  1. What bothers me is the lack of adjustments. UM ran the same high pick where the ball handler would get downhill, IU chasing, forcing IU to rotate and then it was just passing around the perimeter to whatever open three pointer they wanted. Give them credit for staying with it and hitting wide open shots. At no point did IU adjust. Why not double the ball handler hard? Why not try anything different? Never changed.
  2. Why not trap the pick and roll instead of letting the ball handle get downhill to force your rotation? Why not try anything different?
  3. Durr about as stiff as any player I've seen. His legs don't bend. Hands of stone. He's strictly a spot. Up shooter. Hands are poor too.
  4. No answer to the high pick and roll. None all game. No adjustments. None. Michigan just runs around the pick at the top as IU chases and has to rotate and then they pass around until they get a wide open three. Basically shooting in an open gym. No iU defender within six feet most of the time. On top of that IU has lost its composure in offense. This is one they will see from here on out.
  5. Yes, I watched most of the uk at auburn game. Another loss to a ranked team for cal. 1 and 3 this season so far. A few observations.... In this one uk looked soft. Every time you turned around a uk player was on the ground acting like he was shot. Maybe that's the whole SEC (Soft Eastern Conference). Glad the K Brooks Jr experiment played out in Lexington. Trainwreck. Has any coach lost more games while having more talent than cal? I can't imagine.
  6. Agree. IU couldn't draw it up any better for a recruit visit. If he goes anywhere else it won't be because IU didnt do enough. Would be a great addition. Were there any other recruits in attendance?
  7. If IU can maintain the defensive intensity and cut down on the fouls, especially some of the silly ones we see from X and Parker, it will be hard to beat them at home. You anticipate some fouls because they are challenging everything but it really shows up when X, Parker, or as we saw last night with TJD, get into foul trouble and spend significant amounts of time on the bench.
  8. One more observation for the purdue lurkers. Ivey pushed off on Galloway for his last shot. No call.
  9. That's what I could not understand with Archie. He seemed to refuse to use all of his scholarships. It was a self-imposed loss of scholarships every season and he never had depth as an option. So one significant injury - team done.
  10. I hope the players get to enjoy the win but it's a quick turnaround with Michigan on Sunday, then payback for PSU on Wednesday, and a trip to Maryland three days later (Saturday). The schedule is doing them no favors right now. The concern is they may be emotionally and physically drained. The fans really need to blow up for the next two and help carry this team by providing some energy. Fortunately they are young and the bench provided some good minutes last night.
  11. Admittedly did not see this happening tonight. Rob and X take a lot of heat but they balled out. Very happy for Rob. He needed this win more than anyone and his play made it possible. Great job CMW and staff. No time.e to relax. Keep building the momentum. I understand storming the court but it's time to move on. Winning is the expectation again. FYI- purdue hasn't beaten IU since 2021
  12. Embrace the new world of college basketball. Here today and gone tomorrow. Adding an improved PG like Little is necessary to improve the team. If not LIttle then at some point they will add someone else. I do think JHS may be a top future PG option and Lander is absolutely in the mix. Speaking of Lander, what some are not considering is he plays against X and Rob every day. If he were playing better than them he would be getting their minutes. I still believe he has a high ceiling and IU would be crazy to let him get out of Bloomington. I also think Lander and his family are very smart. They know his biggest hurdle is maturing physically. That doesn't change if he goes to any other Power 5 conference. If he wants to drop down to a mid-major he may get more time now but his biggest issue will be the same.
  13. If you could count on TJD and Race knocking down 15 - 18 foot jumpers it would be a different game but as it is they will be trying to score inside over size and that's a problem. I wouldn't be shocked if Purdue just sits back letting X shoot like Minny did and use the free defender to clog the lane. I have to admit, this is the first game I can't see a legitimate path to victory but I'm hoping CMW and the team on their home court can work some magic. FYI - I did read that Duncomb should be able to play. That doesn't mean he will but he should be eligible, if needed.
  14. A few things that need to be called out about the refs and last nights game... * Nebraska got called for one T for a forearm to Trey's face * They did not get a T for doing a pull up on the rim after a dunk * They did not get a T for their player standing over X who was laying flat on the floor AFTER the whistle was blown and then trying to take the ball from him * They did not get a T for locking/holding X's foot after he drove to the basket and was fouled, yet they complained when X threw a kick in their direction CMW is a cool customer but he may need to go full RMK on the refs at some point to make sure his team is not getting jobbed in conference.
  15. This is a tough match up for IU and for the same reasons it has been a tough match up over the past several years. IU cannot match the size and they don't shoot it as well. While purdue can run three or four guys at TJD (or 15 - 20 fouls) IU will have to defend them with TJD and and a 6'8 Race Thompson. That's basically it. Durr has shown nothing that would suggest he's capable of playing more than five minutes without fouling out or turning the ball over multiple times. Duncomb is a non-factor. That leaves Geronimo at 6'6. You're asking a lot of this group to compete against 7'4 295, 6'10 255, 6'10 230 and some others who are not bad even at 6'7 and 6'6. If you look at shooting/scoring the edge is with purdue. They shoot 50% overall and 40% from three. IU is at 48% overall and 34% from three. IU has one guy shooting the three over 40% and they have five. IU can stand pat and hope their D and home court is enough. The other option is to go small and run them out to erase their size but that requires avoiding stupid fouls and turnovers, and shooting it well while forcing them adjust to play at a faster pace and a smaller lineup. Nothing so far suggests IU's guards are able to make that happen. Big picture - something has to change with recruiting. IU can continue the stretch of never having more than two legit 'bigs' who are ready to play at any give time meaning those two must be high level players and they have to be surrounded by high level perimeter players. OR they can add some legit size (3 or more who are not projects) that can impact the game.
  16. TJD balled. Let's hope he is just bruised and recovers quickly. Geronimo keeps getting better. If he could defend without fouling it would elevate the team. Tamar did more positive than negative. That's a first in a long time. Guards = rollercoaster. The fouls continue to pile up. The turnovers still an issue. But they did make some plays late to win it and they do try to defend hard if not always smart. Sadly, no lead will be secure with this group and that may cost them a tournament.
  17. So you can do a pullup on a dunk if you are Nebraska. Nice to know.
  18. Not sure how IU gets a clean look without TJD. Almost guaranteed to be something forced.
  19. I'd like to think that too, but it's not reality. Based on how the fans have reacted over the past few seasons and early this season it's clear the coach, regardless of who it is, no longer gets the benefit of the doubt. Lose at Nebraska to go 0-4 on the road and you'll see fans saying what they've been saying - nothing has changed.
