  1. Agreed. Wis getting out-Wissed (?) as it were. They actually have more fouls than the other team, so they aren't getting that FT advantage. Better still. Davison is getting his own treatment. Plenty of time left though.
  2. Congrats to CMW, his staff, and the players. Year one can only be considered a success. Tough loss tonight but the drought is over and there's a lot to be hopeful about going forward. The offseason will be huge for this program.
  3. Looks like uk is fighting for their life against what appears to be a 38 year old father of four on a work release. Them losing would make the sting of tonight's game a little less painful.
  4. My hope is CMW and staff have learned what it takes to win at this level today. Not discounting the turnaround this season. Kudos for getting there. They clearly need talent but that talent must include legit size and scorers who can get their own shots. Even if TJD and Race both return IU needs at least one more legit big who can play. Durr is not the answer. Unlikely LD is the answer next season. IU needs grown men to compete at the upper echelons. And you need scorers and shooters. Other than X none of them can win off the dribble and get a good shot. The others just flail and toss up crap. Here's hoping the offseason adds the missing pieces. P.S., the NCAA did them no favors. Complete joke. Going forward they need to use their own plane.
  5. Some of the passes have been ridiculous. Gotta be better. But X losing his cool completely. IU cheerleader with the best play of the game. That's a first.
  6. IU was controlling the game then TJD went to the bench and they took over. Even when he came back in they haven't been the same. I understand getting him a rest but he gets long rests even when the game starts to get away from them. It's a tough choice but there's no tomorrow. He has to play as much as possible. Race has to show up and get on the glass. X has to get to the rim. But there has to be someone else to show up. Rob? JG? I've all but given up on Miller and Parker. Just not giving them much of anything offensively.
  7. IU losing their cool. Taking poor shots and getting scrambled on D. Rushing everything again. Not going to work on this team. Two or three missed lobs to TJD, ugly running jumpers by Kopp and Parker. Terrible. And no more rebounds for IU. Someone needs to settle them down because they are not able to set up their own D after bad shots. X not getting downhill because they trap him on the pick. Someone should be open on the wings but nobody is stepping up.
  8. Breaking news... St Pete's tied with uk at the half. Apparently cal has been fired five times in the first half.
  9. Too many empty possessions. Not good.
  10. IU getting lost on D too often. Gotta get connected
  11. Like that Parker has stayed in front of his man on multiple drives. That's huge because Trayce doesn't have to leave his man to stop the drive and IU can rebound. Good sign.
  12. When it gets to the point where we cannot get into this site I want to be on record as having said, I knew it! That's regardless of the outcome.
  13. I had several B1G teams advancing deep into the tourney and then I went back and tried to remove my B1G bias. It's easier to go with teams you have seen several times and have a feel for but it can come back to bite you. Last season was brutal.
  14. Ugly Ugly Ugly but I'll take it. Survive and advance was never more accurate of a statement. Frankly, I'm not sure IU could have beaten any other team in the tournament last night. They set basketball offense back 70 years. They never seem to get a good squared up shot from outside. Everything looked rushed by Parker, Miller, and anyone else attempting a perimeter shot. I'm done hoping it will magically change. Time to accept the fact this team can't hit water from a boat. Fortunately Wyoming really only has two players on the team that you have to guard and those two shot 30 of their 46 shots last night. They only hit six three pointers and turned it over like crazy. They basically forced IU to win the game. Coming off their best play of the year in the B1G tourney it's disheartening to see them take such a big step back. That said, nothing surprises me with this team. If they come out and play a great game again St Mary's I wouldn't be shocked and if they lost by 30 I wouldn't be shocked. Note: Not sure how the refs could not see the Wyoming flops. They were determined to fall on any IU drive and they were just as determined to flop when shooting threes. Some of them weren't really that close but I guess the refs didn't see it.
  15. This is the game right here. They have a nice lead. History says they turn it over, foul, or take a crap shot only to see the other team tie or take the lead in the next couple minutes and usually on some wild shot. IU needs to go to TJD repeatedly now.
  16. Six point lead with the ball = stupid foul. It's uncanny.
  17. Here's the problem - IU has the better team but they cannot shoot and it's pointless to think that's going to change. Every run IU makes is immediately followed by some turnovers, missed layups, and fouls that pulls the other team back into the game. In order to win, IU has to build a big lead and hold on. They just dont play smart enough or shoot well enough to win late when you have to hit shots. Or at least that's their M.O. Their best hope may be to go inside until Wyoming has nobody left to play. Just foul them out and pray you hit enough FTs.
  18. Keep going inside when have the best two inside players in the game and your team can't hit a jumper to save their lives. Wyoming won't have a big post player left half way thru the second half.
  19. IU should be up by 10+ now. All season long - get a lead and give it right back. That's how they continue to be in tight games late. Offense is horrid. No patience. Rush everything. Missed layups. They may set a record for most missed shots inside two feet. Parker and Miller act like they have no time at all to get off a shot. They are not bothering to square up. Go inside every time and they will foul out. Wyoming.
  20. Does beating Wyoming make the season a success regardless of what happens next? Is just getting to this point already enough to make it a success? They are playing in the tournament. They won 20 games. By all measures they improved and I want to say it is a success. But a loss tonight would really tarnish it, in my opinion.
  21. I want to believe IU gets past Wyoming easily but this season has proven there is no 'easy' for IU. If anything, IU tends to play to the level of their opponent and that's a problem. If they don't come out ready to play it's going to be a fight. There can be no easing into this game - this isn't the NBA regular season where they use the early part of the game to warm up. Wyoming has a legit big inside, they have some athletes surrounding him, and they have multiple guys who can shoot when they are on (43% of team's shots are 3s). But they play three guys big minutes (32+). Their inside guys are 6'9 and 6'8 (sound familiar) but they also have a 6'10 who plays 11 minutes per game. More important, if it stays close and comes down to one team hitting big perimeter shots late, I won't feel overly confident it goes IU's way. The good news is IU should have a huge crowd advantage and they have multiple guys to match up with the big two of Wyoming, which combined to take 48% of their team's total shots this season. What concerns me most is teams like Wyoming know how to dictate pace and they can shorten the game to make every possession count more. It's got a Wisconsin vibe to how they play and that's not fun to think about. My hope is IU comes out ready, takes the ball at them inside and the defense sets the tone early. But it's going to take IU really going to the glass to prevent those second chance threes. If all of that happens the crowd will be into it and they will force Wyoming into playing out of their comfort zone. Go IU!
  22. Could argue playing without waiting four or five days can help. Long breaks are usually not good and IU is playing as well as they have all season right now. Still, dont have five guys suspended and don't lose to a bad team and maybe you are not in this situation.
  23. NCAA HQ is in Indy. I'm for stormng their offices if IU does not get in. Make Ukraine look like a play date.
  24. IU had plenty of chances to extend the eight or nine point lead. Every time they'd turn it over or take a poor shot and let them hang around. The season has proven it's going to come back to bite IU more often than not. Advantage to the team that can hit wide open shots. Still, that's a BS way to win a game.
