Yeah I think it’s too early to say. There’s a lot of potential but we need the depth to step up. I feel confident in TJD and mostly confident in X, I feel good about Race as a complimentary player, but we really need a solid third option to step up. I don’t think Stewart or Kopp are going to do that, they seem like complimentary guys who can hit some shots on this team (which is a need, so that’s great). I think it’s really going to have to be Bates developing into an all conference level player over the course of the season if we want this to be a special season.

How many Big Ten teams have 3 all conference level guys this year?

  2. Wasn’t pretty, but with this game coming after Thanksgiving and right before Syracuse it was pretty much a trap game.

Thought X and Trayce were outstanding (clearly the top two guys on the team) and thought we got solid minutes from most of our guys, but sheesh Geronimo and Durr were rough.

props to Marshall too. That’s a team I would imagine will contend for a bid come march. They’ve got some tough shot makers on that team.

Lander had 3 turnovers in the first 5 mins of being on the court. 4 for the game. He also, twice, was involved in turnovers because of an illegal screen. If KL wants to be a part of the rotation, consistently, this season.... 3 TOs in 5 mins will not get it done. If we'd had another option yesterday he would have been sat and we wouldn't even have been able to see him play well the rest of the game.

You cannot come into a game, in the role he's in now, and do that. You just can't. His potential or whatever else isn't going to overshadow that.

Come in more focused. Stop trying to force so much, stop hiding so much when the play breaks down... especially against that kind of pressure.

I feel like you hold Lander to a higher standard than other guys for no reason. Did he make mistakes with turnovers? Sure...

Go look at Phinisee's offensive production though. It's been horrendous. Lander has been more productive, even accounting for turnovers offensively, and it's not even close. Phinisee might get more time with his defensive abilities in certain match-ups, but thats about it for me.

I would essentially argue anyone that has any defensively ability and experience should play above Lander, that so happens to be Rob.

Depends how much of a blackhole they are on offense. I like Rob, but man 25% from the field, 22% from three, and more turnovers than assists is not good.... Hard for any realistic defensive standard to balance that out. Don't know if Lander would be any better, and in Rob's defense its a small sample size this season... But it's a pretty brutal sample size.

Xavier need to figure out how to stay on the floor. He had foul trouble in the Bahamas. At least we have 2 backups. I didn't like his foul seeking on that jumper in the second half. We need him to just stay on floor and play smart basketball. He does that and we will go a long way.

No doubt, but last night showed how night and day our offense is when X is on the bench and when he’s running our offense.

He’s vital to what we do.

To be honest, Geronimo never should have been taken out of the game when he was.  But, props to the assistants for getting Woodson to make the move on the last play.

Geronimo is our 3rd best player.

    3rd best?

X/Race/Trayce seem like the clear cut top 3 to me early

The move to put Geronimo in on that last defensive play was a great one. Saw on Twitter that Woodson said his assistants were yelling at him to get him in.

I do not believe that move would have been made with the old staff.  I dont mean to bash Archie or his staff, I just think that's a kind tactical move we would not have seen.

I don’t really get the feeling anyone on Archie’s staff would ever yell at him to do anything either really… don’t know if they had that kind’ve relationship but maybe that’s just me
