doctor. Do you have evidence that suggests otherwise? I'd love to see it. Nothing I'd like to see more than to have Rob start shooting the 3 at a 40% clip. is there evidence that this guy can get him there?
  2. Look, maybe the guy is terrific at relating to kids, fine, sell that. Don't sell that he is a shot doctor when no one has provided any evidence as to such, and the evidence available suggests otherwise.
  3. Yeah you're right, people said the same about the Sampson hire, and that worked pretty well.........
  4. Honest question, for you or anyone else chiming in. Do you think with all the evidence we have, he is the best available candidate, the best fit for this position? I would support your hire over his provided you haven't had any run ins with the FBI.
  5. In his last year at Alabama, our esteemed shooting Yoda had his team shooting a a 46% clip from the floor, 32% from 3 and 67% from the stripe. Look, I don't care who CMW hires to be the 3rd assistant. I will not lose a minute of sleep over it. I just don't understand A) Why we take a risk when it isn't necessary to do so. and B) Why people are selling a bill of goods about the guy that has zero evidence to back it up.
  6. So, you're saying there's a chance.....
  7. So you don't have to be able to do calculus to teach calculus? That would certainly explain some of my high school teachers.
  8. So you are OK with a 51% free throw shooter teaching shooting form? Call me next year, I'll do your taxes.
  9. I personally don't feel like IU is in a position of charlty at the moment. As someone posted earlier, he hasn't worked since being let go by Alabama, why? Why has no one else stepped up and offered the second chance? I just don't see the need for the risk here. I wouldn't do it, but as I said, I'll trust CMW.
  10. In 58 college games Yasir shot 36.8 from the field, 37% from 3 and 51.4% from the stripe. Can someone explain to me how that makes him a shooting mechanics expert? Seems like some folks are really working the mental gymnastics to try and make this hire more palletable.
  11. I agree with almost everything you wrote, but I think with our recent history it is a stretch to set aside the baggage. If we set aside the baggage, we could've hired Sampson again, or Alford for that matter. I get Coach Ya was cleared, because he didn't take money. It wasn't that he didn't take money because his moral compass said it was the wrong thing to do, he didn't take money because he didn't have anything Dawkins was willing to pay for. Big difference there. At IU he will likely have players others are willing to pay for. I will trust CMW's decision, but this is someone that should be on a very short leash.
  12. I remember people being confident that Sampson wouldn't make the same mistakes, in part because it was IU and he wouldn't have to. If this guy is the hire, I will be disappointed because there are others available without the baggage. That said, I think Woody and Fife will protect the program at all costs.
  13. For that to be true, AF would have to look his IU teammates in the eye and say "I just don't want to work that hard to stay with you guys" Seems a cowards way out. Something just seems very off. My best guess is he was an Archie guy through and through, and was hurt by the termination.
  14. I;m guessing we get UVA in the ACC challenge within the next 2 years.
  15. Soooo, was this what Fife was talking about on Dakich when he said they wouldn't be begging anyone to stay?
  16. He wants to continue playing games in the 60's and he REALLY liked the packline defense.
  17. There was a time immediately after the announcement Archie was let go.....
  18. Yeah. Blue agreed with you for the most part, and I agreed with Blue. No one was going against what you said.
  19. I agree with Blue. I don't want to see it excessively, but I remember Sheehey flexing in front of the purdue bench and most people loved it. We do need a little of that.
  20. I was told in previous assistant coaching threads that we HAD to hire a minority coach for recruiting purposes. So, shouldn't having a minority head coach be a plus in recruiting?
  21. I'm surprised no one has connected the dots yet. Mike Woodson is 63. I doubt anyone including Mike thinks he is the long term solution. In effect he is a placeholder, and as an IU guy he will gladly step aside when the best candidate is available. We also brought in Matta to help with the college transition for Mike, as well as to help recruit the best candidate (who he has ties to) when the time arrives. Now, Stevens has been in Boston for 8 years, when the average NBA coaching tenure is what, 4 years? The Boston natives are getting restless. How much longer will he be there? We are now positioned well if this happens in the next couple of years. That's my story and I'm sticking with it.
