FW Snider beats Luers to win the SAC title

Warsaw and Concord tied at 14 for Northern Lakes Conference title

They are recognizing it as a 3-way tie for the SAC title between Carroll, Luers, and Snider, even though Snider won one less game due to not being able to play FW South (COVID).

Good.  I like to look at lists of recruits after the high school season, when all the reports from the season are considered.  Lot of new info.  But, I will say this, I would like to see us get more athletic on the offensive line.  Bedford is probably the one plus athlete we have right now.  As a group, we look stiff.

We definitely have an upgrade in talent coming based on this ‘22 class, but both lines need to get better and better.  It’s hard to find huge guys period, but it is even harder to narrow that group to guys with some quickness and athleticism.  People think about agility and range at tackle, but you need some explosiveness and quickness inside at guard and center too.   I think we need more of it, IMO.  Hopefully, Sales and Khalil Benson are looking promising in practice and we do have a few good line prospects in ‘22 with Carter Smith and Demon Moore but we need more, IMO.

Carroll’s best OL prospect is currently only a freshman who is playing LT on varsity.  Of course, Hiller couldn’t talk to him yet but made a point of shaking his hand “in passing,” lol.  Hiller was also looking at a LB, DB, WR, and K.  Fort Wayne is Hiller’s recruiting area so he recruits all positions.

If this would happen this offseason, then I think it's even more unfair.  The players haven't even had the opportunity to show improvement to this coaching staff.  Don't get me wrong.  I'm okay with trying to recruit the best players possible when there are open schollies.  If that means a starter from last season doesn't start next season, so be it.

My point is that the program has 13 scholarships to use.  All 13 have been awarded.  Is it good to take that away from a kid that committed to IU straight out of high school and stuck with it through a coaching change.  Keion Brooks had a chance to commit to IU out of high school ad didn't/  He also had the same free agency opportunity that Xavier Johnson and Miller Kopp did after Woodson was hired.  And, he didn't make the move when the spot was available.  Neither he, nor any other player, who had those opportunities should take a scholly from someone who previously made that commitment,

While I'm not sure why there are pages of debate and hand-wringing over something that hasn't happened and probably won't happen, I tend to agree with your take.  I think a contributing factor to Archie's recruiting problems was that he held scholarships open indefinitely for guys like Brooks and Kaufman and let both of them him-haw around until we couldn't get anybody else. and then, of course, they went somewhere else.  Fife hinted at this in his media availability, but if kids want to play basketball for this prestigious program, they need to make a decision about their scholarship offer while it is available.  If not, then we move on, get somebody else, and win without them.  So until somebody voluntarily leaves, which certainly may happen, my opinion is the roster is full and the kids who passed on their offers are out of luck.

In sharp contrast to a productive and positive first month on the job by Mike Woodson, there is this update on the former IU Head Coach.  All sounds painfully familiar.

Well, if there's one thing he has experience in, it's building a program up from little to no scholarship players.  Unfortunately, he will be doing that in year 4 of his current job, lol.

Probably the main thing is the “Purdue has basically never hurt us on the offensive end” comment. Sure there have been some low-scoring ugly games lately but plenty of times Purdue has been solid offensively in those games. Also, that Purdue’s model isn’t meant to win in March I disagree with too. First round upsets happen all the time especially this year.

First round upsets happen, but if you look at the DNA of teams that often lose before their seeding says they should, it's because they lack quickness and can't guard in space.  They're susceptible to teams who open the floor, drive, and have a shooter or two get hot.  And it's bound to happen in the tournament, if not in the first round then by the second or third.  Purdue is a solid program that would probably have a lot more post-season success if each game in the bracket was a best of 3, but there is a reason Purdue hasn't been to a Final Four in 42 years.

Do you think being a BOT member if that happened he would be in hot water or would it not matter?. No idea on that front

I'm not sure either.  Just seems from what I've heard the search was narrowed down to 1 or 2 guys from the beginning, and neither were college coaches.
