  1. This is a perfect example of why IU fans are always waiting for the other shoe to drop. It never seems to end. Not one or two suspended. Five! And on a night they play a very winnable road game they absolutely need to win. How does a team that has done nothing/achieved nothing have this much stupidity? I'd like CMW to invite whoever wants to leave to go now. It's probably against school and NCAA rules to run them till they fall but that's what I'd like to see.
  2. A winnable road game tossed out the window when they need it badly and perhaps the tournament with it. Your starting PG? Upper classman and a leader of the team? Stupid. And why would anyone playing as little as Durr, Lander or Bates even think of doing something that could get them suspended? Isn't this Parker's second incident? We wonder about guys leaving after every season. CMW may not give some of them the option.
  3. Other teams gearing up for the stretch run. IU trying to find guys they can count on. Sad.
  4. IU survived the first half and had a chance. It fell apart second half because they had no perimeter offense and tried to power thru Kofi. Then the defense collapsed. Continued inability to get Parker or Kopp open looks makes them virtually useless. Bates still does not understand a good shot from a bad shot. Seems obvious but if Kofi won't leave the paint to come out and guard TJD why not use TJD to set a pick for Kopp or Parker? Instead he would set a screen for X and both would dive toward Kofi. IU played LSU and Shaq in the tourney under RMK. They forced him to come out and guard someone. IU didn't have anyone who could fight him inside but they had shooters. Today's Hoosiers dont have shooters you can count on and I'm not sure they have coaches who understand how to get shooters open looks because they haven't shown it so far.
  5. So much for being ranked. What it means is IU has to win at home against Wis nd find a legit win in the road. Knight would have forced Kofi to come home out and guard someone because IU had shooters everywhere. Think back to beating Shaq/LSU in tourney.
  6. 7'0 290. IU does not have anyone to match up with that. If you try to play their power game against it you lose. Since TJD never learned that jumpshot he talked about during the offseasons and Race has lost his today, not many choices on offense. Parker and Kopp with another MIA. Can't trust Bates to get a good high % shot. No Rob. Lander against a vet like Frazier is a loss. Maybe a miracle happens here at the end but UI has more firepower.
  7. One team getting wide open looks and one forcing up challenged runners. Pretty simple.
  8. Like to see anyone cutting to the basket to give TJD an option. Or put him o. The right side so he can go left then clear out. He's not having luck backing Kofi down. The could post Race instead and have TJD ho to the glass. Still think they can use TJD to set picks for Parker and Kopp if Kofi is not going to leave the paint on D. Where's Trey?
  9. This game is a perfect example of why you need four legit bigs who are ready to play. Odds are someone will be in foul trouble along the way. When you don't have four ready you end up with 6'8 or 6'6 trying to guard a monster inside.
  10. Survived the first half without TJD. They have a shot to take this one but fouls are killing them. If Kofi can hook the defender there's no chance to stop him inside. TJD has to front and make them lob over him into a double team. Durr did his best. I'm surprised he didn't foul out already so credit to him. The UI guards are kicking their legs out to get the fouls. CMW has to get on the refs more.
  11. Watching Georgetown and wondering how long they allow Pat Ewing to continue as coach. Another example of the risk involved hiring a former player/legend from your school. He'd do them a favor stepping aside before they fire him.
  12. I'd prefer not giving them anything to prepare for going into the game. It would be too funny if TJD started talking about unveiling his three point shot, playing with a four guard lineup, and going full court press the entire game.
  13. The table is set for IU. Knock off the B1G leader at high noon on Saturday (at home) and you are back on the radar nationally and likely ranked in the Top 25. Wis did what a lot of teams do - whoever Kofi was guarding stayed on the perimeter for the most part. He still ended up with 37 points 12 rebounds. Overall the rebounding was close but the difference was Wis couldn't buy a three pointer and kept throwing them up and they didn't get their usual free throw advantage. Hopefully IU can force the switch on D and keep Kofi away from the basket. If he guards TJD I can see a lot of drives from TJD who has better foot speed but that means he needs to finish or find the open shooters because everyone will be collapsing on him. If Kofi guards Race he may have to stay out there to respect the three. The other side of the coin is simple, if Kofi is able to just sit in the paint on D it's going to be a long day. IU will need a big team rebounding game.
