What is he supposed to do with his elbows when he turns to face the basket? They’re naturally going to make contact with the defender and it looks worse because he’s so much taller than most of the guys who guard him. What’s the alternative?
If we had a player who caught the ball and put an elbow or shoulder into the chest or face of one of your players all game long, your fans, every last one of them, would be crying and bitching about it daily until the year 3206. Of course, they'd have to come up with a new "clever" name besides "Hall of calls" because I'd assume we'll have a different building by then.

Honestly, I really don't know how it works.
I could be wrong, but I think Cleveland State is the only team eligible for the automatic NIT bid because they have clinched the #1 seed. But PFW is playing well enough that they certainly could win the Horizon tournament.

I dunno about that. If Cleveland St. loses later on, then I do believe P-FW ties for the regular season championship. And I thought regular season champs in the mid-majors got NIT invites?
They can’t be the #1 seed though. So I don’t know if the NIT could take them or not.

PFW at IU in the NIT.
Enjoy the next two weeks of bad thoughts, everyone!
Very little chance either one of them will be in the NIT. Virtually no chance for PFW.

Purdue-FW wins again. This time over Mike Davis and Detroit 81-78.
Broke a 15-game home court winning streak for Detroit. PFW is legit.

I miss the days when the msm reported events and didn't give us their opinions of what happened.
Initating could be Howard's walking by the hand shake and mouthing off to Gard. Or maybe the full court press with 15 seconds left when the game is over.
Go Hoosiers!!!
I think the media has always had their opinion or editorial folks. The difference is, it used to be based more on facts and evidence, whereas now it’s based more on number of clicks or viewers it can generate.

How do you know that with any degree of certainty?
According to this article, he was "wait and see" after the firing, but no clue as to what he would have done if CAM had been retained
I know it to the same degree people know recruits are coming/not coming here, and whether we will suck next year, in two years, or every year until we hire Brad Stevens with Chris Beard as his top assistant.

so i was devastated when Woodson was hired. then when i saw the staff assembled, recruits, transfers, guys staying, and all the excitement around, i was greatly encouraged. while i have been very skeptical from the start, i don't see declaring he wasn't the answer or that he isn't getting the job done after less than a season. at the same time, college basketball is kind of built so that you can turn things around quickly with recruiting and the transfer portal. hard to have as much patience these days. also, i know many disagree, but would we really have won less games with Miller coaching this season? i guess maybe? i still say our pre conference record would have been the same. either way, i also don't understand the concept of ever stopping watching games or stop cheering for wins!
Would we have won less games with Miller this year? Well, TJD wouldn’t be here, so I’d say yes. Much, much less.

I like Woodson too but if we don’t make the dance this season it’s going to be nearly impossible for him to ever recover. It’s just the way it is with this fan base when you hire a coach with no track record at the college level whatsoever . He’s just never going to get the benefit of the doubt when things go south. The apathy is here and the part where the fans start rooting for loses to pile up is almost here. Sad.
Maybe it’s time for some of the fan base to just go away. I mean, I get it. I’ve been around a long time and losing sucks. But anyone thinking a first-year coach is on the hot seat and is therefore rooting for losses should be spending their free time in a therapist’s office rather than watching basketball.

Did not think that it deserved its own thread but I thought this was a good article that goes into many of the things that led to the feud between the General and Coach K.
This is interesting. I knew they had a bad patch in their relationship after the Final Four game in 1992, but I thought they had gone on record many years ago saying it had been repaired and all was good. I know Coach K has been complimentary of Knight publicly, most recently when Duke came to Assembly Hall to play when Archie was coaching. It appears, according to this, they never got back on good terms at all. What a shame.

Sure did and it still can happen. I take the new guys over the 3 we lost. Like you I have seen the 3 championships and I know we are not where we want to be. I also thought Woodson would be a lot better at player development which he had been.
Well yes, it can technically still happen. My point, though, is if it doesn’t (and it most likely won’t), it isn’t fair or realistic to call this season or these players a disappointment, or say that they failed to meet expectations, like some people are saying.

Before the season I had us going 23-8 overall and 13-7 in the conference.
We lost the only guys we had who could even remotely shoot, and you thought we’d nearly double our wins, in total and in the Big 10?

I have read comments from fans on this board and other boards, and even from sportswriters, that people expected more out of Indiana this year. And my reaction to that continues to be: Really? Why?
First, let me give my perspective. I’m 55 years old. I lived through and vividly remember Knight’s glory years and 3 national championships. I was an IU student when the Hoosiers won in 1987. I know what it feels like, and I know what we’ve been missing. I desperately want my kids to experience the same IU basketball I did. I’m sick and tired of almost 30 years (with the exception of maybe 5 or 6 years in there) of mediocre to bad basketball.
But did people really expect us to be great this year? I mean, we won 12 games last year. We won 7 Big Ten games last year. We were one of the worst shooting teams I’ve ever seen, and the only three guys we had on that crappy-shooting team who could even make one three-pointer per game (Durham, Franklin, and Hunter) all transferred.
So I’m not sure where the basis for these expectations Indiana is supposedly failing to meet came from. Yes, we brought in two guys we hoped could shoot. To replace three we lost. As a realist, I thought before the season, we have a better coach, players that stayed might develop now, and Bates might be pretty good. I thought our realistic expectation was probably 19-13, 9-11 in the Big Ten, and hopefully sneak into the tournament. I don’t really see how anybody could justify anything much better than that.
Well, we are on track to be a little better than that. Yes, losing sucks. Yes, we are all tired of waiting for this program to get back where it should be. But I don’t think it’s fair to anybody involved with this program now to call this season a failure to meet expectations.

It doesn't take a genius to look at that and realize it's faulty. Apparently, no one in the NCAA appears to understand or care.
Another team getting hurt in the NET by pointspreads being given too much weight is Providence.

Someone explain the NET to me. Specifically, how is Auburn not #1 in the NET
- Auburn has the best record in the country
- Auburn has 6 road victories. Gonzaga has 1.
- Auburn has 7 Quad 1 wins. Gonzaga has 3. Houston has ZERO. Arizona has 1
- Auburn has only played 3 Quad 4 games. Gonzaga has played 11. Houston has played 7. Arizona has played 6.
For heaven's sake NCAA. If all the metrics you use to compile your rating all favor one team, how is that team behind the other 3 in the overall ranking.
In my opinion, the pointspread regression is given a little too much weight in the NET. Gonzaga wins their games by a big margin and Auburn generally doesn’t.

Found out yesterday that Carroll-Fort Wayne has set up home-and-homes with Warren Central, Hamilton Southeastern, and Center Grove for 2023-2026. Will be interesting to watch Carroll attempt to elevate their program another level by doing this.

Big news out of the Fort. The SAC is "shaking" things up with the football scheduling.
Exactly what I hoped they would do.

Some coaches, including Tom Crean, look at defensive plays other than actual deflections of the basketball and chart them as deflections.

Why would you go to Ball State and play football, as a competitor, if they got rid of basically any bowl game you could qualify for?
The playoff should be expanded to include every conference champion. Then Ball State would definitely have something to play for.

Louisiana Tech leading LSU 48-45 with 11:23 to play. Game is on the CBS Sports Network.

Maybe they need to actually physically separate themselves from the program. As it is, they're cluttering up adult boards to anonymously cry like babies.
