  1. I'm trying to make sense of everything here. What was he 14 of 15 of his sophomore year? I see he was in double figures 23 of 31 games. Above 20 6 times.
  2. I was super confused how you were saying you could make a 35% high school shooter a D1 43% shooter till I realized you were in a round about way saying it's much easier to make a 35% shooter great than a 10% shooter. I was like dang. This guy's a shot Doctor.
  3. Love the shooter aspect. What does this do for our depth and now log jam at the non primary/facilitating wing position? Leal 6'5” 210. Not quite a true shooting guard, that's the end game goal. Currently not a great defender. A shooter about to pop. Galloway 6'4" 210. Not a shooting guard if you can't shoot, that is the end game goal. Currently a good not great defender- Hunter 6'7" 215. The goal is a 3/4 that can shoot and still guard maybe up to 3 positions. Becoming a serviceable, versitile defender when his head is focused. Geronimo 6'6" 220. Physical specimen. Tons of room for growth. Not currently great at anything, end goal is the ceiling is the roof. Race Thompson 6'8" 220. A true traditional 4. In a 4 out offense, he's currently a small 5. Gotta improve the shot and bring the A game every night. Trust him to guard any 4 or 5 in the conference. Kopp 6'7" 215. Can shoot. Not sure his defensive capabilities. Someone provide assessment here. Offensively a perfect stretch 4. Not sure about his abilities to put it on the floor but against most teams 4 in a well spaced offense, iirc he can go by guys. Trayce. Will likely never play the "4" wing in college. I'm a little surprised IU didn't add more bigs so he could play a little more away from the basket at times but what do I know. I pray Trayce and even Duncomb stay healthy or we are screwed at true post depth. We do not want to go extended parts of the season with Race at the 5. That would be like a slightly better defensive situation than running Juwan Morgan at the 5.
  4. Yep. That's the one that ncaa.org links. There are no dates on that page once you click on the individual. 247sports player pages have a timeline, though no always accurate and up to date, usually gets updated and close.
  5. @go_iu_bb started a conversation that probably fits here more so to keep that from derailing here it is. I was wondering if there is a site that shows when a kid entered the portal. The closest thing I have found is 247Sports Transfer Portal twitter feed. https://mobile.twitter.com/247sportsportal Selection Sunday was march 15th. It took me 5 minutes of scrolling down to make it to Feb 28th. Good players such as Matt Cross were in the portal a while and he committed to Louisville Feb 25. Travis Branham tweeted on that same date that more than 200 players were already in the portal, including our new point guard. Back to the point of quality transfers available year round. I scrolled to the beginning of 247 Sports transfer portal thread. They started that twitter Feb 2nd. I couldn't find a transfer portal list that included when a player entered the portal without clicking on the individual's 247 sports profile and looking at their personal timeline. Anyways. It appears Woodson believes in a full roster and using all scholarships.
  6. Interesting short read with rabbit trails if you would like. http://www.ncaa.org/about/resources/research/tracking-transfer-division-i-men-s-basketball "about 40% of all men’s basketball players who enter Division I directly out of high school depart their initial school by the end of their sophomore year."
  7. Nonexistent is a pretty strong word when guys are pretty much entering the Portal on a near daily basis. Covid may have caused an extraordinary amount of transfers and with the new rules kids knowing they weren't going to have to sit out the full year may have caused more. Obviously the vast vast majority of transfers will occur after the season but we are always going to see mid-season transfers and that was true before these rules were implemented. Water will find its level. I wonder if there is a website that shows what date a kid entered the portal?
  8. I guess I'll take your word for it and call it astounding mid range depth. With the new transfer rules, it would be crazy for IU or other major programs to take fliers on a few guys unless you were just supremely confident in your scouting ability. So it greatly behooves the B1G schools to let the small schools groom them and allow them to grow and develop into men and then recruit them down the road with a year or more of college experience behind them. I've said before. This transfer portal is going to be all day, everyday, 365. It's intriguing. Someone said there should be a dead period. I guess you can say a kid can only join a team in August or December/January but that's not going to stop a kid from saying deuces to a bad situation(in their eyes and mind).
  9. Hopefully one or two will blossom and transfer their way back to the premier basketball school of their home state and country.
  10. Well 6 in the top 170 when you remove the la lu kid. It has great backend depth. 2012 was top end super loaded. 247 doesn't show past the top 9 for some reason. 4 home growns in the top 42, 7 in the top 97. https://247sports.com/Season/2012-Basketball/RecruitRankings/?InstitutionGroup=highschool&State=IN
  11. I called it good to great mid range depth.
  12. When you have the time, click through those rankings, remove the lalu kids and you are looking at 2 in the top 100 almost every year and 2-4 in the 100-200 almost every year. This class has 4 in the 100-200. Not sure how that so massively separates them from other classes besides the handful of quality depth beyond 200.
  13. Ok. I wasn't. Let's hope and pray he plays to his ranking this year. I say a year training with college kids is a heck of a lot better than practicing against your jv team.
  14. I guess you didn't read what I said and clarified twice.
  15. You have the ability to change that to look at any year. I went back over 6 years and quit there and copied and pasted because the proof just kept stacking up. No there are only 2 players in the top 10p in this class. Kaufman and Furst. I also said, take out the la lu kids and you still have 2 top 100 and around 5 top 200 in almost every class. It's not debatable, it's a fact. I say almost because 1 year there was only 1 top 100 kid in the last 6. If you want to go back another 6 year I would assume we will see the same trend. Again. This is in no way a comparison of the 2015 class. I just linked state of indiana 247 rankings. Each of us can go through and look at each years ranking on their own and see, 2021, good not great top end talent. 2021, good to great mid range depth. The fear of Indiana fans is one or more of these kids likely go on to have one hell of a college career not at IU. We can create a list every year of kids that out play their ranking from this state.
  16. I've stated it was time to pump the breaks on the over ranking of this recruit class. How many top 25, 5 star guys? How many in the top 100? 2. 7 in the top 200. Hate to break it but this is an average year in the state of Indiana. Taking out the la lu guys, there is still almost always at least two top 100 guys with about an average of 5/6 top 200 guys. There is some depth to this year's class in that 3 star range but there usually is. Just a few more getting a national ranking this year but still is a fairly normal state of Indiana class. Just hyped up more than normal and some familiarity of names with multiple title runs. Don't shoot the messenger. https://247sports.com/Season/2015-Basketball/RecruitRankings/?InstitutionGroup=highschool&State=IN Have your own look through the years.
  17. Heard a coach say that by time a player hits the portal it's too late to even get involved.
  18. I'll be curious to read his bio. Law school will tell us all we need to know.
  19. Saw where the browns have cut two defensive line starters. Guessing Ballard's going to be sniffing around players like this that continue to get cut for teams to get under the salary cap
  20. Love that Coach Woodson is getting on the airwaves often.
  21. I do wish teams and players would be more clear about these sorts of things. We have heard this rumor for about a year. I guess we will find out if he goes to Depaul, etc and his major is Law school.
  22. Are the rumors true or not that Joey wanted to start law school and IU said no to playing and law school at the same time? If that's the case, then it's a simple business decision for Brunk. Stay debt free and walk with a law degree. Pretty impressive and a great way to start his adulthood journey.
