I know this isn't transfer portal but how much of a hinderance was X and Trey coming back to landing some guard talent last season? Had to have been. Looking at point. Healthy X plays 30. Galloway played point half the season last year. Grabbed Mbako, had Gunn and Banks back and theoretically competing for some wing minutes. Trey was likely going to get 25+. Mbako 25+ So we were asking Dalton Knetch to come and grab the available 15-25 minutes? What are we going to do next year? Love Trey but if he loves the university and loves winning more, his minutes will have to take a hit. Maybe this year is a blessing in disguise for guard recruiting. Staff can say look, lots of minutes available if you are able to come in here and produce. Not to mention. Maybe players have seen the way X plays, the talking, the baiting, and says, na. Given 362 options, I'll go elsewhere. We gotta land some fish this offseason. Staff has said publicly they learned a lot and are better prepared for the portal. Whatever that means.

Tmim guessing the biggest problem would be Mbako and Reneau getting abused defensively. Last night, insert Walker, that d was nasty down the stretch. Then Ware came back in and made a huge defensive play out on the perimeter knocking down a pass. The d was going. Now gotta rebound with the same intensity.

Had to go X. However a switch is being flipped before our very eyes with Malik. If he would lock in defensively and rebound, he could be an all American next year. In that last 10 minutes he brought the ball down the court, hit a three, dunked a lob that was really difficult and made it look easy and of course balled out in the post like 3 times. Still takes defensive plays off and just fails to even attempt to rebound if the ball isn't right around him. With his attributes I'd be studying Barkley and Rodman on what and how they went after rebounds.
