It’s not really surprising. I watched Pearl’s pre and post game presser when we played the earlier this season, and I came away thinking he was campaigning for the IU job then.

While I agree with most of what you posted, the part in bold gives me pause. While you may not give Woodson credit for developing TJD, Trace himself is on record giving him a ton of credit. I have to think Trace has more insight and that simply can’t be dismissed.

I thought one of the knocks on Woodson was that he didn’t recruit Trent personally. Is that in accurate or has he changed course?

Look, if the IU Old Guard wanted Woody because they wanted an IU guy to bring back Bob Knight basketball, they cannot be happy. This has to be the farthest thing from what they wanted.

Holy crap, I think I have figured it out. Woody doesn’t understand the college game, so he watches what other college coaches do and patterns his team similarly. So, every game he has seen the past few years, the opposing college coach has had his defense sag off of shooters, and it usually works. So, Woody has implemented that same “sag off the shooters” defense, it just hasn’t worked as well.
