  1. your body, your decision. But in addition to an individual being protected from contracting it, we also need to remember that the vaccine is a vehicle to herd immunity because it will essentially eliminate, in mass, the amount of hosts the virus can find. If too many Americans refuse vaccination then the virus will be sticking around longer.
  2. I'm not making an decisions yet. Was talking to a few 'in the know' and the reality is that they don't know because no data is available to them yet. They told me to wait, see what vaccines make it out of the third phase, and then get approved by the FDA. Once this happens we'll know how effective they are, what the side effects are and how dangerous they are.
  3. I can't access the article so I'm not sure how this paragraph was used in context; thus not directing anything at you Reacher or necessarily the article. But I'm finding it strange when people try to pad the blow of increasing cases with the response: "well, we are testing more". No s*** Sherlock! This is the most obvious thing that some (saw multiple people on the news pushing this narrative the last few days) try to make trivial. Naturally when cases rise, more people feel symptoms and then more people get tested. So, of course there will be more testing. And even if there were less tests, it doesn't mean that the virus disappears....it just means that cases are spiking and we don't know about it, which doesn't sound like a good thing because it makes it harder to identify clusters and take necessary precautions. Ignorance is not bliss, especially when you are dealing with a highly infectious virus.
  4. Whether you believe China or not East Asia overall is doing a good job. IMO, their biggest advantage has been experience with SARS and MERS and their ability to contact trace. https://www.wsj.com/articles/covid-19s-global-divide-as-west-reels-asia-keeps-virus-at-bay-11603186202 *tip: if you reached your cap on NYT or WSJ articles just open them in an ‘incognito tab.’
  5. Haha. *Mental* exhaustion. Been doing all of the above. Physically I’m in the best shape since my 20s. Me and @mrflynn03were actually PMing the other day about nutrition and this Netflix documentary called “The Game Changers”....it has an interesting take on plant based diets from a performance standpoint.
  6. You’re not alone with those feelings. COIVD exhaustion is real.
  7. My wife heard from her co-worker whose wife is a nurse at a hospital in South Bend. The hospital is getting very full with COVID patients and the may have to cancel elective surgeries to make room. Hoping that we don’t get to that point, but I’m not liking how all these numbers are trending in the Midwest.
  8. The CDC did this too. On one hand, you saw how people freaked out about toilet paper who would inevitably create a severe shortage of masks when health professionals needed them more (at the time). On the other hand this "white lie" or "white-misleading" created confusion and a lack of trust, which still haunts us today. In retrospect, I think that was a bad decision.
  9. He’s going to get burned one of these weeks.
  10. Again, Bears are throwing incomplete passes when they need to kill time.
  11. In the later seasons the first few episodes are a bit slow because they have to set-up the story line, but once you’re established they really suck you in.
  12. I finally started Schitt’s Creek. The characters on that show are absolutely hilarious. Also, I got a free year of Apple Plus and Ted Lasso is really a great show. Funny and uplifting in a corny but good way. Highly recommend, especially for a board full of sports fans.
  13. I loved Homeland. All season are great but the first 2 season are especially intense.
  14. Protecting the vulnerable is not unethical at all, but it shouldn't be in lieu of allowing the virus to spread unchecked amongst the young and healthy, because it will inevitably get to the vulnerable anyway. Not to mention overtax the healthcare system in the process. To me (how I read the declaration), "focused prevention" seems like a dressed up phrase for a milder form of herd immunity. I just don't understand the purpose of this strategy when a vaccine is on the horizon, which will get us to that herd immunity mark without infecting the 300 million it'd take to get there naturally (without pharmaceutical intervention). It's like we are fighting to win a football game, but rather than play the 4th quarter they want us to lie down on the field and see what happens.

  16. Donny Mac (I only call him that) has been my guy from the start. He's the guy I often report back to the board about when I hear him on The Daily podcast. I've been following him since February and he's been right on a lot of stuff. If he's wrong he admits it and explains why he was, given the hindsight. I'm not surprised to see this article about vaccines because he was initially very skeptical about an effective one being created in less than year. Actually, in an interview last week he said that he's now hopeful 3 of the 10 vaccines in phase three will be successful. If that's the case, it will truly be a remarkable accomplishment by the scientific community.
  17. My wife is on a huge plant based kick. She and a few other friends have been urging me to watch 'The Game Changers'. I finally did and it super interesting froma health, energy and performance perspective. It seems like so much is tied back to diet and there are so many misconceptions about food and what is actually good or bad for you. You should check it out; it's super interesting. You may get another perspective about fixing deficiencies with healthy food before you consider supplementing. There's actually a scene where the narrator (UFC Fighter James Wilks) goes to a Firehouse in NYC and has them take a plant based week challenge to see how their health improves.
  18. I watched that movie so many times when I was around 10 years old. I also thought it was cool that inspired some Mortal Kombat characters.
  19. Damnit, I'm wrong. As far as I know this conversation never happened.
  20. Random question: can you clear something up that my wife and I debate about? Is the pronunciation or Steuben: steubin or Steu-BEN, when you emphasize the 'ben'?
  21. They tried last night but weren’t getting anything. Bucs D line was too much for them to handle. That said, the decision not to run the ball on the last 2 plays before that game winning field goal was puzzling.
