  1. All you guys make good points. No doubt the recruits we've got committed are talented. But talent doesn't equate to winning.

I've been listening to Rabjohns on a podcast and he's saying IU's still going after yet another, big man. that would give us 3 bigs. All talented, all productive, but if don't have anybody that can stretch the floor, defenses will just clog the lane.

It's nice to see all you guys saying I'm wrong. Honestly hope you're right. But jury is still out for me on how productive and wins we get next year.

  2. Is this guy as good as Ware? (probably not)

So we're now gonna see 2 bigs playing together again, "inside (and hopefully) out". I'll believe it when I see a 4 out 1 in game with 3 shooters on the perimeter. (from IU that is)

So far I'm under whelmed with the committed recruits. Not a huge step forward IMO. If MM gets hurt we got NO shooters on the perimeter.

Cupps: No.     Gallo: No.      Newton: Unknown.     Rice: Not any better than Gallo.

You guys can celebrate all you want. Good for you. But I'm with-holding my excitement until I see the product on the floor.

    All,

We merged this original megathread and the Fire Mike Woodson thread. Many threads have been hijacked over the last several months with Woodson debate, please try to keep all of it inside this megathread from now on.

    - Mods

Can you do the same thing with a “all things Purdue thread?” Seems like more threads get hijacked by the 2-3 PU posters and replies than those posting about Woodson. Gotten to a point where you can,t read anything on here anymore without suffering thru a bunch of drivill on PU.

I maaaaaay get laughed at for this, but I am posting anyway to see how crazy I am…. Maybe desperate.

next coaching cycle I would put bill Murray’s son, Luke, at the top of my list to at least talk to/ do due diligence on. I was watching something last night, and Luke is the maniac behind UConn’s offense. All he does is watch basketball. FIBA, Europe, China, whatever. Anything. Everything. Took what he saw and developed their offense out of it.

or at least make him the highest paid assistant coach x2

You're assuming Woodson would listen to him (or anybody for that matter).

You have to run the weave with a purpose and players who can take advantage when the time comes.  When you watch UConn or anyone other talented team run that, they have have guards who are looking for a reason to drive and dish or taken an open 3.  We just run trot through the motion with no purpose of why we're doing it.

1 adjustment needed from my point of view.

  6. As an IU fan, I'm glad PU lost. Wouldn't be a rivalry otherwise.

But as a fan of good basketball, UConn exposed every weakness available in PU's team. (except Edey's elbows) Great game plan by Hurley, great execution by the team. Clingan made Edey actually earn his post up points, without help. The only time UConn double teamed Edey was when Clingan was on the bench.

And the defense in the backcourt for UConn was amazing. The on ball pressure and passing lane defense was really a great thing to witness.

PU got beat by a far superior team. Also a little surprised Painter didn't adjust his offense much in the 2nd half.

    Congrats to UConn.

I just want to see what people start doing if they removed the "Do not take internally" warning off the tubes of Preparation H.  :coffee:

There is a fish & tackle mfr that had to recall all of its fishing hooks nationwide a couple of years ago, because some idiot kid swallowed a hook. Had to repackage and put a "do not swallow" warning on the pkg. Obsurd.

It's a shame this even has to be posted.

Take all the warning labels away, and let nature run its course. In 2 generations the country would be a lot smarter.

I put Boiler's definition to the test.

7:24: Edey enters the lane with both feet, but almost immediately puts one foot back out.

7:23: Edey lifts the foot in the lane ever so slightly.  I'm not sure a ref could have caught it, but we'll give him the benefit of the doubt.  3 second clock reset.

7:22: Edey re-enters the lane with both feet.

7:20: Ball is passed to Edey. 3 second clock resets.

7:18: Edey passes the ball back out.

7:17: Edey puts one foot outside the lane and lifts foot in lane.  3 second clock reset.

7:16: Edey exits the lane (ever so slightly...had a part of one foot parallel and on the line, but again, I'll give benefit of the doubt). Also, shot attempt. 3 Second clock reset.

7:15 Edey re-enters the lane, both feet.

7:12 Edey puts one foot halfway outside the lane and lifts the foot in the lane. We're really skirting the line here. Potential 3 second violation.

    7:10: Video ends.

It's really borderline if you break it down second by second.  It seems like he's very aware of what the rule is and is making an attempt to push it to its limit, but is also getting several benefit of the doubt calls like at 7:12.

Great analysis, but what is missing is that refs don't count as fast as seconds on the clock. They count as fast as "1 (2 seconds go by), now "2" (2-3 more seconds go by, "3" (which is now a total of 7-8 seconds in real time).

So you have to take a nap in the lane to get called for 3 seconds anymore

  10. I for one, do NOT want the news to be bad. But when it is....and there is way too much of it for my liking....it just confirms what many on here have complained about for the past several years.

Roster construction stinks, style of play is boring (or bad. take your pick). Nobody can shoot (except maybe MM), fundamentals are horrible, blah, blah, blah.

And don't think our "style" of play isn't hurting us on the recruiting trail, or the portal.

If the trend continues or we continue to not sign anyone, I would say its something about the program then.  Play style, coach, program, fans, etc..

Take your pick I guess, but look at it this way...at least we won't have a hockey line change anymore (lol)

Everyone complaining about Edey would sacrifice their left testicle if he were to announce he's grad transferring to IU to play ball next year.

    Wanna bet? (lol)

(And my testicles don't even work anymore...)
