Or... DM could just be wrong.

Or it could be Allen…. It’s pretty surprising after last year the sole coaching staff change has been OC….

I mean none of us are on the inside, so who knows, but after such a colossal failure you’d think you’d be trying to change more than we have.

    Well that's ridiculous.

Hopefully it’s an overreaction but…. Let’s just say there are some former guys in the program who were pretty surprised with some decisions this off-season, so it’s not surprising to me if McCullough is perplexed, assuming it’s about who I think it is.

Starters matter.  I told everyone on the Rivals board that Woody was making a massive mistake if he started both TJD and Race against Purdue.  I said that TJD would pick up 2 quick fouls on Edey and that's exactly what happened.  Should've started TJD and Durr.

I love Woody but this isn't the NBA.  Matchups matter and you can't play everyone the same.  He needs to learn that quickly.

Woodson disagrees. Woodson also won the game, so there’s that.

Agree. One thing we have to be careful of, Galloway is more of a point forward, he's not a point guard.

The value in that is having him play alongside our point guards as another ball handler and a guy that is smart and can push the pace. You don't really want him replacing the point guards. Being a point guard is an entire different thing than being a wing that can push the pace at times, run the break, etc.

yep, I actually really like XJ and Galloway on the floor together. I think one of the weak points is XJ is basically our only “shot creator”. Even Phinisee isn’t much of a creator, but when you put Galloway and XJ on there, that’s two guys that can beat their man, get into the paint, and find the open guy.

This is where I was going to go with this. We were never going to move the ball with constant scrambling/playing back yard football. We have the stretch the field horizontally, to stretch it vertically.

I also don't believe his "deep ball" or alleged, lack there of, is all that important... because 1. I don't know how many WRs we have that can create that sort of separation, if it's not schematically done. 2. I am not overly sure we can protect that long anyway.

Any QB in college is going to hit a WR that's open. Arm strength isn't all that important then. We need a dude that can hit underneath routes in stride.

That’s probably fair, but I think DJ Matthews can hopefully stretch the field vertically in a way no one else really could for us last year.

Have you watched much film of his?

Been watching it, do you disagree with him not being the most mobile guy?

I never said he’s a complete statue, but if you’re relying on him running around all over the pocket you’re gonna have problems.

Mizzou looks like it did a good job of getting him quick and easy throws, something I think we struggled with last year. We’ll see how Bell does with that over Sheridan.

And have absolute playmakers in each position group.

They're going to have another 4-6 All Pros this year. JT, Nelson, DL, Buckner, possibly Kelly, and possibly Dulin/Odum.

Receiver is still a big weakness for this team. Outside of Pittman, that group is UGLY.

I’d argue it’s definitely the top priority for Ballard next year.
