  1. Just got a text saying that barring a big ten tournament championship Archie is done. I guess we won’t have to wait long if it’s true.. Edit- also stated it will be a mutual decision so the buyout may not be as big of an issue as we thought. 🤷🏼‍♂️

  2. well... on the bright side, my son's team won the NC 3A state championship. first in school history and he was named tournament most outstanding player! helps with the pain of another loss to Purdouche.

  3. As much as I know this needs to happen and I agree that it's time and needs to happen, I still hate it. I really like Archie. At least what I know publicly, he seems like a good guy and I really thought we had found our guy. It's a real shame it hasn't worked out, and on the personal side I'm sad for Archie and his family, as well as the IU fan base.

  7. IU has too much fertile recruiting ground to ever be lateral with Baylor or Texas Tech. The coaches with the right kind of Ego would be lining up for this job. A chance to restore a once proud program. The choices of candidates won’t ever be the problem, the problem will be and has been the administration

  8. Wow, this thread has picked up steam, don't even have time to read it all. Earlier, I posted about a buddy that was on the staff of the sweet 16 Valpo team, very close to the Drew's to this day. I texted him over the weekend, asked if he thought Scott would take the IU job if offered. His repose, "basketball is the religion in Indiana, I think he would".

  10. Meeting started 15 minutes ago, as far as what I was told. I don’t want Archie back but I’m just relaying information and if I hear he’s coming back I’ll say it. Not sure what I say on a message board has any bearing on wether he comes back or not. I never said this meeting was about Archie in the first place, all I said was it was odd timing to have a meeting with an AD and the BoT. Could be something totally different, even though the timing would suggest otherwise.

  11. Rumor has it the funds have been raised to move on. We’ll see what happens. If it’s true that Chris Mack reached out to IU then that tells me that the IU job is still appealing to high level coaches even if fans at times don’t think so. Yes, Louisville’s issues may be part of the reason he wants out but I still find it interesting. I’m curious to see what other names pop up over the coming days. There’s to much smoke about IU reaching out to coaches and coaches reaching out to IU. Archie will be gone.

  18. Nobody is ever going to say that publicly. My issue was with all the academic and player empowerment stuff first and he didn't get to winning until 3rd. For me as a fan, winning should be first. Players going to class and getting decent grades, as well as treating them well should be a given. I don't need the AD going through that, just tell us your #1 priority is a basketball program that compete for championships. The problem with IU is that I don't think their #1 priority is winning. Heck, the AD just told us it isn't.

  20. If you hire a guy like Alford or Fife they'd better start winning right away. They'd have a very short leash with the fan base as no one wanted them in the first place. If you hire a proven winner like Drew or Pearl they would get a long leash as they have proven they know how to coach in the big boy leagues. I think there is a misconception among some fans that an IU guy is the solution because they would get a longer leash. I promise you the exact opposite is the case as there are no promising IU guys out there.

  23. I’m not so sure about the feelers but I do know the BoT and the Athletic Department have a virtual meeting Sunday. These don’t happen often and they never happen on a Sunday. Not saying something is happening because I don’t know other than this meeting. Odd timing for a meeting since it will be after our game with Purdue and our last regular season game of the year. Starting to THINK the ball is rolling.

  25. More on Mack, if he is in fact a realistic option: Has made the NCAA tournament 9 of a possible 10 years. Will make it again this year and would have last year, too. Has made it to the second weekend 4 times out of 9 trips, with only 3 first round losses. 2 of those 3 came in his early days at X. Knows the region very well and knows how to win at a high pressure basketball school. I'm not sure if he is the best we can do or not, but if he is our floor then we are in a great spot.

  27. It is clearly time to make changes. Regarding Archie, after the previous coach, I was truly excited we had a gym rat, son-of-a-coach, former and successful NCAA player, and young in-demand coach with an early run to the elite 8. I still have a load of respect for Archie as a person. He has never embarrassed the university or been one to over-speak. He is measured and consistent, too. While his roster has not proven to be conference strong, he has been steady and gone after Indiana kids to build the team. Sometimes, things just don’t work. I like Archie a great deal as a

  29. For a lot of this season I felt like we were a pretty good team, with a mediocre record due to a brutal schedule. Things changed about a month ago. Losing (or barely winning in miraculous fashion) against mediocre teams like MSU, Northwestern. Getting pounded by the good teams like OSU, Michigan. Not competitive against a decent but not great Rutgers team. Our efficiency numbers have fallen off a cliff too. Earlier this season IU either won or went to OT five times against Kenpom top 15 teams. That feels like a really long time ago.

  31. IU tied with Purdue for 10th last season. After sweeping IU again, Purdue is 4th in the B1G standings while IU is 10th again. But I guess the conference is so tough we shouldn't expect improvement in the standings.

  33. There’s just no way they're going to fire Archie with a $10M buyout and then bring in Enfield or Fife. It would make absolutely no sense. Just makes me think they're getting at least a nibble from Beard, Drew, Stevens, etc.

  34. I don’t agree with this 100%. First, as a high school coach you are playing with the hand you’ve been dealt (at least I’m assuming). Your pool of capable players is only so big; you can’t essentially pick the players that fit your culture. Also, one thing I’ve learned as a coach (although not nearly at CAM’s level, but it applies to all) is that a coach is a teacher, a trainer, a psychologist, a salesman and a guardian. When a coach says one of those descriptions listed above is not his/her ‘job’ is when they lose their kids. We all deal with mistakes (hundreds a day would be an und

  35. I was not posting on this board back when Archie Miller was hired. But, did post a bit on two others. Have lived in Dayton since 1982. The Dayton area supports the University of Dayton basketball team. It is a big deal. Archie Miller took over there from Brian Gregory. Gregory left Dayton much like Crean left Indiana...recruiting for both had fallen off significantly and they both were not good fits. Archie Miller then got lucky and did a good job with UD and he fit. The players all shared the ball and got along fairly well. They helped each other. Archie Miller had recruited

If it doesn’t come to be true I will still trust this source because he heard this information from a reliable source himself. Relax and let’s see what happens.

  38. I really don’t think it could be any worse of a statement. Starts off by trotting out the “they’re just kids” BS and blaming the fans for being pissed that the program sucks. Then says the priorities are 1) academics, 2) making sure the players are “supported” (whatever that means), and “then” 3) winning. Finishes it off by saying: “people think, 'Do they care? Is winning important?' And it is, BUT . . . we got to make sure we do all the things the right way . . . .” Really a perfect summary of the university’s loser mentality when it comes to the basketball program. Pathe

  39. Wanting change just for the sake of change? I have no GD idea what that means. No one is calling for a change just for a sake of change. We're calling for change because it's clear to anyone not completely blind that Archie isn't the guy and we almost certainly have better options available. His entire tenure here has been a complete dumpster fire. Recruiting has fallen off a cliff and mass transfers are likely coming. It's over.

The lady selling the tickets was SO happy we came as IU fans and took us into the gym, showed us around then got us a seat by his parents. So I talked IU with his dad and mom whole game. After his mom said “you can’t leave till Luke meets you so come with us.” We stood at half court as a family and as soon as he came out mom yelled “Luke you have IU fans YOU HAVE TO MEET!” He was smiling ear from e
