The BIG10 hasn't won the NCAA basketball tournament in over twenty years.  This year the BIG10 had nine teams in the tournament and as of this moment seven failed to make it to the second weekend.  The conference doesn't seem to be all that we believe it is when it comes to great basketball.  Or it's incredibly unlucky.

Honestly, I think it has been somewhat unlucky.  The Big 10 has been in the title game 7 times since 2002 with, incredibly, 6 different schools.  They just haven’t won the game.  Then there have also been a few years where the Big 10 has had a lot of really good teams but no elite team.  This may be one of those years.

Alan Henderson broken leg…Scott May broken arm..maybe not win but Coverdale was 70 percent and playing on a softball sized ankle that was black and blue.

yeah the Virginia game was one of the craziest things I’ve ever seen for you. But getting bounced by some crap teams happens to everyone. Cleveland state and Pepperdine for us. Stuff happens. The Tennessee game before that was one of the craziest things the other way for you. March is wild. I think you guys get to elite 8 and I have you picked for final four. So here’s hoping you ruin my bracket…again…

I would add 1979-80…IU was pre-season #1 but Randy Wittman and Mike Woodson went down.  Wittman never returned and Woodson did but wasn’t 100%.  Every player on that team will tell you that when healthy, the 1979-80 team was better than the team that won the national championship the next year.

It may be oversimistic. But we may have actually over achieved.

We are weak on the wing and are a very poor shooting team.

The biggest difference in this game is not scheme, effort etc.

They make open shots. We clank.

We play solid. We usually defend. Our effort is there. We flat can not put the basket in the hoop and our wings are average at best overall.

We have a bright future. I hope. 😕

Agree with this.  I know people have criticized Woodson's offense, but we haven't really seen his offense.  There's really nothing to put in for a team full of players who can't shoot.  21 wins was a minor miracle, IMO.

    LOL

Carroll should have had 2 D-1 players on their squad this year.  Besides Essegian, they had Jalen Jackson who transferred to Northrop.  Jackson is an Illinois-Chicago commit.

Jackson transferred because his mother was named Northrop’s girls coach.  Also, two other players (both seniors) quit towards the end of this current season, under the current coach.  I have several contacts there, including two people who live under my roof, but I have no idea what’s going on there.  I just know that program has a long, long journey to get back to where they were.

  5. Been looking at the numbers and bracket projections, and I find it interesting that most have Michigan (17-14) in the tournament but Oklahoma (18-15) out.  The resumes look really, really similar.  Also looking forward to seeing what they do with Rutgers, and why.  My opinion is they’re not close enough to the cut line in the metrics to ignore the bad losses and put them in.

I expect a fair whistle, too. And I also stand by the fact that a team that is going inside is going to have more contact than a team that isn't doing that. It doesn't mean the whistle isn't fair, it means the two teams are trying to do different things.

I was there.  The whistle wasn't fair, whether you're talking about inside, on the perimeter, or away from the ball.

I would expect the team shooting 32 threes to play through less contact, wouldn’t you?

No, I expect a fair whistle all over the floor, regardless of where the shots are taken.  In other words, a foul on one end should be called a foul on the other end.  There is a lot of action in a basketball game that happens in addition to shots.

I don’t think the refs cost us that game. They were not good today, but I didn’t feel like it favored one Iowa per se.

I was at the game, and I can assure you we had to play through a hell of a lot more contact than Iowa did.

Could this even be a possibility?

    BRAD UNDERWOOD

This would probably be the home run hire to unite the K-State fan base. Brad Underwood coached under Bob Huggins and Frank Martin at K-State and has gone on to find a lot of success as head coach at Stephen F Austin, Oklahoma State, and Illinois. The problem with getting Underwood is finding the money to hire him away from Illinois. He bleeds purple, and I’ve heard through the grapevine that K-State is his “dream job.” The problem is that he has a good thing going at Illinois right now, and it would probably take a lot to lure him away from there.

Sounds a lot like the Denver media thinking the Broncos were getting Aaron Rodgers, lol.

Little colder today and tomorrow than I originally thought. That's ok though, still pretty nice. 45-50 and some sun during the game. To me these are two big games, we can get these two and go win the series at Troy we will be above .500.

Also.. I will start posting the "game links" ---radio, TV, and live stats each game, as well.

Today, and I have done this before... I am going to sync the radio broadcast with the stream, and listen to it. I absolutely cannot listen to the BTN Student U productions. It is awful and quite honestly not worth my money.

Don’t know anything about Cincinnati, but PFW is absolutely horrible.

Our record that year was worse than Rutgers, and I dont remember the exact # of teams from the B1G that got in that season, but it wasn't 8.

They took seeds 1-7 except for us at 4.  And yes, our record was worse but we played a killer schedule and had none of the types of bad home losses that Rutgers had pre- conference.  Again, I agree with you, but there is precedent for skipping over a team and taking the next several.
