  1. So why doesn’t Trayce use his NIL money to pay for school in this scenario?
  2. Wait why are we moving Turner and Hield for Russ? We would need more than a pick around 10 to eat $47M and give those two up IMO.
  3. Would love to see her do a few NIL deals in Hamilton County - I'd try to support!
  4. If TJD leaves but I’m not sure at this point it’s anymore likely to happen than it was 24 hours ago.
  5. I don’t have to know someone personally to care about them. Remember how many people that have never met you personally cared about you the past two years through all your struggles?
  6. No one said they’re above scrutiny, did they? What is college, and college sports, for if not to propel and prepare young people for success in life?
  7. I can’t imagine caring more about a basketball program than a person.
  8. Yes, I hope Justin Smith and Al Durham have nice professional careers and will follow both of them about as close as I do any IU player.
  9. You care more about a basketball program than what is best for Trayce, the person.
  10. 100%. I want him to do what is best for him, but would love for him to come back and have the type of season that young man deserves in terms of team success.
  11. So you'd rather him just go and not keep his eligibility?
  12. Surprisingly this is not the son of the baseball player.
  13. Maybe, maybe not. We don’t have anyway to really know that so it’s all conjecture. I can think of better athletes from IU that had similar production and didn’t have a long list of suitors. From my perspective I can’t think of too many (any?) good teams I can confidently say he would start for right now without major improvement. If he is leaving because he wants a guaranteed starters role or major minutes and we won’t guarantee that… bye. If the choice is between him and Race, who was honorable mention all league I am keeping Race. I hope he stays and proves himself because I do think he has nice upside and is a good kid.
  14. I hate to rag on Geronimo because I like him, hope he stays, and am cautiously optimistic we can count on him for 20 MPG if we need to next year but.... He's not OG, he's not close to OG. OG could guard anywhere on the floor, was a knock down three point shooter, and hit 70% of his shots around the rim. He was better than Geronimo in every facet of the game, many by a a wide margin. He was a lottery pick on one leg. If we are trying to make the uber athletic comparison, he isn't even close to Troy Wililams right now. At this exact point in time, his best comparison is a shorter HMP with a slightly better shot.
  15. He's no where close to NBA talent right now, what are you talking about? He may have NBA level athleticism, but he's a 6'6 stretch 4 so he has a lot of skill development to go to get drafted. He's no more likely to play in the NBA than Bates, X, JHS, or Banks at this point.
  16. Agreed. Hartman was probably the better player. He seemed to make more hustle plays, too.
  17. So can I just say regarding Geronimo that while I’m a huge fan of his, he’s an incredibly replaceable player based on what we’ve seen thus far. I hope he stays and continues to develop, but I can just as easily see Banks stepping in to his role and us not missing him. If the question is Race or Geronimo, I don’t see see how it’s been this much back and forth. It’s Race all day, every day.
  18. Transparency about potential roles is very different than promising roles.
  19. Hartman is a great comparison for Kopp. They're both solid guys that don't make mistakes and can shoot a little bit.
  20. And that isn't JG if he is playing the 3. He is getting sagged off of if he is standing in the corner or on the wing.
  21. Yes, very easily. You’re pulling TJD or Race away from the bucket if you’re posting up you’re three, and their defender can easily help down.
  22. I mostly agree, although I do think we continue to evolve as a species and get better so there is a slight variation up and to the right as time goes on. I don't think 40 years (two generations) makes a significant difference in that. But we also know that there's a lot more to it than god given talent
  23. Sure, but he didn’t have it. And I did mention exceptions… Athletes today are more athletic than they were in the 80s. I’m sure if athletes back then access to the training and nutrition they do today that would largely make up the gap, but they didn’t have it and the game is full of better athletes today as a result.
  24. Correct, as a whole, athletes weren’t as good back then. There are of course exceptions that I am sure you will point out. EDIT: weren’t as good = weren’t as athletic for the point I was making.