  14. Durr is limited obviously. If they can get 5 minutes from him it would be more than expected. It would not surprise me if he fouled out in this five minutes guarding Kofi.
  15. X playing great ball under control is huge. He seems to have slowed down, attacking only when it's there and gets others shots when he cant attack. Nice compliment to TJD and Race. Glad for Lander and really everyone contributed. Nice road win.
  16. CMW realized quickly you get jobbed on the road and you better not let it go unchallenged. I suggested a few games back he may have to go off and take a T just to make it clear he won't stand back and accept it.
  17. IU refuses to make it easy on themselves. Ten point lead and 3 on 1 break, Kopp lopes into a turnover. For a three the other way. Offense changes to one pass and a shot. They've got the lead. Terps not really challenging their offense. Just work it around for a good shot. Terps ready to roll over if IU will let them.
  18. Lots of short threes today. Could be a sign of fatigue. Lots of missed shots within five feet, which has been a constant. It seems like CMW is just trying to steal some time for X and TJD so they do not collapse in the second half. At this rate, Lander will foul out in three more playing minutes.
  19. Three games in a row where they do not anticipate the press and turn it over. They freeze, pick up the dribble, make a tough pass and it's a turnover. Asking a lot of Lander on D. Hasn't played much. Looks 40 lbs underweight for the guys he's guarding. Just no place to hide him defensively.
  20. I read one site that said athletes can potentially recover in 3-5 weeks if they start treatment immediately. They tend to have a faster recovery. Regular people (weekend warriors) may take several months to recover without surgery. I wouldn't expect Rob to be able to be his usual self on the court any time soon due to the nature of the game. The fact Lander has the same issue seems beyond coincidence and very unfortunate for IU. It's time for others to grow up and pick up the slack.
  21. It's crunch time. There are ten games remaining with six road games and four at home including Illinois and Wisconsin. Five of the games are against currently ranked teams. Currently #36 Net and #58 RPI. The "easiest" games would likely be @ Maryland, @ Northwestern, Maryland and Rutgers. That said, there are seemingly no easy B1G games on the road for IU. Saturday's game at Maryland could be considered a must win. In fact, lose any one of those four games and getting to 20 wins becomes very challenging. As of today, CBS has IU (11) in the tournament playing Xavier (6) in the East with Kansas (1), Duke (3), Kentucky (4), along with Wis (2), UConn, Miami, Alabama, etc. That would be a tough region. How many wins does IU need to get in? I think it depends on who they beat but with the right combination of wins they could make it with 18/19 wins and not getting punked by a lesser team in the B1G tournament. What games will they win? I think they have to get at least 4 out of @ Maryland, @Northwestern, Maryland, @Minny, Rutgers games and then at least one of the two homes games (Illinois and/or Wisconsin). It would be asking a lot to beat either of MSU, OSU or Purdue on the road especially if Rob and Lander are not playing. On the plus side - when you have a shot at that many ranked teams you can significantly improve your resume.
  22. CMW trying to break the one half up and one half down routine. Not accepting poor play. Can't.
  23. Haven't had a good midrange shooter since Yogi. Haven't had a great one since Calbert and he used it to become the B1Gs all-time leading scorer.
  24. Good start. X with his mandatory turnover within the first two possessions. I assume vmv it is a mandatory requirement. Good on the glass and knocking down threes.
  25. Payne should be the top choice. Can't imagine he would turn it down unless he is just done with college basketball. They won't offer anyone who's had infractions or scandals (Pearl, Sampson) because it will take years to repair the program's reputation as it is. No top tier power 5 coach would want to jump into this situation until the dust has settled and all penalties or other concerns are addressed. If one does, you need to look at the situation they are leaving because something is not right. Or they are just chasing the money, which is telling in and of itself. IU should be reaching out to Kaleb Glenn and Kamari Lands immediately if they open things back up. Another example of a coach having success at a lower level and not being able to carry it over at a top level program. Archie and Mack were two of the biggest coaching prospects just 5 years ago and look where they are now.
